@ MAAHI_RCKZZ: Hey 😃- thank you so much, she will enter very soon 😉. Will update soon, and have added you to the list 😳. x
@ mIsSy.x: You've got to tell me your name hun, I find it amusing calling you Missy 😆, unless you want me to of course 😆. But anyway, yep you gave me that little push into posting it 🤗. I'm glad you like it so far- I guess Dutta will be irresistible no matter what, huh? ☺️😆 Yup, in that teaser Naku refused him, she put him in his place 😆. Thanks for the lovely comment 😳. Oh, the story will contain many tempting moments, haha 😉☺️. x
@ PaNa4ever: Hey Borna! 😳 Thank you 🤗- ah, yes, Dutta is completely different in both the stories 😆. You're spot on, he is a paradox- he admires his parents for the loving relationship they share but never once imagines settling down and experiencing those same feelings 😛. His change will come very soon, because Nakusha is entering into his life very soon 😉😆. Thanks again Borna 😳. x
@ Sophia: Thank you so much 😃, I'm happy you like it so far. I'll be continuing shortly, and will PM you when I post the next chapter 😳. x
@ Kavita: Hello. I'm relatively new to this forum, only been here about two months 😳. Just started my other FF a week ago called 'Thaam Le Mera Haath'. I wrote them on the couple that I adored Prem and Heer, and thought I'd see what response I get presenting it with Dutta and Nakusha 😆. I totally agree with you, Mishal has this very suave, yet feisty look about him- he'd be perfect in that kind of role. Yet I feel it's so overdone in Indian television nowadays 🥱, we're hardly shown any profession that goes against the grain, something unique- and LTL, the show, is doing that by taking it down the gangster/don route, which is one of the things that drew me to it 😳. However, still I'm always inclined to showing the male characters in my FFs as businessmen, my habit as always, haha 😆! Will add you to the list, thank you for reading and for the lovely comment 😳. x
@ Vika: Hiya- thanks a lot, I'm pleased you enjoyed reading the first chapter 😳. To be honest, I can't picture him in this role either, haha 😆. But anyway, Nakusha will be making her entrance in the next chapter 😳. I will add you to the PM list 😃. x
@ ushankitvc: Thank you so much for the comment 😃. You'll have to wait until the next chapter to see if she's the new maid 😉, so many members are suggesting the same thing 😆. I'll send you a message when I update 😳. x
@ Shilpita87: Hello there! 😆 Good to see you here too 😳. Awww, thank you so much, you're making me blush 😳. Totally agree, you just want to hate him, but he's too irresistible ☺️. Oh, that is too besharam for me to put into words, haha! ☺️ *hides face* 😆 I think Shreeram would get a heart attack on the spot! 🤣 Oh dearie, lol 😆. Thanks again! 😆 x
@ vaniabi: Thank you 😃. I know, his behaviour is pretty disgraceful, but Nakusha will soon be sorting him out, haha 😆! I shall PM you when I post the next chapter 😃. x
@ sasha_1: Thanks a lot, hun 😳. Glad you liked the first chapter 😃- I'll add you to the list. x
@ Nupur: Awww, thanks for the lovely comment 😳. I shall add you to the list, and will be updating shortly 😊. x
@ ksg18: Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed reading it 😳. Will PM you when I post the next part 😃. x

~ Chapter Two ~
Dutta grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer. He did not think that anything could spoil this moment, yet suddenly out of the corner of his eye he noticed something. Letting go of Reena's wrists, he moved towards the door and peered his head out simply to see the corridor empty. He was pretty sure that something or someone had just soared past the outside of his room and that something had caught his eye. Of course, he had been too occupied with Reena to realize that he had carelessly left the door wide open. He should have been more careful about these matters, considering his mother was back home. Determined to find out what that flash of scarlet was that had just captured his attention, he ambled downstairs to see his father and mother thoroughly engaged in a conversation.
'Hello beta, where have you been all day?' asked Shakuntala and patted the empty seat next to her, hoping he would spend some time with her.
'I was busy sorting out a deal,' he lied fluently, 'Uh...was someone upstairs by my room a while ago?' asked Dutta simply.
Shreeram and Shakuntala simply looked at each other and shrugged.
'No, beta...but why are you asking?' asked Shakuntala.
'Oh nothing...I thought I saw someone. Anyway, excuse me, I'm quite thirsty so I will just get myself a glass of water and then get back to my work,' he said and left for the kitchen.
Shreeram suddenly patted his forehead, 'Oh wait...I just remembered...that must have been Naku up there,' he said.
'Naku...who is Naku?' frowned Shakuntala.
Shreeram reminded Shakuntala of their search for domestic help and made her aware of his decision to hire Nakusha Mahale, the daughter of his late friend. He assured Shakuntala that he trusted Nakusha with all his heart and was sure that she would not let them down as Roshni had done. Nakusha had sadly lost her parents as a teenager in a fatal car crash, leaving her and her younger sister Roopvati with little to survive with. With her younger sister Roopvati depending on Nakusha as her only support, Nakusha desperately needed this job to provide for the only family she had left. Shreeram had grimaced over the fact that he hadn't known about the crash earlier, otherwise he would have been able to help the girls, but Nakusha, being the steadfast self-respecting girl that she was refused to take any money without earning it. Therefore Shreeram employing her was the only way he could directly solve her problems. He had even offered to keep Roopvati in the house also, yet Nakusha insisted that Roopvati continue her studies abroad. For Roopvati was the only person she lived for, Nakusha made sure to send her sister money every month- she was happy doing odd cleaning jobs here and there, as long as she secured her younger sister's future.

