Character of the week

Babi.

chik chik chik chik.

I must honestly admit that I have not seen LTL from the beginning. I did start watching...but Mahi's performance was not powerful enough for me to keep watching...I watch the show from the day Dutta appeared in the show.

Babi is a very strong woman...who has been through a lot...but never given up. She is very loved... by her second husband and her kids.

Because of her first born daughter's wrong choice and disappearing... she choose to put black color on her second daughters face.

I would like to ask you all...was it the right thing to do? Would you have done the same thing in her situation?

I am not sure...what to say about this...never lived in an area like this to know how it is.
But as a mother...Make your daughter believe that her true color is a curse...make your child hide who she really is...you can say it is to keep your daughter safe...but it could also be to make your job as a mom easier.

I am personally against it. I would never ask my daughter to do something like this...so I feel more relax and in peace. Like I would never make my child live my dreams.

What I loved about Babi was the way she handled Morey...it is true what people say...A mother would do anything for her child.

Another think I never understood...why Babi lived with Ganpat...yes there was a man in the house...but where was he when he was needed?

The strength and respect Babi had in the beginning of the show...she did not need to hide her daughter's true color or have a man in the house...she was enough to make people respect her and they not get in her way.

I liked Babi's character a lot in the beginning and her relationship with her kids...later in the show her crying became too much to watch.

Babi also became a little selfish...because she did not understand Dutta and his love for Naku...maybe she never really forgave Dutta...she also had a problem with trusting men...she forgot that lie do not keep staying hidden...she forgot that Baba always had taken care of her and her family...she kind of lost her faith.

Babi's relationship with Dutta was interesting...she never accepted him as her son in law...she only saw him as Dutta Bhau...and was it not for Naku falling deeply in love with Dutta...Babi would have been against it...and that is understandable.

In few words that describe Babi is...strong...independed... mom... experience...good...loving...young and a little childish heart.

In the end I would like to say...the writers never really developed Babi's character...instead her character got more weak...pessimist and was crying all the time.

thanks ani for yur view ...

really babi was normal yet extroorinary woman...one who cared for her habby n kids ...she was stong indipendant ..but same time helpless...one women against whole the world isn't this unfair for her...still she protect her naku .. she was a mother how can mother hide beauty of her own daughter ?? its selfish and unsencitive ...how can she take full control on naku's life ..all these quoestion were right,,,
we can find all this answer in her past first of all her scecond marriage even if ganpat was better then her first hasband but really her reletionship with him was that satisfying no it was not...then her selfishes ness i remember people also teased babi for having such ugly daughter her heart must be telling whole world that her naku was a peice of gold...as ani said her older daughter mess up her whole life by her wrong disussion..then how can she take risk of naku taking wrong disussion and paid the conciquence...
ok it all abt her charecter
i will come up with rest later
becoz im tired now😆

I also liked Babi's character in the beginning...she was so strong when she was protecting Naku from Morey. Other women in her situation might have tried to sell Naku off to Morey or use her beauty to make the family's living condition a little better. Her husband was all for it (at first anyway) but she only thought of what's best for Naku. However, I can't agree what she chose for Naku (the color, the unibrow) was a good idea. Her eldest daughter let people take advantage of her and her beauty so she could get money in return, but that doesn't mean Naku would've done the same.

I did start watching...but Mahi's performance was not powerful enough for me to keep watching...I watch the show from the day Dutta appeared in the show. first of all thanks so much Ani for coming up with this thread at such a short notice ...me too started watching the show once it was confirmed that mishal would be playing the lead so even i dont possess much knowledge about what all happenened in the beginning ...

Babi is a very strong woman...who has been through a lot.rightly said ..but never given up. She is very loved... by her second husband and her kids....oops ganpat was her second husband ?? that's news to me

Because of her first born daughter's wrong choice and disappearing... she choose to put black color on her second daughters face.

I would like to ask you all...was it the right thing to do? Would you have done the same thing in her situation?..the whole story of LTL is based on this desicion of babi ...

I am not sure...what to say about this...never lived in an area like this to know how it is.yeah we have not lived nor been brought up in such areas so its difficult to say wheather it was right or wrong ..a part of me says that a mother who loved and wanted to protect her daughter took such a harsh decision which was painful both for her n nakku ... m sure even she went through hell seeing her daughter being ridiculed but then if she could stand up against morey later on then she could have done that before too .. i think she wouldnt have left any stone unturned to protect fair nakku had somebody laid an evil eye on her
But as a mother...Make your daughter believe that her true color is a curse...make your child hide who she really is.and to see her suffering so much doesnt really justify her decision ..you can say it is to keep your daughter safe...but it could also be to make your job as a mom easier.

