LTL Written Update
Episode ~40
19th February 2010
The episode picks up after Sudarshan demands his food be sent up to his room. He comes out of the kitchen and approaches Dutta just outside the kitchen entrance.. he wants to sort his wage before going to bed. Dutta had already said , no we'll discuss in the morning but he tries his luck one more time Bhau, I ... but this time Kala intervenes, now BIL ,we can't talk about business all the time., why don't you go to Leela ..an embarrassed suds says , yes , my Leelu!, she rang me as well , poor thing my Leelu.. he feigns a distressed expression, and has to go. Kala moves over to her brother caresses his arm and suggests tenderly, go to sleep. Dutta smiles and watches his sisters Kala and Roops leave the room. Naku steals glances at the still around Dutta, from the kitchen .She suddenly on impulse leaves her mother's side and moves towards the kitchen door. Saaab .. she calls out to him and with one eye brow raised he turns his neck to look behind him.. and then looks at her, Naku asks, Saab would you like a drink? , Baji smiles, at her endeavour and Dutta has her FB, where she says drinking does not alleviate pain..and with his contracted eyes he says, at times you dissuade me, and other times you offer me!. Naku smiles and replies, Saab I was talking about tea. Baji smiles, at her answer, but Dutta says, humm.. Naku lowers her eyes and turns to her mother and the kitchen, as Dutta watches her back... then him and Baji leave towards his den. Babi regrets, how could I do such a thing? silently Naku returns to the stove and gets to preparing tea for Saab ..

Leela's Room
Suds enters the room like a concerned husband and finds his wife lying awake in their bed. Leelu! Leelu my love !.. she smiles and tries to sit up and he suggests, no don't get up! what happened to you? and he sat before her at the foot of the bed. She coughs, as he repeats what happened to you? I was busy in work, and here you , what have you done to yourself?. Leela looks at her husband as she feels her temple..he continues, come on tell me..and Leela in FB's tells him what befell her.. predominately about Kala ..then she articulates , you know this Kala Tai, she reckons she's very smart !but in all her moves she gets beaten! this time I got caught in her misfired trick!.. that sari was poisoned Sudarshan! He looks shocked , as she continues , I nearly died!
Sudarshan gathers himself and says with a toothy smile, must have been really bad for you..but forget Kala and listen to me! he says with a smile.. and puts his hand in a velvet pouch as he says,look what I've got for you ..and he holds before her a sparkling necklace, her eyes twinkle and she delights, its lovely! thank you so much Sudarshan!.he chuckles, it's for one lakh.. she goes, huh?.. and he replies with a sly look in his eyes, got it from Pune.. he chuckles.. I told Bhau that we got a profit of one lakh..but in reality, he turns his head to check if they are alone.. it was 5 lakhs!..Leela repeats five lakhs.. and he chuckles and continues , one lakh for Bhau and four lakh for my Leelu!. They both giggle devilishly .. he says, look whatever I do. I do for you!. now ordinarily , no one can steal a penny from Bhau's fortune, but when it comes to his relatives he tends to overlook!.. stupid Bhau!. Sudarshan laughs mockingly. While Leela looks on and smiles ,looking at her new gifted necklace...adds, Bhau is an idiot, for sure, but Sudarshan ,do something that will stop Kalavati from uttering, one who can't differentiate between good and evil, cannot understand Kalavati... Sudarshan chuckles at his wife's proposal..
Sudarshan is pleased to note his wife's disloyalty to Dutta as well..
Sudarshan misuses Bhau's good nature and loyalty to familial bonds.. Dutta is and seen as a soft target, which Dutta is unable to see for a very long time.
Sudarshan is like dry rot that eats into the building silently making it hollow.. his conning Dutta is aided by his wife Leela..

