Real-life couple Gautami Gadgil and Ram Kapoor's on-screen chemistry in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has not gone down well with the viewers.
Gautami Gadgil Kapoor has been reasonably well accepted as Tulsi by the Indian audiences after Smriti Irani's exit from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi.
But, much needs to be done to amp up the chemistry between real-life couple Gautami and Ram Kapoor aka JR Thakral. Apparently, the show's TRPs have been dipping ever since Thakral came into the picture as Tulsi's ex-lover.
The key reason for the dipping TRPs seems to be the unacceptable fact that an iconic character like Tulsi has an ex-lover.
Says a source, "The new Tulsi's character has not been established in the show as yet. The audience cannot accept that the holier-than-thou Tulsi has a love interest besides her husband Mihir.
Ram was introduced in the show to spice up the track. But, the plan seems to have backfired. Too much has happened in the new Tulsi's life, too soon. It's not that Tulsi hasn't been accepted, but the storyline has to be developed in a better and more convincing way. The show's TRPs has come down to 4 due to this recent storyline," adds the source.
However, Doyal Som, creative head of the show, says, "We will have to wait and watch the response when Tulsi and Thakral are shown as a couple in the show. Ram and Gautami have been liked immensely in Ghar Ek Sapna, so they may be liked here too."
Commenting on the dipping TRPs, Som says, "Initially, the track wasn't focussed entirely on them. They came face-to-face in the show only recently. We cannot specifically say that the TRPs have gone down due to one particular reason. The TRPs keep fluctuating. Also, there is a lot of competition because of the new channels and shows. I think the track is warming up and viewers' response will follow soon."
