It seems everyone's favorite picture of Kala includes her beheaded doll! 😆 It's one of mine, too. Yeah, I have more. 😛 And I agree, Kala and Dutta really could have been switched at birth were they the same age. But imagine how scary that father-daughter duo would have been for the world!

thanks ivy! mate for a great read!
I was dying to read it when you put it up after Ani did her's ,but was so het up about my own task! haaa ha ,hope Rose is not reading this, yes where was I ,so preoccupied with my write up ,that I thought it best to defer, and relish it today!
excellently penned, you have tracked her life well. She is one strong female character, who is beauty and brains.. and I think that's why to me she stands out. A women of substance, even though the substance is toxic to every one around her. In the world of spirituality,Kala brings out the essence of the eternal war betwixt good and evil; where we desperately want good to triumph, for so we have been nurtured to believe. However,to me, inspite of being born in a household with a grounded spirtual base, she seems to be a bit of an nonbeliever... its almost as if religion restricts her from reaching what she really wants for her self...
Within the realm of general entertainment channels. Kala's character, is something more ,saucy, spicy, and smart.!a welcome change from the boring, goody, house wives, who are shown as a brilliant manager of the home, what ever that consists of , hubby, in laws.. now Kala is a woman who would rather manage what she wants for herself.. she would rather weigh the options, the pros and the cons... than manage the monthly budget... I think Ivy, at least Kala has realized that she aspires for something. Her character is so potent that as viewers she leaves us asking many questions about her self... the important ,yet simple one for me is so what does Kala want?..does she know what she wants?.. as viewers she forces our mind to work that one out for ourselves! afer which she poses more questions for us ,the whys? and hows... so for me Kala is one hell of a lady! who makes me think!
love you baaby.. thanks for your thought provoking post! ..yours hammie!

Our show was not a regular saas bahu drama, where nanads (sister in law) play a key role in making the life of the female protagonist hell, and the male lead of course has nothing to do, except for may be some cheesy song sequences. This was a dark story of a gangster, still she managed to mark her presence so strongly, that it's hard to imagine the existence of the show without her! Wow' Agree with you totally...She was the main antagonist...others like morey, anna, chaskar came and went...but Kala tai was the permanent fixture. And an insider enemy who Dutta does not suspect would be the most dangerous iI mean we had counterpart of dutta like aana, still even in that particular track tai maintained her tashan without any fail. And after that track toh she was in full form, slowly and gradually she excelled herself to dutta's professional genre. When the sequence of dutta's empire overtaken by kala was introduced, I always wanted a sequence like this to be introduced since the very beginning of the show, but never could I imagine at that point that kala will be the one to do it, I always thought that it would be any of the dutta's rivals, but when the sequence actually took place, never for once I felt that it was inappropriate of kala's character. With every progression of the show, her character too progressed.

Till now I've believed that the moment dutta's character was introduced, the show became his entity,Isn't that the truth and nothing but the truth. I wished the detractors had agreed to this! . No points for guessing that every track introduced in the show, revolved around dutta, and naku being her opposite lead was shown affected the most (except the FR track), but now when I look back, I realize that every track which concerned dutta, did the same to kala as well, I mean who can forget her expression right after tasha's first marriage, she was equally shattered as dutta (the reasons of course being different), when DP's track was introduced, it was an encounter of their respective past, they both were affected. Many such similar incidences could be cited if we give a close look at the show.

So, in my opinion kala is one of the corner stones who helped the show establish as a sky scraper. The show not only talked about the journey of dutta and nakusha, it talked equally about kala's as well. She owes the show!

Kala had contributed a lot in making Datta what he was. She was with him since his childhood days. He was her mohra, That's very well put whose life she loved playing with. She was a sister a brother should not get if he want's to be happy in life.
Kala, without her there will be no LTL be it 1 or 2. She is one of those stand alone characters that made LTL what it is!

great post ivy, kala what a fascinating character, i wonder what she would have done if dutta had remained poor and insignificant. how would she have gone about getting her revenge from...DP and DSP.
i always judge any character with real life people from what i read or see on tv. and thats why i do know there are such very cruel mothers in this world who do any thing for money. kill thre own children too. kala had no emotional attachment with annay. if she didn't harm at the time she would if she became more desperate
i think as she became more and more unsuccessful in her attempts to keep him unhappy the more determined she became to thwart him, she became obsessed, her motto probably was i will kill him even if it kills me. for that she even went to nana sahab and try and seduce him also.
