First time blues

The first time an actor comes in front of a camera, there is a sense of nervousness. 'Will I mess it up?' is the thought going through all their heads. Our television actors, who are popular today, all started by being unknown names. We asked a few of them what they felt when they faced the camera for the first time.

Ashka Goradia: I was very nervous while shooting for my first show Kkusum. My nervousness wasn't a result of facing camera for first time, but because of the presence of my co-actors. They were all very popular celebs when I was making my debut.

Earn well, save well but don't be a chindi, go out and spend too : Mahhi Vij

Mahhi Vij

The Laagi Tujhse Lagan actress Mahhi Vij knows the importance of money but she also loves to spend it. She talks to TellyChakkar about how calculative she is when it comes to saving money.

How important is money for you?
Very important.

Are you an impulsive buyer?
Yes, I am.

What are the investments you have made?
I have bought this property for my parents. I also keep buying gold. I am a very calculative person when it comes to handling money.

What is your most expensive purchase?
My car, my furniture and the house that I bought recently, I think there are many.

Do you feel financially secure?
In the profession I am in, one can never be financially secure. But, I am independent and had started working when I was just 16. We have this habit that if we have ten rupees in our pocket we want hundred and if we have a crore we still want more.

Who handles your expenses?
I handle everything for myself.

What was your first salary?
My first salary was 5,000 and I was teaching in a kindergarten.

How much money do you carry every day?
I do not carry cash I just carry a card. For if I have cash in my wallet I will spend it all on my food; or I will order food for the entire unit.

Any advice for investors?
I thing one should invest in property and gold. But, please spend too don't be a chindi, go out and do some shopping.

Article: Mishal in Irrfan's shoes

Mishal Raheja will be now seen carrying out the role of the narrator in the second season of Mano Ya Na Mano. He will be replacing actor Irrfan Khan, who was seen in the first season. The difference will be that while Irrfan hosted the show from within the studio, Mishal will be seen travelling to various places. Mishal, who is currently busy with Laagi Tujhse Lagan, we hear loves travelling and this show may just bring him respite from the endless hours that the our telly actors have to spend on the sets.

Mouli Ganguly in Laagi Tujhse Lagan Mouli Ganguly, who was last seen in Nach Baliye, has made an entry in Laagi Tujhse Lagan to create havoc in Anna (Murli Sharma)'s life. Says Mouli, "My role is interesting and it gives the lead characters another chance to think and realise about their love for each other. And even though I am playing Anna's wife, my character is not negative."

So with so many cues, will Datta finally realise how much he loves Nakusha? In the meanwhile, Kalawati (Aashka Goradia) is trying her level best to poison Datta's mind against Nakusha. Will Datta act wisely and rescue Nakusha or will he stay under the influence of Kalawati? We just have to wait and watch.

Roping in GenX Mishal Raheja, who will be hosting the second season of Maano Ya Na Maano, is confident of two things. Firstly, he's sure that the show will attract the younger generation and secondly, the actor plans to lend a new perspective to the show. "I'm hoping to rope in the younger generation to watch the serial. I think that was the producers' idea too. Or else why would they rope in a younger anchor like me for the second season? (The show was earlier hosted by actor Irrfan Khan). In my childhood days, whenever I would visit my grandmother, she would always narrate some superstitious stories to me. I didn't believe her entirely, but there was no reason to doubt her too. I think I'll be able to bring in a balanced view in the show."

The actor, who has risen to popularity with his serial Lagi Tujhse Lagan, says that the moment he read the script of Maano Ya Na Maano, he knew that it was the kind of serial that he wanted to anchor. Quiz Raheja on whether it's a tall task replacing Irrfan Khan and he says, "Not really. Also I don't think that as an actor, I have ventured into anchoring at an early stage in my career. It had to happen sometime. So why not now, " reasons the actor.

I can't copy Irrfan: Mishal Raheja

Popular as Dutta Bhau, Mishal Raheja will be seen hosting Mano Ya Na Mano Season 2, a reality show with true stories based on strange facts and interesting people.

"I have discovered abundant talent and different things around India which I never expected in villages. Every story will surprise the audience, the scariest was "khoon ke aasu", in which a girl had blood flowing from her eyes as tears," he reveals.

