Part 5:
It had been at least three weeks now since Joydeep had lost his marbles the first time on finally getting a reaction out of Bhoomi. And over the course of these three weeks Joydeep had continued to loose his marbles again & again. As a result, Bhoomi & Joydeep were now good friends. While Bhoomi was still very much hesitant to take their relationship further, and as always, Joydeep waited with patience, it was the elders that, despite being elated at Bhoomi & Joydeep's friendship, seemed in a rush to expedite the relationship. Manthan had by now called a truce with Joydeep and had also become good friends with him. Surprisingly, it was Manthan that initiated this friendship, much to Joydeep's shock & to the amusement of the rest of the family. Manthan had felt a change in himself for quite some time now but these days he didn't know what had come over him. This change became more apparent after a very significant incident.
The day had begun on a good note, with the family witnessing Bhoomi & Joydeep fighting over who would do the flower & light decorations in the garden for the Lohri party being held that night. Joydeep didn't want Bhoomi to do it as he didn't want her to over exhaust herself till the party because if she became tired by the time of the party then he would loose his chance to dance with her. They had not had an opportunity to dance together since they had become friends and he knew he would like nothing better than to dance with her all night long. And Bhoomi didn't want Joydeep to do it because he had been involved in almost all the preparations that had been going on for about a week now. The argument had started during breakfast and apart from the arguing couple, the rest of the family looked on fondly at the two. Finally the family couldn't take it anymore and the elders assigned both to the task. While Bhoomi was tempted to retaliate, Joydeep, being the more sensible & respectful of the two, agreed to the elders' decision without a thought.
Joydeep ended up having to go out to the market to get more flowers & lights, thanks to Bhoomi's elaborate & larger than life designs. But Joydeep wasn't complaining. He had enjoyed every minute of it because Bhoomi was with him and even though Bhoomi didn't want to admit it, even she was happy with working along with Joydeep. Bhoomi had insisted on coming with Joydeep but Joydeep had refused her saying, "You rest till I get back and then we can finish this. I don't want you to be tired tonight because we're all going to have so much fun!" Bhoomi being stubborn and still not convinced that Joydeep would actually be able to find what she wanted decided to follow him. Joydeep had to look around a little before coming across what Bhoomi had wanted. He was happy that he had found what he was supposed to bring but more than that he was excited about not letting Bhoomi down. Bhoomi had been following him at a safe distance and now was parked two cars behind his and had a clear view of the shop. She was surprised that Joydeep had infact understood what she had wanted and had not given up till he found it. She smiled to herself and was about to head home before he caught her here that she noticed a car pull up to the shop.
She recognized it immediately as Abhir's. Fear flashed across her face and she froze. She saw him get out of his car & make his way to Joydeep who was busy putting all the shopping in the trunk and as he closed the trunk & turned around, he ran into Abhir. Joydeep was surprised at first and then immediately tried to step away from him but Abhir caught a hold of his arm and said something to him. Bhoomi couldn't hear anything and she knew that if she got out then Abhir would surely try to go after her and that could put both her & Joydeep's life in danger. Maybe Abhir's just here to scare off Joydeep but she was wrong. She saw Joydeep hold his ground without a trace of fear. This obviously seemed to anger Abhir & he in a fit of rage started dragging Joydeep to the nearside beach. Bhoomi panicked & got out the car & started following them. She dialed Manthan's cell on her way as she knew that Joydeep alone would not be able to handle Abhir. And if she tried to intervene then he might loose it completely and god knows what he'll do then. Manthan didn't pick up the 3 times that she tried calling him. She cursed her fate and decided that she would have to do something. But she decided to call Manthan one last time and this time he picked up.
