@Anu: Regarding Naku's dialogues, I'm with you. I found it convincing how she was assuring Dutta in the kitchen that she understood his motivations so didn't mind the slap at all. Exactly what I had expected her to say. But somehow the whole spiked drink incident and Naku playing along with Kala, as if she wanted to gauge Dutta's reactions, didn't make much sense to me. It looked like the CVs were desperate to drown Dutta in remorse and couldn't think of a better way.
Great post as usual kavitha...the way u find little symbols in the tale make it seem larger then life....like the kala scene...i m sure many of must have not seen it in the same light as u but now its seems like one of the highpoints of the episode and well done by the CVs.

I found Nakku's declarations of "haq" and "aapne mujhe sabke saamne apnaya, mujhe achha laga" sorta loopy....didn't really make much sense to me.....and I think I'm the only one who feels this....lol...but anyways....to me, those were the only slightly uncomfortable and odd moments to watch in what were otherwise great scenes....but I guess I can see what you're trying to say about her trying to uphold his authority in front of all the guests....still don't understand her "aapne mujhe sabke saamen apnaya" line though...that is deffo loopy Nakku to me....lolHi Anu,
I would associate it with the common acceptance by a large majority of Indian/Asian women to defer to a form of subdued (not necessarily all the time) rough treatment as a measure of the husband's love and sense of possessiveness. A tad bit regressive, i find but LTL apart from its universal theme of love is still deeply rooted in an obscure village reminiscent of many such villages in India where the husband is Parmeshwar (God) and has "rights" per se. And it is also true in many cases that the husband despite the fact that he loves the wife feels the need to "exercise this right" so to say......!I find it surprising but I have seen it some non-Asian households in UK and that shocked me but to each their own as we say....And the wheels of life keep running.😕

Phew! I thought I was the only one....see since morning I've only heard unanimous praise for the epi so I was wondering if these few bits were something that only I found jarring :S
Exactly....what she said to Dutta in the kitchen scene to console him and say that was just his love that he expressed through the slap....that makes sense....but when she went off onto her "Aapne mujhe sabke saamne apnaya, mujhe bahut achha laga" trips, I was just sitting there going...hain?😕😆......And yes I also found the first bit of the epi with Nakku now talking as if she went along with the whole spiked drink incident on purpose didn't quite add up for me either....there are too many loopholes there also....the excuse she gave (just in front of the guests I guess) that she was so happy due to good things happening in her life, that she was dancing in joy over that? Ummmm😆😆.....a lot to swallow....
Anyways yes I guess this episode is supposed to be about Dutta's remorse and they didn't bother trying to make too much sense with the rest.....lol....I guess like you, I too am trying to ignore Nakku's filmypana in this epi and focus on the rest.
The DN scenes were what made the epi nice.....those were some truly touching scenes.....and with some great dialogues and interaction b/w them.....

@In bold: I think someone pointed out the negative reactions to the preview may have prompted the CVs to make some changes...hence the sloppy edited in yesterday's epi where they cut some bits.

I find the idea of having dinner alone very sad. Mornings breakfast are a rush...lunches are busy...but dinner should be a time for relaxation and time for family. Yet many people living alone all over the world have dinner alone. But Dutta has a huge family surrounding him who supposedly love him. So it was sad to see him come home and try and look for some food to have. But Dutta isnt really alone and his soulmate responded to his loneliness. It was so touching to see Dutta and Naku sitting on the kitchen floor and she serving and feeding him. It reminded me of their humble roots and the fact that though today they may very wealthy they are still in touch with their roots...their inner selves.
Another thing that touched me abt the epi yesterday was Dutta and Naku both as sad not for themselves but because they couldnt give happiness to each other.