Breakfast at Patil Nivas
Naku is as usual posted behind Dutta as he has his first meal of the day... he turns to his mother, Aye Sahib, how is Leela now?. Sudarshan stops midway eating, and Kala replies, she's a little shaken up. Dutta turns his face quietly and Sudarshan adds on , all night she kept having nightmares, and kept waking up. All look on sympathetically, and Dutta says decisively, I know everyone is shook up, so I've increased security, so nothing to get worried about. Nothing will go wrong from now on. Roops butts in, yes how can it be done? ..and Kala kicks her from under the table...so Roops swiftly says, because all have decided , till the wedding Bhau .. Kala intercepts, Bhau don't worry we sisters will be praying for you, nothing will go wrong till the wedding. Kishore nods his head in despair and quotes, "something is rotten in the state of Denmark, so Shakespeare wrote, Kishore continues, I read this in school, just came up in my mind.. and another line, venomous snakes are lurking in every corner of the palace... all look up abruptly at his words. Kala gives him a distasteful sided look and sneers, if you are so well read, don't you know, that you eat should your food in silently?.. Aye Sahib prays , Deva , take away problems from this home... she turns to Babi , have you served Leela? and Babi replies in the affirmative, yes, served her first, lentil water and spinach soup...it's good for health ..and Sudarshan glares at her ... while Aye sobs ,what would anybody have against my daughter?. Dutta feels her hand and says Aye , I told you nothing will go wrong now.. he reaches out for the bowl of rice pudding.. and Naku reaches over his hands to help him and feels his arm, he moves it aside and lets her serve him.. Kala and Babi both look at how Naku leaps to serve him. Dutta , rests his folded elbow sideways under his chin and lowers his eyes, as Naku looks at his face.. and all stop and look ,across the table as Naku spoons the dessert into his bowl. Sudarshan leans over to Roops and says , bhootni.. ghost..and Roops giggles.
Supriya enters..and stands at the foot of the table. Aye greets her, and says, Nakusha! you let it be now..Naku looks disappointed and Dutta looks at his mother.. Aye carries on, Supriya will serve him now..come here.. Supriya smiles. Naku looks at her sadly, as Supriya walks around Dutta, over to his side, walks past Naku and takes her place. She pauses, looks at a smiling Aye and then starts to pour the dessert in Dutta's bowl.
Naku looks on silently, as her mother catches her sad face. Aye Sahib says, now I won't wait any more ,we'll have the wedding at the earliest. Supriya looks worried. Naku stands behind Dutta, heartbroken, ready to cry..she looks at the back of Dutta's head devastated. Babi glares at her daughter, for visibly looking upset. Naku !hey Naku come with me ,let's make some more fried roti, for them.. Kala delights in seeing Naku's agony... but Naku is stupefied and crestfallen, and Babi almost says severely, ey Naku! ,let's go child!..Naku moves , as Dutta takes a mouthful of sweet. Naku moves, but lingers on as she watches his back with longing. Babi goes into the kitchen, Naku follows, but stops at the kitchen door and turns back to look, as Aye Sahib ,says to Supriya , come have your dinner.
Babi turns to look at her daughter, who walks into the kitchen like a zombie!..look child what are you doing? you are not a princess! ..Naku says, Aye .. and Babi chides her, these feelings of love in you, get rid of them!. Naku , replies, what are you saying Aye ?. Babi comes by her side and advises her , don't be crazy Naku! don't dream of Bhau, Naku I 'm your mother ,I can look past your eyes ,it's love! ,you think I am an idiot?.. Naku your time will come child, your price charming will come too, trust me. Naku looks at her reflection.. in the cooker top.. and coldly replies, I am not a child, don't tell me stories.. I understand everything. she smiles and carries the food over to the dining area.. Babi clutches on to her belly and cries.