I am personally against it. I would never ask my daughter to do something like this...so I feel more relax and in peace. Like I would never make my child live my dreams.

What I loved about Babi was the way she handled Morey.yup she went all out to attack him even he was molesting nakku publicly ..what ganpat should have done she did it ..it is true what people say...A mother would do anything for her child.

Another think I never understood...why Babi lived with Ganpat..good question ..he was good for nothing infact created more problems for mother daughter instead of solving them ...yes there was a man in the house...but where was he when he was needed?

The strength and respect Babi had in the beginning of the show...she did not need to hide her daughter's true color or have a man in the house...she was enough to make people respect her and they not get in her way.

I liked Babi's character a lot in the beginning and her relationship with her kids...later in the show her crying became too much to watch...and her pouting ...she seemed to have lost faith in herself , in her daughter and above all bappa

Babi also became a little selfish., yes she forced her thoughts n mindset on nakku , didnt allow her to live independently and freely , just to protect her she ruined her childhood and later on even her love life ..because she did not understand Dutta and his love for Naku...maybe she never really forgave Dutta...she also had a problem with trusting men.she didnt realize that her over protective nature was destroying her daughter's life and yes she didnt trust dutta at all , she only feared that in anger he might harm nakku ..she forgot that lie do not keep staying hidden...she forgot that Baba always had taken care of her and her family...she kind of lost her faith.

Babi's relationship with Dutta was interesting...she never accepted him as her son in law...she only saw him as Dutta Bhau.yup bhau , the hot headed gangster..and was it not for Naku falling deeply in love with Dutta...Babi would have been against it...and that is understandable.

In few words that describe Babi is...strong...independed... mom... experience...good...loving...young and a little childish heart.hmm she was cute ..

In the end I would like to say...the writers never really developed Babi's character...instead her character got more weak...pessimist and was crying all the time.

Wonderful Post Ani 😊.
I pressed LIKE the second time by mistake and now its not letteing me like anymore..Sorry😳..will try a bit later.
Babi was a strong and protective mother. The fact that her elder daughter was led astray made her more protective of Naku. Its easy for me to say what she did to Naku is totally unacceptable ..the person who wears the shoe knows where it pinches the most!
I liked her character till they reached Patilwadi...maybe living in someone elses house and living like an "aashrit" subdued her. Naku falling in love with DSP with the evil trio creating mischief didn't make matters easy for her also.
Agree with you Ani...somewhere down the line CVs lost Babi and diluted her character to a whimpering and misguided women.

Sana...looking forward to read the rest. 😊

Rose_Petal...totally agree with you. 👍🏼
Rose...Thanks for your comment...😃...writing about Babi was not so easy...because...like you I have not seen the show from the beginning.

Nakusha...Thank you. 😊

Ivy...thanks😃...and very well said...👍🏼... The CV could have done a lot with Babi's character...also given Dutta and babi more scenes...there was some distance between them...they where both very uncomfortable... face to face...very interesting to watch how there relationship would have develop.

Thanks Sona...😃

I agree...👍🏼...two scenes I just love...they where very emotional and powerful...was when Naku sees Supriya and Dutta together in a hug and then cry in Babi's lap.

Second when Naku hit her hands on the wall after shooting Kala...I also love Babi's advice she gave Naku - doing Naku falling in love with Dutta.

I mothers concern...for her daughters happiness and dreams that are too big for a mom to fulfill.

No! I am screaming here...NOOO! It wasn't right. Since she was so afraid, all she had to do was have Naku wear a burkha or something like that. That's it. Beauty would be hidden but the truth wouldn't be concealed. I would not have done that were I Babi.
But as a mother...Make your daughter believe that her true color is a curse...make your child hide who she really is...you can say it is to keep your daughter safe...but it could also be to make your job as a mom easier.
Tell my kid her color is a curse? Nah, I couldn't. I don't know if I'm just saying that cause I'm not in a similar situation to Babi, but I don't see what good could possibly come out of telling her that her color is her curse.
What I loved about Babi was the way she handled Morey...it is true what people say...A mother would do anything for her child.
This phase of Babi was my most favorite. She went downhill for me soon after.

Another think I never understood...why Babi lived with Ganpat...yes there was a man in the house...but where was he when he was needed?

He was out. As in out of his brains (usually). 🤔 He was Sethji's dad, even if a bad one. And he needed her. And I think those are all I can come up with. 😆

In the end I would like to say...the writers never really developed Babi's character...instead her character got more weak...pessimist and was crying all the time.

Yes, it truly was this reason why Babi got lost. No character will ever become anything if the writer doesn't allow it.
