A few weeks back, Riva Bubber had a unique experience on a trip to London. Bubber befriended a flamboyant Britisher named James, who turned out to be gay. The actress says he would break into a song every time he saw her. "I had a great time with him. He is one of the most fun-loving people I've met in recent times." Each time he would see Riva, James would break into a mock version of Elvis Presley's classic song Viva Las Vegas. "He was really witty and full of zest. Whenever I met him, he would open his arms and make up a song called 'Riva Las Vegas'! I got so used to the tune that even after I came back it was stuck in my head." No bias On a more serious note, the actress says she has many gay friends and says they are very chilled-out people. "I don't believe in discriminating any one on the basis of their sexual preference. Be it gay or lesbian, everyone is human so why point fingers at anyone and ridicule them?" Believing in the 'to each his own' attitude, Riva says, "I make friends because they are good people, irrespective of their sexual interests. I find it wrong when people judge you for what you are." Festive time Admitting that she enjoys the company of gay men, Riva says, "They are so much fun to hang out with, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy hanging out with straight men!" Talking about spending time with James, she says, "He is an all-rounder and loves exploring different jobs. He is witty, has a terrific sense of humour and made me laugh all the time." On the personal front, Riva is currently hunting for a mate, not for herself, but for her 15-month-old cocker spaniel Bijou. "I call her Bijou which means jewel in French. She's a darling and I am looking for a partner for her." Since it's the time of festivals, Riva is in the mood to celebrate. "I love Christmas. I will probably go buy something fun and get into the festive mood. As for New Year's, I have no idea what I will be doing yet!" |
