Juhi could have played Tulsi
Apparently, the actor's name was strongly considered to play the iconic bahu in 'Kyunkii…'
It's no longer news that actor Gautami Kapoor Gadgil has replaced Smriti Z Iraani as Tulsi in 'Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' (Star Plus). It's also well-known that she wasn't the only one considered by Balaji Telefilms for the role—actors Poonam Dhillon and Padmini Kolhapure were also hot contenders to play the larger-than-life character.
However, production personnel in Balaji Telefilms revealed another name, which was also in the reckoning—that of actor Juhi Chawla. Apparently, Juhi was being considered for playing Tulsi as well. However Juhi's secretary KS Sanjay denies that they were approached by soap queen Ektaa Kapoor's office with an offer. He says, "I think it would be better if you ask Ektaa. She is the only person who can speak on this."
But our source in Balaji maintains that the name did crop up. "Juhi's is the right kind of face for the role. She is well-known too. Her name came up even before Padmini's name was mentioned," insists the source.
Interestingly, Juhi had appeared as Tulsi for a snack commercial not long ago. The campaign had her addressing people as their favorite bahu and was well-received.
