Kyunkii it's Gen X | ||

The big joint family has become bigger, and no Baa has not passed into oblivion. She is 104 and still rocking!
The focus though has now shifted to the new actors who play the next generation in the all-new Virani household. Most have begun their careers with Balaji soap, are all praise for the coveted production house. Says Naman Shaw who is also doing Kasamh Se with Balaji and now plays Nakul in Kyunkii... is very excited about his new role. "I think Kyunkii... is the number one show right now. I'm playing Nakul who is a simple guy but has shades of black at the same time. I'm thankful to Balaji for giving me this role and also feel that we are the future of the show and the popularity depends on us now."
His on-screen brothers and sisters are equally confident of delivering. Former Miss India Reshmi Ghosh, who unlike her predecessors feels she is more than lucky to have bagged the role of Bhoomi. "I feel TV is the best medium to settle. I have to work a lot on my character as it is different from what I am in real life. Bhoomi is full of attitude, is headstrong and blunt", says the dusky, do-eyed beauty. Justifying her image, she joins in the gathering at the end as she is known to take the maximum time to get ready. But the most spoilt one of the lot is her on-screen brother Manthan. Played by Amit Tandon, who was last seen in Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai and was a finalist at Indian Idol I, he surely has an Ansh of his uncles. "I'm excited and anxious at the same time but I will try my level best to play Manthan who is very close to reality. He is fresh, modern, arrogant and confident. He believes in making his own rules," says Tandon.
Though Gen X is all set to step in the shoes of its elders, one thing that is surprising is the age factor of the characters to which even the actors don't have an answer. Sudha Shivpuri aka Ba, who is the eldest in the family and will now cross the 100-year mark does not know if her character will continue. "It all depends on the producers of the show. If they feel that Baa should continue to live, I will continue playing the character, else I shall quit," Says Shivpuri.
Whatever be the fate of the elders in the Virani family, the new generation is all set to carry forward the legacy. |
