Episode~ 101
19th May 2010
Episode picks up from the point where Kala urges her grieving mother to go to bed. she reminds her mother of the responsibilities they face.
Baji's room
Baji is troubled as to what conclusion he should draw regarding Naku. He is haunted by a spate of FB 's , how he sat at the back with Naku while driving home; how when Dutta gifts Naku the locket, he had studied Naku's face and had declared to Dutta that Naku loves him.. he recalls Dutta's words, the chaos in my heart is settled ,now as I have found my true love in Supriya.. Bhau! here on your dresser will be a pot of vermillion belonging to vahini! which she will apply in your name.. our people have caught vahini with that body guard Ravindra.. Saab they had eloped before.. and Dutta fires shots at Supriya's photo on the floor! If it hadn't been for Nakusha, I couldn't have eloped! It's true , that I love you, I'eve always loved you, so it was love for which you did all this! you weren't helping Supriya, but moving an obstacle in your way! you want to take her place don't you?
Baji wipes his tears and joins Sudarshan and Kishore with a scowl on his face, it's Nakusha! she must have plotted this whole thing! she's the one who ruined my Bhau's life! I am not going to spare her! Baji yells. Kishore looks at Baji and says Bajirao stay calm and think with cool head if you'll lose it! then who'll tend to Bhau? Sudarshan too says, yes Baji , just stay calm , don't do anything you just look after Bhau.. and both men calm him down.. although , Baji leaves in a big huff.
Baji comes down to the lounge and watches all the decorations come down. He looks around in dismay and finally his eye falls on Naku's family huddled up on the floor in a corner. Ganapat cheers up at the sight of Baji , but Baji gives them a dirty look and begins to walk off in contempt...
Dutta 's den
Once again the theme song "Kaminey"plays.. Dutta lies flopped on what's left of his bed bridal bed.. completely inebriated, one of his legs sticks off his bed ..the room is filled with smoky air, the room is drenched in bluish light and resembles a wrecked disaster no go zone. The wind blows through the curtains as Naku on the floor gathers her skirt to herself. She cries... Dutta's drunken eyes recalls, FB, himself coming to face the guests dressed as a groom..how his mother smiles, his friend blows kisses, how happy he was, happy enough to dance with his mother.. his pupils swim and he recalls moving the partitioning sheet and it is Naku's lone figure he sees, Naku word's, Tai has left all of us! the car blasted! The body being carried in, on a stretcher, him kneeling beside the stretcher.. Naku's words , accept Supriya Tai as your own. Dutta in torture moves on to his back.. Naku's words, once love comes ,all your pain will go.. Supriya tantalizing him, I want to start a new life with you.. Naku on the floor weeps bitterly.. Dutta has a FB, this is not Supriya's body! Baji's words, our people have caught Supriya vahine with her body guard Ravinder ! they were having an affair.. how he smashes the glasses at his bar!! Naku's words they ran once before, I caught them! the man points and says, yes that Nakusha sent us! Kala's voice, if it hadn't been for Nakusha , I couldn't have eloped. Naku has ,FB's Kala slapping her across the face! you decide this girl's fate!, her mother's voice , no Bhau ,she loves you! how Saab put the gun to her forehead.. it's true I love you! I've always loved you.. Dutta FB, smashing Supriya's photo! pushing Baji out of the mandap! smearing the vermillion on her forehead, putting mangalsutra around her neck. Naku's FB, Dutta's fingers around her neck, congratulations Naku! welcome to hell! hell! hell!.. she looks at the dead drunk Dutta on the bed, from the floor where she sits and she cries..
Kala's room
The evil trio congregate for their reactions. Kala finally turns up and asks her sisters, you haven't gone to bed yet? Leela replies, under the circumstances how can we sleep? Kala sneers ,why what's happened to every one's sleep? Leela complains, Tai all are game has been ruined! we thought Bhau would be put off women! but Bhau went and got married! a collected Kala suggests, Roops go get some wine for all of us, let's have a small celebration..Roops asked confused , a celebration? And Kala says yes a celebration! Leela moans, why? that maid has become a mistress! Is that what we celebrate? Kala sneer , why are you so anxious Leela ?and what marriage are you talking about? Nakusha is a one night bride! Bhau was drunk. When he comes to his senses, he'll kick her out of this house! and isn't that what we wanted? that Bhau should be pushed so hard that would begin to hate every woman on this earth! and look that's exactly what happened! In fact I would say we got a better deal! come on then! let's prepare to bid farewell to the bride in the morning! neither Bhau understood, neither Aye Sahib , let's she if Nakusha understands..
Dutta's den
Morning arrives. Dutta sleeps in a drunken stupor. Naku sits on the floor , her head rested against an wooden pillar. Kala enters the room, looks at the chaos. Bhau on the bed asleep. Naku on the floor. She glares at Naku, tugs at her arm , makes her stand up! and drags her out of Bhau's room to his study and confronts her... my Bhau was not in his senses last night! so you were his wife for one night only! so not for one moment think that you will rule over this house! worms like you I wouldn't even allow to live in my gutter! now get lost from here! and she drags Naku down the main staircase as both Naku and Dutta's families watch from the lounge.
