It's was 1st June 2010 when Baaji rao patil, brother cum right hand of Dutta Sri ram Patil informed him that his arch rival Anna is back, And a day after on 3rd June, Maleshwar Ramalingam aka Anna, made his appearance''''.. his first physical appearance! This has been one of the most remarkable traits of this cameo, Virtually present or absent, he never missed a chance to play cupid! (Until the character breathed it's last) Let's have a look synchronically.
24th June, when Dutta SriRam Patil accompanied by his whole clan was on a temple trip, least he knew that a bunch on yes-person are on their way looking forward to his successful annihilation as prescribed by their boss Anna, ending up creating a circumstance affluent enough to make an outraged don audit his thoughts about his wife.
July 7 2010, Realizing that Don DSP is an eternal gadha, Anna, had to jolt him with a greater intensity, resulting in a fatal car chase ending up the love birds into Jungle to carry on their eco friendly romance!
August 5 2010, DSP's wife got kidnapped, (do I need to mention who did the honors?) A jolt strong enough to evolute gadha into LION!
Though yet another too came when he sent DSP a CD of his kidnapped wife, but IMO that wasn't necessary, sooner or later anyways he was going to save her (Those who disagree your differences are most welcome.)
He led the lead pair to a rollercoaster ride, where their faith in each other, their faith in themselves, and their need to be together was measured, challenged, tested , resulting in the further solidification of their bond.
Looking at a larger context we will realize that Anna had a lot to influence the story, he breathed fresh air into the story which was showing a tendency to take a stagnant turn (stretched sups track, and torture track post marriage).
Imagine, the extent of damage Dutta could provide to naku and himself, if hadn't Anna been there to deviate his attention and energy . Post marriage, the character dutta, took a drastic turn, in terms of characterization'''a man who didn't thought twice before befriending a house help, once she was his wife, was so harsh on her that it touched the boundaries of cruelty. Whether we justified or not, it certainly was not being much appreciated by the viewers. But Anna, with his white attire and black intentions, re established the protagonist.
He made us realize that DSP could appoint her wife as his bodyguard (though it's sounding romantic right now, the visual was not very pleasing for me) but never ever would appoint his wife as a pawn to ful fill his territorial ambitions.
Anna was a leech, a creep, a crook who took even less than a sec to abandon his wife just at mere sight of beauty more eye pleasing and youthful, went to the extent to molesting her but he made us realize why Nakusha dutta patil WORSHIPS her austere husband!
Anna was dutta's counter part in every true sense, later or former every oppose dutta faced could niether meet dutta's nor anna's stature. It was through him that viewers got to witness "the true underworld rivalry" .
With baaji going grim due all the negativity around his bhau's life, it was Anna, who gave a touch of humor to the story, be it his gestures or his linguistic skills. The mix of Hindi, English and the local dialect, came out to be really hilarious. Yes, he was humorous, yet this trait never came in between his character sketch of being someone associated with "the dark world", like him even his humor was black having the potential to injure for life. Tying a girl with a scare crow, or forcefully applying soot on her may sound or appear funny, but it's traumatizing.
As ani said, he was a villain worthy to the protagonist of the show. Such was the impact of his on the show, that every anti hero introduced after him was expected to be somewhat similar to him. He became a cult in the world of Laagi Tujhse Lagan. If DSP was Ram, he played perfect Raavan!
I must acknowledge the actor Murli Sharma, for the perfect portrayal of Anna, he was brilliant in the portrayal of a psychopath! A graduate from Roshan Taneja's school of acting, the actor has a theatre background, no wonder he did wonders!