Baji enters into the dining area whistling, hey eating with SIL I'll join in too! and he sits beside Roops . Dutta turns to him, did you complete the work you went for? he replies , yes Bhau ,all done!. Kala urges Supriya , Supriya , why don't you eat , today is the first day you are eating with us.. eat. Roops tries to be friendly, and suggests, vahini ! shall we go shopping today?. Dutta shouts, NO!.. Supriya will not be going any where! she will stay at home! and here too a body guard will be with her. All are taken aback with Dutta's rough tone and decision. Baji informs in the evening, vahini's mother and father are arriving and accompanying them is an important person. Supriya like a shot rises up in her seat and feels queasy.She asks Aye Sahib ,Aye , I am leaving, I don't feel very well.. and she scampers off. Dutta looks coldly, as the rest of the family wonder what brought her sudden exit. Aye Sahib turns on Dutta. Dutta! is that the way to speak to your would be wife? you speak like you're firing a gun! listen she's her parents much loved daughter, has come to stay at our house if you don't speak softly to her , then she'll be scared, she'll always be frightened. The men of Patil family don't know how to speak to a woman! not a bit! , just dud! dudd !dud! like you're shooting off a gun! .. she was frightened poor soul! Dutta defends calmly, Aye , I just wanted her to be safe ,so. Aye smiles back , look I understand Dutta, but girls have a delicate heart, did you get it?. Dutta lowers his eyes.. Aye says, here take some more fried roti ,and he replies back in a sulk , no I am finished with eating now. Baji looks across to his Bhau .. Dutta makes amends , I'll be mindful next time. Aye says, now you made her cry, so you'll have to make it up to her too. Dutta refuses, Aye I don't know how? Baji helps, Bhau, what's the big deal in making up, give her a token of love.. Dutta glares at him.. Aye Sahib smiles, humm Baji is smart in such matters! and Baji smiles, Aye Sahib you are pulling my leg. Aye turns to Dutta , go and buy a nice gift for her. Dutta looks puzzled .. me? , Aye teases him, who else then!.. me? all laugh, and he gallantly says in a gruff voice , I'll try...
He gets up, pushes his chair under the table and stalks of.. but stops opposite Naku , turns his head towards her and says, Nakusha... from today you need to be with Supriya, you are both the same age , she can talk to you.. I trust you. Kala rolls her eyes. Dutta turns to Baji and beckons him with his head, Baji ! .. who says , yes Bhau! and he too follows his Bhau.. After Aye Sahib leaves, Sudarshan turns to Roops, what kind of a man is your brother? he trusts this bhootni , ghost a lot.. and he looks across to Naku who waits upon them.Kishore replies, Bhau looks at a person's heart not their face...for faces are usually disguised by masks..

Kala's Room
Kala clutches the letter , and has a FB of the contents of the letter.. stay away from Supriya ,stop doing what you are doing. Leela asks her what's the matter Tai ?what are you thinking about? Roops says, I know what she is thinking about, holy water .. Kala shouts , shut up Roops! you keep chattering all the time! can't you guys be quiet for a little while! Leela says look if you don't tell us, how will we know.. Kala stands up and says, since yesterday Iam thinking only about one thing, who's keeping a watch on my every move? every move. Leela says, perhaps someone has come, who can differentiate between good, evil, and Kalavati. Roops says I know who it is..? Kala looks at something.. the episode ends.. Hamlet53 ~ 20.10.13

Precap: the door opens, and Aye Sahib comes into the room , Kala pushes the letter under the bed.. why are you all looking so worried? She asks Roops says , Aye, someone.. Kala says Roops !
In my view Kishore's quote from the famous Shakespearian play Hamlet epitomizes the scenario of Dutta's household. .. Marcellus, Hamlet's friend's words, "something is rotten in the state of Denmark".. here rotten conveys, decay, mouldy, decomposition.. rot within the system ..Patil Nivas is the "Denmark" which is attacked by worms.. Kala, eats her way in to destroy the family structure. She festers the house with her moral corruption.. corrupts her sisters.. but the question to consider is that, is Kala the only one or are their others too?
Kishore, signals to Bhau there is an enemy within... in the play Hamlet, it was his own mother and father's brother who back stab him.. his family members.. here with Dutta it's his step sister Kala..
Sudarshan is introduced. Is he a worm as well? does he in the role of a shall we say , trusted middleman or chorron ka raja, the prince of thieves, also worms his existence in?.This episode exposes his petty pilfering.. Leela too is seen as abetting and aiding him. Naku, what is her status in terms of contributing to the corrosion of the state of Patil Nivas , living a false appearance, with Babi aiding and abetting her?
The episode, also gives a taster into an animosity brewing up between Leela towards her older sister Kalavati.
We have some more exhibition of Naku's devotion to the master of the house.
Dutta once more confirms his trust in the maid Nakusha.
Continued presence of unseen foe further felt, as Kala is plagued by the foe's identity.