Full of arrogance she drags Naku to the lounge and while all watch, she hurls her over to Babi! who goes to her daughter on the floor , looking for obvious signs of being battered! .Kala yells , stop your pretence crying! Babi tells her daughter to get up and Naku gives her mother a hug. Kala says clearly, before my Bhau wakes up! get your belongings and get out from here! let there be no traces left of last night's incidence in his house! I don't want my Bhau to see these fraudsters faces ! guards ! take their belongings and throw them !out she orders. Not one person disagrees with Kala Sahib!. Ganpat gives in, no please don't we'll leave! so does Babi , yes we're going !, and they collect their belongings as Kala watches in full authority. Babi turns to Naku , but Naku refuses to budge! She recalls the sindoor and managalsutra ceremony.She recognizes her status of being his wife and shakes her head.. Kala , Aye Sahib, Baji all stare at Naku's refusal.Naku remembers Dutta's words, congtraulations Naku! and welcome to hell! Naku thinks .. and does not move. Her father calls her! come lets go! do you want us all to get killed? Her mother gives her, her hand but Naku refuses to take it...she pushes Babi's hand away.. aye , babaa, I won't leave this place ! she says clearly for all to hear. Kala, Aye Sahib, Baji are all shocked, Naku defends, saab has married me! all the rituals were performed.. I won't be leaving this place! Kala is shell shocked at this girls claim.. Naku comes before Kala and pleads , Tai ,please don't turn me out, Saab married me in front of every one, I don't care how he keeps! Kala flies at her , and slaps her cross the face , how dare you! Dutta Bhau has married you! you are very smart Nakusha! my Bhau in a drunk state performed some rituals with you! and you think you've become his wife? is this what you call a marriage ?listen when my Bhau wakes up ,he'll realise his mistake! then this marriage will be of no importance in his eyes! Baji yells she's done enough damage! let me throw her out! he yells, and Kala stops him! it's like Baji too is a puppet in Kala's hands. Kala calmly says, I am saying this for the last time! and understand well! A fire lit by liquor doesn't count as a ceremony ..kala gives all the reasons to nullify the tasha wedding! She carries on, when he held your hand , it was out of hate! is this what's called a marriage? and she pulls off Naku's mundavlya from her forehead and throws it across the floor, then wipes off her vermillion with the brush of her palm! is this sindoor or my Bhau's blood? this mangulsutra? and she pulls that off naku's neck and throws it across the floor too.. Naku looks in disbelief at Kala's evil deeds of defiling the scared symbols of a Hindu marriage! Kala says this is not a mangalsutra! it's a noose tied around your neck by my Bhau! and even if then you think you are married! then go buy yourself a cheap mangulsutra from the bazar! and wear it around your neck all your life! it's got nothing to do with us, you can live as Dutta Bhau's wife anywhere in this world but not in this house! now get out of here, had enough of you lot! you saved my Bhau's life , so letting you leave alive! Kala is pulling the shots and loving it! this was her original plan any way.. was fouled , because Dutta decides to marry.. but even in this situation she manages to fire shots.. her language too sounds like Dutta's dialogues, like the noose around the neck.. she listened carefully to what Dutta said during and after the ceremony.
She continues, let's hope I don't forget this and burn you alive right here! now loud and clear! even if by mistake you are seen in this area, then you'll lose your life and you won't even know how! she threatens. Ganpat , Babi move, and pull Naku by her arms as well forcing her to leave! on her way out Naku glances back tearfully at his room and balcony.
They leave and Kala looks at Dutta's balcony and room scornfully.. and then leaves, but also looks at the mangalsutra , mundavlya scattered on the floor..
The family is kicked towards the front gate bag and baggage! by Sudarshan. Ganpat begs , Saab we are poor people! and Sudarshan shouts, yes I've seen poor men! I don't repeat myself just get lost from here! Ganpat begs please let us stay here!.. Naku looks towards the house.. waiting for Saab! Sudarshan says menacingly, don't you understand once? get lost! and Ganpat begs , but where will we go Saab? Dutta Bhau has given us permission to stay here! he took pity on us Saab , that's why we are
alive! I promise you this will not happen again! saab we'll end up on the streets! almost clapped for Ganpat here! he's right! Dutta Bhau said they could stay in his house!
But Sudarshan tells him to shut up! and puts his gun to Ganpat's head, and Ganpat rolls his eyes in terror! you will come to the streets ? why are you begging here then! threatens Sudarshan! will you leave or you'll wait for Dutta Bhau to arrive?.. Ganpat says, no! and they all rush to the gate ..except Naku.. she still stands looking backwards at the house.. Sudarshan turns to look at Naku.. he raises his gun and looks at Naku's waiting face.. episode ends Hamlet53 ~ 16.1.13

Baji's position.. Baji is typical of the person who follows the herd instinct at the moment. One who goes with the flow. He tries to weigh the evidence which has like all others a great bearing on the judgement against Naku. But there is a conflict within him, FB's, as initially he did give Naku the impression that he supports her. also within him he recalls he alerted Bhau that Naku loved him.. Baji may blame himself for being so blind. Yes she had duped him as well, by aiding and colluding with Supriya in the elopement move. Bhau is devastated! and within Baji's mind , he doesn't have further doubts as Naku withheld the truth to further her own love.. so for him too Naku is damned. It's hard for Baji to support Naku, so the other way for him is to condemn her, that is the gangsters way.. no middle way..
Kala is busy debriefing her sisters now. She spells out the present scenario of Bhau's marriage.. in fact even explains how she plans to deal with it.
If only Naku had the sense to see , that with Kala it's a power struggle with Naku.. she says to Naku , don't think you'll rule over this house.. it's because that power only Kala wants , and she wants to snatch that from her brother too! his status, his clout ,his money , his house , his power!.
In the end .. she does something which her brother will challenge.
Naku the puny little guttersnipe, digs her heels in to the very last minute till she is bodily thrown out of her rightful home. She has given a taster of what she is made up of.. people of Patil Nivas have a rough idea of the steel steadfast spirit Naku possesses. For Naku it's not about the want of rags to riches life style. Her take on refusing to leave is also to show Dutta and his family, she gracefully and honorably is ready to go through her punishment for her charge.
