If you stick around long enough on IF you will realize it. I think the true test of of a forum is how most majority behaves when a member who holds an opposite POV to the majority expresses her views.
Today if you open a thread trashing Mishal people will patiently thank you for expressing your views and express their own without imposing their opinions. In another forum everyone will report you and get you banned!
Regarding the debate of Mishal vs Barun's acting skills IMO I dont find Barun a good actor. But acting like beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder so Barun's fans will not agree with me.
Anyways thats my opinion which you might disagree. I do hope you enjoy your stay here.😊

Shreya, thank you so much. I really appreciate this. See this is what's ironic about this entire discussion - I actually really like Mishal. I think he has talent in spades - I do hope he keep doing at least some theatre as he waits for film offers to drop in because it would be a shame to see him fritter it away like this.

At the end of the day, we are just discussing the talents of two soap opera actors - not the relative merits of Naseeruddin Shah vs Gerard Depardieu 😛.

I had seen him performing at one Sony serial... and there he had done good work... Role was apt for him... His voice modulation in current show was very bad... infact I shouldn't call that voice modulation... As Ani says that he is improving... but still I would not like to compare to MR...

Coming to the role he is doing... I would not like MR to do such lame role...that doesn't have any scope to showcase his talent...

Waise on first note... I was laughing when BS was compared to MR...

And MR as ASR... Noways... He deserves best...
And ASR reminds me of of my birthcity acronym... 😆

LOL I'm not hurt by anything you said, Anirka...I just stated my point generally...now you also are saying some of the same things I've said yet the fact that I said them has been made a big deal out of in here...cuz I said it in a direct manner I guess...that is my fault...if I was also running around trying to be diplomatic and placating all the time, koi problem hi nahin hoti.

And I'm still waiting to see proof of BS's "voice modulation" skills which it seems are beyond someone's ability to provide😆...

I don't understand how this thread turned into a discussion of Barun's talents. All I had said was that Mishal would have been good as ASR and I still stand by it. We can respectfully disagree about our assessments without the needless condescension.

The acerbic tone on this forum is disappointing to say the least. I'm actually an admirer of Mishal's and have only good things to say about him. But I must say his phangirls do him disservice.

It's a good thing Mishal has a day job which allows him to be choosy about what he wants to play. I'd shudder to think of the brickbats that would come his way if heaven forbid he does take on a standard love story.

@bold...This is how discussion threads work, you know. One thing leads to another. I wasn't trying to be condescending in my post but I guess I was, unintentionally...or rather, if I be frank and say this, my condescension wasn't meant for you or for Barun in that matter, it was only for his acting skills..or its lack thereof. If you are offended by that, I can't help it...just the way you can't help offending me by even considering Mishal and Barun in the same league. (It pains me to even write their names in the same sentence...oh, yes, Fangirl with a capital F.) But see, I'm not taking that personally...I'm not even arguing with you about that opinion because that's your opinion. I gave mine.

@blue...Dutta Bhao was too amazing a character for him to come back with something better but if by a 'standadrd love story' you mean the kind of love story that your CT show is, then, yes, I might lose all respect for him as an actor for doing such a role and I might be the first one to send him a condescending hatemail despite that capital F fangirlism.

Anyway, as I said, I have no intentions of getting into an argument because your post was enough for me to realize that would be futile. I'm only replying to this because you have quoted my post and mentioned how disappointing this forum's for you. Personally, I don't care about that but I think others here do...so just to clarify things. I'm usually not even here, so my post and tone should not be criteria for you to judge this forum.

You didn't exactly reply to my point directly about Barun's voice modulation...since you've already told me that I don't have the knowledge to speak about both actors since I haven't watched Mr. Sobti's show so clearly, please do me the favor of posting one scene of Mr. Sobti's alongside one of MR from LTL...I'm most curious to know which scene Mr. Sobti enacted that had his voice modulation similar/equivalent to that of MR.

I'll gladly bow to your superior knowledge of Greek and all things otherwise then😆...also I don't get where I said I know MR so well...I never denied being a fangirl of his...since you pointed out "context" so well, I'll also attempt to...I'm a fan of his but I said I don't even need to be one to see the GLARINGLY obvious difference b/w what he is an actor and what Barun Sobti isn't.

But is Barun aware of how well YOU seem to know his voice modulation? I'd think woh khud bhi apni acting se itna impressed nahin hoga😆

Apology accepted.

I have a feeling you think voice modulation means affecting a booming, commanding voice. What it actually means is altering the tone and pitch to suit a character and situation. It isn't even something to make a fuss about - it's pretty much the bread and butter of a professional actor. There are natural differences between Mishal and Barun's voices - a booming baritone is hard for Barun, a soft, husky low tone voice is hard for Mishal.

As for clips - please go look for them yourself on YT. There are plenty.

Ha ha - It amuses me no end to be thought of as Barun's fangirl. I think the closest I came to being a fangirl of anyone is Richard Armitage, but that's pretty much it.

Don't be so sure - actors have massive egos. Har actor apne aapko bond samajhta hai. They have to - otherwise they'd never survive this harsh, uncertain profession.

What is CT show?

You want to send Mishal hatemail for acting in a conventional love story? Ho gaya beda gark!! With fans like you, who needs...

Please get off your condescending high horse and realise that we are having this discussion on a website dedicated to discussing television soap operas. If you want your intellectual fix - may I suggest a few Kurosawa and Jafar Panahi films for you?

Let the poor soul be - this is the sort of needless creative arrogance that is the death of a working actor. Pavan Malhotra once discussed this (by the way, one of my favourite Indian actors - watch his Bagh Bahadur - sublime - will teach you a thing or two about the body language of an actor). He said he was in dire financial straits because he refused overtly commercial work - and that later commercial directors were a lot more respectful of his talents and willing to pay him promptly for it than the non-mainstream filmmakers.

Mishal is very lucky to have been born with the luxury of not relying on acting to pay his bills - otherwise your statement would be cruel to the extreme.

Amazing! And you call our posts condescending...oh but wait, of course, I might not know the correct meaning of condescension.

You've displayed it amply - perhaps you know it without really knowing it, you know?

This thread has turned into a comparison of 2 actors...correct me if I am wrong, but the Laagi Tujhse Lagan forum is specifically created to talk about the characters, actors and storyline. Why Barun Sobti is suddenly the topic of discussion is beyond me. If individuals wish to discuss Barun Sobti's acting as ASR, kindly visit the appropriate forum that would be Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon which is currently airing. Thread has gone off a tangent completely and become a battlefield of sorts.

Just a small reminder:

It's alright to have differences of opinion regarding your favorite actors or an actor's performances. But it is NOT okay to attack members in an attempt to make your argument. If someone likes an actor, good for them! But if someone doesn't, they aren't automatically to be considered wrong or ridiculed.

This forum has been pretty good at having civilized discussions. Lets not change that now. And attacking members or their personal opinions will NOT be tolerated either.

Thanks guys!

Regards,
LTL Dev. Team
