Playing Bhoomi Virani completely changed the fortunes for sultry beauty Reshmi Ghosh. The 2002 Ms India runners-up-turned-actress struggled to find her foot in Bollywood for years until this character gave the Kolkata lass the recognition she was craving for long. Bhoomi's character has grown by leaps and bounds in recent times and has made people sit up and notice.
"Initially I was quite apprehensive about playing this character, as it is pretty complicated. Bhoomi cannot be defined simply as positive or negative. She has got bits of everything. I am considered to be the only one in the show who is able to confront Tulsi. Smriti Irani is the life-blood of the show and this one is the biggest compliment that I could have ever had. Obviously it's a nice feeling, but I have learnt that one should always remain grounded to do even better," says Reshmi candidly.
The feedback of her performance has been quite satisfying too. "In the beginning people watching the show came up and told me how disappointed they were about the cute child Bhoomi growing up to be such a brat. But now, I mostly get mixed reactions. The scene where I go and question my mom Nandini has been talked about quite a bit. All kinds of reactions about my makeup or my performance are most welcome. I am very open-minded because reactions help me to know when and where I am going wrong," comments Reshmi.
All these not withstanding, many are of the opinion that Reshmi might also end up as the female Ansh. What does she have to say about such speculations? "Without revealing too much of the story, I can just say that there is a lot of scope for growth in the character. There are lots of surprises in store," she retorts.
Reshmi is the only actress from the younger generation of 'Kyunki', who gets to be so rude and abuse almost all the senior actors. Is she being teased for the same? "It's I who keep apologising after finishing every scene. They know Reshmi very well and are aware that she is not at all like Bhoomi. In fact they have come up and discussed the differences in my off screen and on screen personas," the lady clarifies.
Reshmi's family in Kolkata is obviously very proud. "They are very happy and give me the advice and support that I need. I miss them, but one great thing is that my grand mom is here. So, I don't really feel lonely. I always wait to welcome my friends and dear ones to my home," she asserts.
And what's more is that she has her fianc Amit for support. "It was a long distance relationship in the past, but not anymore. He has now moved to Mumbai. Since he is also into acting and has done theatre, his advice for me is very valuable". Marriage is, however, not yet in Reshmi's mind. "I haven't thought about it right away. But I believe in marriage and feel it's very important. I will let the whole world know when I take the plunge," beams the actress.
Life is surely looking rosy for Reshmi now and looks like the actress is making sure that it remains that way for the times to come.