Dutta sauntered towards the kitchen feeling parched. He was just towards the door when he heard the faint sound of a certain female humming. The sound grew louder and louder as he edged forwards, the soft low melody of her singing intriguing him. She had her back faced to him, as she placidly moved her body in harmony with the beats of her jingle. He smirked as he watched her shake her head to the rhythm, fully absorbed in cutting the vegetables, lost in her own world and unaware of everything else around her. Fascination washing over him he impulsively reached his arm out and placed his hand on her shoulder.
'Hello?' he hesitated.
Startled by his touch and the sudden interruption of his voice into her thoughts, Nakusha jumped and accidently struck her finger with the knife. The realisation of pain did not appear until she noticed the red liquid trickle to the surface of her skin. She held on to her finger and whimpered in pain as Dutta immediately began spluttering into a wave of apologies.
'I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have startled you like that,' he said and hurried for the first aid box.
All the while Nakusha gazed at him in awe, surprisingly feeling no pain as she watched him gently wrap the cotton bandage around her finger.
'Are you okay?' his deep sensuous voice cut through the air, bringing her back to planet earth as she looked up to see him gazing at her with an inscrutable expression that almost scared her. She simply nodded, finding her concentration levels slowly falling as she met those intense dark eyes. After the stark realisation that her hand still settled in his grasp, she slowly pulled away and her eyes darted to the floor.
'You can stop crying now,' Dutta said.
In response, Nakusha raised her hand to wipe her tears. 'I am guessing you are Roshni's replacement, right? What's your name?' he asked, a desire to know more about her strumming away at him.
'Nakusha'Saab,' she answered, keeping her eyes fixed on the floor, afraid of looking up again.
'I apologize again for scaring you like that'I didn't mean for you to get hurt,' Dutta said genuinely.
She stared at her bandaged finger and shook her head. 'No you don't need to apologise Saab, it was an accident, and I wasn't concentrating,' she said meekly.
'Well, I just came to get a glass of water,' he started.
Nakusha immediately scuttled to the fridge to take out the mineral water and poured her new boss a glass of water. Dutta expressed a small thank you and left to finish off what he had started. At this moment in time Dutta had not the slightest clue that this woman had left a lasting impression on him.

Nakusha lay on her bed staring at the ceiling pondering over her life. Shreeram Uncle had been so generous to let her stay in the house. Thinking about Shreeram Uncle instantly brought a smile to her face, as he reminded her of her father, incredibly warm and giving. He treated her like a daughter and had even offered to solve all her financial problems. She herself chose to stay in the servant's quarter, not complaining in the slightest, her mind drifting to images of the sordid places she had lived in the past. The only reason she lived was for her sister, otherwise she would have broken down years ago. She knew that her life was incomplete, there was something lacking in her life which had led her to put up a barrier between her and the world. There were only a few people she felt she could trust, one being Shreeram Uncle and the other being her sister Roops, for whom she would lay down her life. As she turned to her side, Nakusha brought her hand up to gaze at her index finger, which would painfully throb ever couple of minutes. Closing her lids gently, the last thing she thought of before letting sleep take over her were those crystal clear black eyes that had stared into hers just hours ago.

