TV's favourite bahu is also the coolest mom around. "For a long time, my kids didn't know that I was an actress. It was only recently that their classmates told them I am on TV.

But what has really soared my coolness quotient amongst them is the fact that I was once face-to-face with Shah Rukh Khan," Smriti Iraani says with a hearty laughter.

Outside her home also, Smriti's standing is soaring rapidly. The lady, after venturing into TV production, is now getting set to dabble in film production. "It is going to be a different kind of comedy and I may or may not act in it," reveals Smriti.

Comedy... after all the rona-dhona that she has done for Ekta Kapoor's production house, before they finally parted ways?

She laughs and changes tracks, "I still don't know why I was shown the door. The split with Ekta happened when I was branching out. I was told that I had to pay this price and I readily paid it. I was not shocked; I saw it as a natural progression.

But I gave seven years to Kyunki... and it was the right time to move on," she says. Smriti still gets referred to as Tulsi and many people feel that she will be back in the show soon. "Yes, people still come to me and ask when I will return. In a way, it feels good that I have left such a deep impression on people's minds. I just smile and don't say anything to them as that would break their hearts."

Did her relationship with Ekta survive this rift? "I have always shared a very different relationship with Ekta. She has always given me a good hearing when I wanted to talk and I have done the same.

She has given me some genuine advice. At the same time, she knew that I would never cross the line of an employee and employer. I don't take public displays of affection too seriously. For me, those people are more important who have stood by me in my difficult days."
