Gauri Pradhan
TV actor
Height: 5 feet 8 1/2 inches
Weight: 58 kg
Breakfast: An omelette made from 3-4 egg whites or porridge or idli/dosa. I also have a glass of milk every morning.
Lunch: Since my breakfast is pretty heavy, I go light on lunch. I have one chapatti (two if I'm feeling hungry) with dal/sabzi or chicken. I'm careful not to mix two proteins together.
Mid meals: My dinner is at seven, so I'm not much of a mid-meal snacker. However, if I'm hungry, I snack on idlis or elaichi banana (that's the only fruit I like).
Dinner: Early dinner comprises of chicken or fish or dal/sabzi. As I said earlier, I don't mix proteins. I love rice, but avoid it. If I'm craving for rice, I ask my maid to cook some brown rice. I generally have a vegetable soup at around 9.30-10 pm since dinner is at 7 pm.
Exercise: I don't have much time because I'm busy shooting, so I try and go to the gym four times a week and have a personal trainer. I concentrate on different body parts, but love to work out my abs. In case I miss going to the gym, I run on my treadmill at home for around 20 minutes. Since my personal trainer is out of town, I've started playing squash at my building club house.
Nutritionist Naini Setalvad recommends…
Breakfast: It will be ideal if she combines proteins and carbohydrates together. So, only an omelette is not a good idea. The best choice would be:
Oat porridge + milk
Egg white omelette +2 whole wheat bread (with vegetables in it)
Dosa + sambhar + vegetables
She should have skimmed milk without sugar.
Lunch: It should always comprise of salads and vegetables. Accompany it with dal or chicken.
Mid meals: It's best to have fruits even if it is only bananas. Fruits are packed with vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants which are very important for the body.
Dinner: It is best to start dinner with soup at 7 pm followed with vegetables, chicken/fish. There is no need to avoid rice - she can have brown rice as its low in the glycemic index and rich in fibre and also has more protein than white rice. The most important nutrient of all is water, so drink plenty of it!
Exercise: Since Gauri has a busy schedule, it is advisable that she add yoga to her exercise regime as yoga helps one to de-stress as well as energise oneself.
