Why watch Kyunki saas bhi kabhi bahu thi?

Hello everyone!

I am a University Student analysing the relationship between Asian Soap Operas and Asian audiences. As part of my research, I would like to ask you all the following question;

Question: Do you feel that you can relate to any of the characters in *Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi?*

If not, Why do you watch this serial?

The serial has elements of a good natured wife (tulsi) good relations between sisters in law(ganga and damini),respect for elders etc.
thts one part of it.the other part is the masala,the twists (courtesy ansh) sometimes r good to watch.Even though we may not relate to them sometimes...so what??if we expect to see what we experience and reality and all tht stuff...then why bother to watch at all?
Some fantasy part is attached to it.And we see it for all the fantasy,glamour etc.
And lastly..since we are watching it for more than 4 years,it has become like a habit.Also like a part of the family.So though some tracks are not good,we still watch it
And the most important part is...some people like me...need something to discuss at the forum,thts why!! 😉

I think some people may identify with Gautam-the gullible and hot-headed eldest brother of the family who is just out to prove his mettle..other than that, I identify with Mihir for the simple fact because he has all natural shades to him-love,anger,passion..
I watch the show only and only for Ronit Roy..who is my favorite actor:))

I was just very curious as to what university are u attending. I also wanted to know if this study was a part of any course. What is the purpose of this study, as things u did not describe things clearly in the email. What is hypothesis that you have made before conduction of this study?

Dont be offended i was very curious as i have not really seen a research being in this fashion just through groups like these.

I watch Kyunki simply because My favourite Actor, My sweetoo Ronit plays the character of Mihir.
Mihir is one character everyone can identify with, he love for his wife, children, Mom, brothers, Baa, everyone is refelected so naturally, the steps and decisions he takes are sooo human, he is so protective, but always ready to put himself onto Risks.
I think,Ronit has justified the character of Mihir completely, and he is doing a marvellous Job.

basically i am not really with watching serials all the time.
but kyunki is a different case
aal things in the soap cant be said are right and potrays indian culture and all.
but there are certain thinga about kyunki which are really good.
first of all, the power of truth...tulsi-the main character, and the most noticed one..is a person who always supports truth.for the sake of truth, she is ready to kill her own son(tho it was a bit far-fetched 😉 )
THEN, the power of ajoint family...shantiniketan has remained one forever..and faced all toofans together.
then, there are certain gripping characters like karan ,tulsi who are very good and are real role models

but there are bad parts of kyunki too.
but something abt it grips the viewers and compels them to continue watching it

because its addictive....!
i dont know wht makes me watch Kyunki.....i mainly watch it coz of Smriti....but there is something special about it.....wen kyunki started i was only 8 yrs old but once i saw my nani watch it n watched along.....at tht time mihirs death plot thingi was going on......frm the day i saw kyunki....i loved it...n i especially like Smriti.......n now after 5 years of watching it, im completely additckeD!.......there is this emotional bond i share wid Kyunki......i hope it never ends....dono wht ill do at 10-00 in the nite if it does 😭
