'Tun Tun' is a fairly well recognised actress of the yesteryears hindi movies. Now if one character is being compared to another, you consider that insulting. How so? Its one thing to say Tanya is fat and ugly and something else compare Tanya to 'Tun Tun'. How do you know that people are alluding to Tun Tun's big body and not her funny screen presence when they compare Tanya to her? By suggesting that calling Tanya Tun Tun is derogatory aren't you insulting Tun Tun? Why this policing and micro management? I am with you when you say no person should be criticised on corporal basis but if Tanya is not to be criticised then on the same basis Tun Tun too should not be criticised. Well I am not trying to be difficult, but merely observing 😊 May be even just making minor insinuation for moderators to be politically correct when addressing such issues. Having said that I agree that maligning someone based on their physical attributes amounts to bigotry and must be contained at any cost!

ok after reading this post i couldn't stop myself from expressing my own opinion. My take on this issue is fairly neutral.

i think i somewhat agree with what the original poster was trying to say. Passing comments about the way people look isn't really nice and just like you are taught to respect people for who they are, celebrities should be respected too, especially when it comes to their physical attributes.

But now i see another problem. If it is wrong to pass rude comments about someone's appearance, specifically pointing out a so called "flaw", then it is also wrong to compare actors/actresses based on their looks. I mean quite often we get to see polls about "who do you think out of the following is the prettiest/hottest?" I consider it fairly degrading for an artist when another actor/actress gets more votes in their comparison. So if the whole idea that passing comments based on a person's physical features is incorrect, why weren't people stopped from posting such polls in the first place?

Secondly, if someone is an actor or an actress, people will talk about them, whether its the quality of acting, the role portrayed, appearance/looks, and what they do in their personal lives because at this point, we all have beliefs about what a celebrity should be like.

I'm sorry if anyone was offended by my post, but i'm just trying to express myself. I personally don't think that any side is completely right or wrong in this case.

I really really liked the point you picked up (black/bolded). I think I agree w/ you at that matter, but then again I think it's fine..cause the poster has no wrong intentions unless they post a negative remark. I think those polls should be kept as long as people don't post negative comments..if they post positive remarks, I don't find anything wrong w/ that.😛

Also I liked the other point too. (red/bolded) Even if they actor is talked about, is it really nice to talk about someone's appearance? Now let's say Ganga was a negative character and almost everyone didn't like her (like everyone disliked Meera because of her low deeds in the show) then, don't you think that people will start making rude comments about her? Or another example..like some people are making fun of Tanya, what if a 3rd person came into Lakshya and Kt's life? We know there are a lot of LKT fans out there..and if another girl comes into their life..they're definately not gonna like it. But wouldn't be nice for them to pass rude comments against that person.[[Please, not targeted to GHT Fans]]

All we're asking for is to stop the name calling and for everyone to have a fun, healthy discussion.😊

Fascinating observation. You are implying that its equally derogatory to TunTun to be compared to Tanya! Very well stated post, a tinge of humor and never brought up opinion. 😊

I agree. Minni you have made such indisputable remarks here being on a unbiased and neutral ground. No one is perfect including the mods, the only thing is we need lot more professionalism and understanding from both parts: members, and the dev team. Not that I am disparaging any group here in this comment, let it be members or dev team, I do totally agree with you and stud that it is extremely hard for any one to stand their grounds based upon an isolated opinion as there can be many sides of a conversation or comments unless they are direct. 😊 😊 As some one said calling sumone "tun tun" can be meant funny metaphorically not fat. We all just need to have an open mind. 😊
