Amarr is not coming back in 'Kyunkii Saas …': Ekta

There's a strong rumour doing the rounds that Amarr Upadhyay is all set to return to the role that made him a household figure. Is Amarr Upadhyay returning to play Mihir or any other character in Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi? "This is what I read. According to reports, he'll be playing Tulsi's grandson named Mayank in the soap. Sounds like wishful thinking," laughs the tv tycoon Ekta Kapoor.
"I'm sorry to say this, but it isn't true at at all. Amarr won't be any part of Kyunki Saas….. Nor have I any intention of replacing Ronit Roy in Mihir's role. Ronit isn't going anywhere. And we aren't looking for anyone else," chuckles producer Ekta Kapoor, riding high with the new success of Sony's Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and now the Amrita Singh vehicle Kavyanjali on Star Plus. Confesses Ekta, "I admit, Kavyanjali started tamely. But after the change in the script whereby Amrita Singh's character acquired negative traits, the soap has taken off. It now gets a 12 in the TRPs. That's quite neat." Ekta had vowed not to touch her new car until Kavyanjali took off. "I won't enjoy my luxuries if my work doesn't pay off. I had put the car in the garage untouched. It was taken out the day the Kavyanjali TRPs swung upwards." Amarr Upadhyay was likewise put out of sight after he stormed out to be a cine star. Smiles Ekta, "He's back with us. And hehas important roles in two of our serials Kkusum and Kasauti Zindagi Kay. But sorry, no Mihir." Amarr refutes the interview whereby he was quoted as saying he was coming back to play Mihir. "I am not playing Mihir. Actually a journalist misquoted me and had later cleared the misunderstanding." Without explaining how he could be misquoted in a matter as simple as this, Amarr continues to say he hasn't given up on a filmcareer. "I've never believed in giving up. I've received several film offers. But I don't want to repeat the same mistakes. I'm negotiatingfor better projects with better directors. I've my fingers crossed." Just how Amarr intends to regain lost ground in cinema after returning to television, is one that could boggle Sherlock Holmes'mind. Even more boggling is 'Mihir' Ronit Roy's is-he-on-or-off status vis a vis the two rival soaps Kasauti Zindagi Kay and Sarkar on Star and Zee, respectively.

Apparently, the see-saw has ended. According to a reliable source Roy has decided to stay on in Ekta Kapoor's serial and leaveSarrkar.