Will Dutta Bhau's popularity add to Mano Ya Mano's TRPs? "I just wish it does, it will good for my show," he says.

From a daily soap to a reality show, how difficult was it? "Initially it was difficult because in a daily soap we don't look into the camera whereas an anchor needs to constantly look into the camera," says Mishal. "I believe as an actor you should be ready for hard work and adjustment."

Mishal, who is both excited and nervous about the show, says "Though we have just shot two episodes so far, the journey and experience has been fantastic." When asked if he is scared, he says, "Not at all, we are only telling stories. Since childhood I have been going to Goa with my grandparents and have been hearing about ghosts and paranormal activities," he reminisces.

The best moment? "This is my first show as an anchor and when my director and producer appreciated me for my first shot, I was on cloud nine. Mano Ya Na Mano is a dream come true."

Did he watch the previous seasons of the show? "Yes I did but I can't copy Irrfan Khan because the audience always looks forward to new things. I learnt sincerity, dedication and hard work from him."

Any Bollywood plans? He laughs, "Just waiting for some good opportunities."

Pets are family

Animal lovers treat their pets like a part of their family and ask any pet owner about the advantages of having a pet and they cannot stop gushing. We spoke to some TV stars about these special additions in their family.

Mishal Raheja
I recently bought my pet dog, Amigo, he is a golden retriever. I always dreamt of having a pet since childhood, but my parents never allowed me to get one home. Having a pet is a great stress buster. After my shoot I like to unwind by playing with him and pampering him. Amigo has brought a very positive change in my life. He is the cutest thing on earth and the best reason to come home.

Mahhi Vij

Mahhi Vij is on cloud 9 personally as well as professionally. Her character Nakusha in 'Laagi Tujhse Lagan' is being appreciated by audiences and is bringing in good TRPs. Apart from that, she recently got engaged to actor Jay Bhanushali in a private ceremony where most of her industry friends also turned up.

Mahhi's two favorite actors are Salman Khan and Aishwariya Rai Bachchan and her favorite film is Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

She had met Aishwariya Rai Bachchan at an event a few months back where she was the host and Aishwariya had praised her that she reminds her of her own initial days as she resembles her. And now Mahhi got to meet and shoot with none other than Superstar Salman Khan who made a guest appearance in her show to promote his latest film Dabaang.

Sallu's character, Chulbul Pandey, steps up to save the lead Nakusha, played by Mahhi Vij. Salman plays the same role of a cop, just like the way he played in the movie, Dabangg and helps her out.

Mahhi feels she is fortunate enough to meet big successful stars as well as share space with them be it an event or television.

Well, seems you could wish for a million dollars right now and get it!

About Mishal Raheja:

STRUM ALONG:

I love to play the guitar... it's really a stress buster for me. I learnt it for six months from a professional teacher, during my college days, before I went off to the States.

Though I don't get too much time due to my hectic shooting
schedules, I do manage to strum it whenever I can, sometimes even if it is late at night. I have a bias towards western music, and I rock at the La Bamba.

Though I have an on-off affair with the guitar, once I pick it up, I can go on playing it for hours, till my fingers hurt. Basically I have the knack for music but not the patience and time to pursue it.

Mishal dating Riddhi Dogra?
Buzz up!

Mishal Raheja who shot to fame as Aakash of Love Story and later as Datta Bhau of Laagi Tujhse Lagan is infamous for throwing attitude and weight around but in real life he is like any other guy who knows how to fall in love despite his bratty image.

To all those ladies who go weak in their knees everytime they see Raheja on-screen, this piece of information is to be read at their own risk. According to our sniffers, Raheja has been taken. The lad is apparently dating his original on-screen love-interest, Riddhi Dogra, who was later dethroned by Naku (Mahhi Vij). The latter might have won his heart on-screen but Mishal's heart still beats for his former love-interest off-screen. The two are dating each other and love to be together whenever time permits them to.

Riddhi gave us the safest reply which has been labeled as clich answer in the industry. She said, "We are not dating but are just very good friends. We hang out with our group of friends and catch up with movies and go out to dine together. There is nothing beyond friendship to this."

Mishal remained unavailable for his comment.

We wonder when our television couples would start admitting to their relationship. Too much of superstition!