'So is there any plan of coming back home then?' Dutta asked his best friend, Baajirao on the phone as he treaded to the kitchen.
Baajirao had been in Dutta's life for as long as he could remember, always there to share his troubles and joys. Losing his parents at a tender age, Baaji had been welcomed by Shreeram and Shakuntala into their home with open arms. He and Dutta did not need to have the same blood running through their veins to see each other as brothers. Everyone in the town would give examples of their friendship and knew how much they cared for each other.
Dutta laughed at the sound of a small groan on the other end of the line. 'Are things that bad?'
'You know I love her. I'm not coming home until I confess to her how I feel,' he answered, and Dutta shook his head. He did not understand how someone could be as foolish as to falling in love.
'Baaji'You completed your degree two months ago and were supposed to be home by now, even Baba's been asking about your return!'
'I know Dutta, but I can't help it. She still has a year before she finishes her degree. I can't lose her so I have to tell her that I love her before I leave London. Help me, please?' pleaded Baaji.
'You know that I like to stay miles away from this word love, so unfortunately I will be of no use to you,' laughed Dutta.
'I'm not talking about helping me with the confessing part, I know you will be of no help in that department!' Baaji joked. 'I am talking about you covering for me with Aayi and Baba'.
'What is that supposed to mean?' responded Dutta.
'What is what supposed to mean?' Baaji answered back nonchalantly.
'The part you said about me being no help in that 'department'?! Do you really want me to come all the way to London and give you one ghuma ke?' initiated Dutta, leading to both friends falling into laughter instantly. Dutta dropped on the sofa stretching his legs out across the length of the settee, thoroughly content as he listened to Baaji delve into details of his lady love.
Dutta had decided to send Reena home early, knowing what a close call it had been earlier in the day. After ending the phone call, Dutta decided to retire to his bedroom, stopping in his tracks as he passed the servant's quarter. He turned his head and saw that the door had been left open. He saw Nakusha peacefully sleeping inside. Strangely, he found himself remembering the way she had flinched at his touch as he had grabbed her hand earlier which, for some reason, had intrigued him. A sudden urge to go inside her room filled him and he found himself walking forwards. Stopping and shaking his head, Dutta suddenly retreated, wondering what was wrong with him. Beating the temptation, he walked upstairs to his room, thinking that a few hours sleep would do him some a good.

The following day Shakuntala walked into the kitchen, smiling as she watched Nakusha stir the pan. She went to stand next to Nakusha and put her hand on her shoulder. 'It smells great Naku,' she said warmly and Nakusha smiled. 'How are you finding it in our house?' asked Shakuntala, 'I hope you have settled in well.'
Nakusha nodded, 'It feels just like home. I have settled in really well Aunty,' she replied, and Shakuntala gently touched her cheek. 'I would love for you to call me Aayi. A daughter is the one thing I have always longed for,' said Shakuntala.
Shakuntala changed the topic. 'Naku, I needed some things from the market, will you be able to go today and get them for me?' she asked and Nakusha straightaway nodded.
Shakuntala turned and began shouting. 'Dutta...Dutta!!' she called.
As Dutta entered the kitchen a few moments later, looking striking in a white shirt, the sleeves rolled up and a red tie hanging loosely around his neck, Nakusha looked down at the floor, afraid to look up.
'Yes Aayi?' Dutta asked.
'Beta, can you take Naku to the market. I need her to get a few things for me and I don't think she will be able to carry it all by herself. So please can you take her in the car?' asked Shakuntala.
Dutta looked at Nakusha for a moment before looking back at his mother. 'Sure, no problem. I'll be outside waiting,' he obeyed and left to get the car out.
Nakusha tried to protest, asserting that she would be able to cope on her own but Shakuntala was having none of it. She placed the list in Nakusha's hand and dropped her to the door, waving her a goodbye.
Nakusha apprehensively stepped outside and walked towards the car. She saw Dutta waiting patiently in the car and sought to take a seat in the back of the car. As he noticed this, Dutta turned his head to look at her. 'Hey'I am not your driver! Come sit at the front,' Dutta ordered, leaning over and opening the passenger door for her.
Nakusha glanced at him for a split second and quickly looked down at her finger, hoping he had not noticed. 'It's much better now, thank you,' she replied.
'Good,' he said simply.
The rest of the car journey was spent in silence, with both glancing at each occasionally and their eyes darting away immediately. On arrival at the market, Nakusha confidently went around to different stalls, negotiating on prices, with Dutta following behind her, watching her every movement. Having bought all the things that Shakuntala had asked for, Dutta and Nakusha made their way back to his car.
'Do you really think you will be able to carry all those bags by yourself?' Dutta smarted, staring at the countless bags that Nakusha held.
Her mouth was open and her cheeks displayed a slight flush. 'It's okay, I can manage,' she hesitated.
'Really? Because these strong arms are here for a reason',' Dutta arrogantly pointed to his arms.
Nakusha's eyes lingered on them for a second, imagining how it would feel to have those arms around her waist, holding her close. Appalled at her thoughts, she shook her head, 'No, really, I can carry them,' resisted Nakusha.
'Fine, your wish,' Dutta said and went to lean casually against the car.
Nakusha shambled forwards, juggling the bags between her arms, trying to keep hold of them with great effort. Dutta watched her struggle with the bags and found a small grin spread across his face. Before Nakusha knew it, he was inches away from her, extending his arms forward to take the bags.
'I hate to interrupt all the fun that you are having with these bags, but I don't want you falling down and embarrassing yourself,' he said cheekily and Nakusha's jaw dropped open.
Dutta laughed at her riled expression as he took the bags from her and put them in the boot of the car. He took a seat in the car and just stared at her out of the window, smirking, clearly enjoying himself. Trying not to show her fury, remembering that he was her boss, Nakusha took in a deep breath to calm herself and took a seat in the front of the car beside him. She crossed her arms and stared out of the window as he steered the car off the curb of the road and drove back home.
