@bold... yes indeed they do bt u learn 2 address people as u grow up according to the relation u share with them right? and u r told by the elders in ur family mainly the mother hw 2 address other ppl...as in ones mother will teach her kid to call her aayi and call her elder sister tai etc... however madhu had no relation except her dad and tht lady whom if u notice she addressed as durga TAI...to her they wer her onli family, and so only learnt to address them in the way she should do... there was no1 else der no elder sis or bro whom she wud address as bhao or tai...also with madhu i think she does knw hw 2 address her relations properly bt jus doesnt out of choice and many ppl do tht, i.e. my friend calls her big sis by her name evn tho she knws tht she's meant 2 call her didi... as i hav mentioned b4 madhu may hav been born n bought up til the age of 12 in india bt she knws very little abt indian culture...thts obv by the way in which she knws nothing abt the general traditions etc...i feel the way she addresses the family fits in with her character (sum1 whos indian bt lived abroad n has very little knowledge of her roots) n believe it or nt many ppl here generally address their elder bros and sister in laws (be it indian family or pakistani family) as bhaiyya and bhabhi...its the common term of language... so m nt surprised tht she calls dutta and naku bhaiya n bhabhi...Originally posted by: kshreya2002
I agree on the black bold bits.
Abt the red bits I disagree. Madhu was 10-12 when she moved to UK. By then children are old enough to atleast know how people are addressed in a family. I mean a baby's first word is maa and second word is papa. After that within a span of 4-5 years kids know how to address people. I know this as I have seen kids in the family pick up how to address people by the time they are 2-3. And Madhu wasnt completely alone. She had a Maharashtrian lady who looked after her.

ksh m nt saying she wasnt... read my comment in bold i sed she does knw hw 2 address bt doesnt out of own choice...see she called her nanny durga TAI...n balu as Kaka which proves she does knw the relations n hw 2 address bt doesnt out of her own choice...look at hw dutta despite being younger than leela calls leela by her name n nt Tai...i think its jus a personal choice of addressing them the way she does...Originally posted by: kshreya2002
Yuvi: I certainly think Madhu was old enough to learn how to address people when she left India. But looks like you wont agree with me. So lets agree to disagree!😊
