CHAPTER 2
"Someone akin"
After living few days alone in the cell, He was shifted to the dormitory where the other prisoners lived. At a corner of the dormitory, were those, whom once he used to call his best friends. He was in no mood to be at loggerheads with them right now. He just paid no heed to them. He was not new here, and almost knew everyone there, but someone, who just sat leaning his head back to the wall on the bed beside him, lifelessly. Abeer smiled a bit looking at him, expecting him to smile back, but he was just lost. He looked to have not even had completed a twenty years of his age. He was young, too young. Even the moustache on his face wasn't completely grown. Abeer wondered that, then, what might have made him come here. He called him up, when the teenager turned his eyes towards him. "He can't be a criminal," Abeer thought, as soon as he saw those innocent eyes, which showed a pain akin to his.
Abeer raised his hand and ruffled the boy's hair. Something pricked him within. He found his own eyes getting wet. The boy felt familiar to him. "What made you come here, brother? What did you do?" Abeer asked in a chivalric manner just to cheer up the depressed boy. He noticed the boy go pale as soon as he asked this. It was as if the blood had soaked out of him completely. He saw his hands quiver. He was having a panic attack, maybe. Abeer tried consoling him, but his eyes had started leaving out the color. His face was turning blue. Abeer panicked and rubbed his palms, they were dead cold. The boy, out of nowhere, started shouting, "I murdered them, and I murdered all of them!" All the prisoners went jumping to them on seeing the seriousness of the situation. Evaan and Suveer, who behaved ignorant hitherto, came back to life and ran towards Abeer.
"What happened, Abeer?" asked Evaan, just to get a deadly, grave, expression from Abeer. One of the prisoners had called the prison constable, and had told him about the boy. The boy was taken to the medical room for an examination. Everyone returned to their bunks, and here, Abeer sat down in an utter shock. The boy was definitely not alright. It pained Abeer to see the little one suffer so much. The question that why he was here, pestered him constantly.
His hunger had died completely. But all of them were called upon for their lunch. Abeer joined the line, which lead him towards the mess, which stunk of some strong spices and oils. He felt his stomach churn out. He felt it suffocating there and moved out into the playground for a while. He felt relieved as cool air gushed across his face, remembering him of some of the best moments of his life. He smiled helplessly.
"Do you want me to tell you why I came here?" came a voice, startling Abeer. He turned around to find the same boy sitting against the wall beside him. "Are you fine?" asked Abeer out of a stupor. The boy was completely fine now. There was no trace of him being unwell. "Why would you want to tell me your story?" Abeer asked. "Because you are the only one after my parents who ruffled my hair like that, I felt close to you," replied the boy, which brought upon a slight smile upon Abeer's face. The innocence in his words made Abeer ruffle the boy's hair again. "Can I call you bhaiyya?" The boy asked. The boy calling him that, remembered him, of his sister. His eyes filled up with tears. The boy noticed this, and said, "I won't, if you don't want me to!" Abeer chuckled as he wiped up his tears. "You definitely can, brother! Won't you tell me your story?" Abeer asked. The boy nodded up his head.
"They were four of them," The boy started. Abeer was curious, but still he maintained his calmness. "My sister of fifteen, four years younger to me...She was my responsibility after my parents died," He said as he tried to control the wrinkles forming upon his young skinned face. Abeer's face was slowly turning expressionless, as he tried to understand what the little boy in front of him was trying to say. "I managed my studies and work together, I had to work as there was no one to earn for us, I could sometimes, find no time to talk to her," The boy said. Abeer could understand his struggles. "We lived at the place I worked in, I was a driver. I worked for that crooked MLA." Tears dropped down the boy's cheeks as he said this. Abeer calmly listened, just listened. Something was churning up his stomach, and this was definitely not the smell this time.
"His son and his son's friends took an advantage of me not being at home with my sister. They were all drugged, I heard. They raped and then killed my sister. I came back to her dead body. I couldn't save her, nor could I hear her voice one last time," The same paleness spread across the boy's face, and then Abeer's face as he finished why he committed the crimes. "THEY WERE BLOODY MONSTERS! THEY DIDN'T EVEN DESERVE A DEATH, THEY DESERVED A WORSER PUNISHMENT, BUT I JUST KILLED THEM THAT MOMENT, I CAME TO KNOW OF THEIR CRIME! I AM GUILTY FOR FIVE MURDERS, BUT I AM NOT GUILTY AT ALL!!" the boy shouted his lungs out. That was the moment for Abeer to burst out. He couldn't control himself and just vomited out his pain, guilt. Evaan and Suveer came running to him seeing his odd behavior. Abeer's blood boiled as he saw those faces again, he covered his ears and shouted, "LEAVE ME, YOU DIRTY PIGS! JUST LEAVE ME! TAKE YOUR DIRT OFF ME!" Evaan tried to catch hold of him, but he had gotten out of control. He behaved insane. He shouted, and pushed them aside. This was new. The boy was surprised of his behavior. The prison officers came running to catch hold of him, but he behaved oddly odd.
The boy called him out, "Bhaiyya!" That was enough for Abeer to breakdown. He fell on his knees, and kept saying, "I didn't do anything, Amala, I didn't do anything! I can't be a bloody rapist, I can't be! I didn't commit any crime, I am innocent," The boy kept looking at him to his utter surprise. He just heard the word "Rapist" again and that too from the mouth of a person, whom he just addressed as "bhaiyya". Abeer was ignorant of the fact that he was being heard, by the boy, by the prison officers, by his fellow prison mates, but no one believed him. They thought that he was trying to back off, he was being a coward. No one knew the truth, but they just felt it right to mock him then.
This incident silenced Abeer for the next few days. He denied meeting Omkar, his lawyer. He didn't talk to anyone for days, and not even the boy. The days were silenced, and the nights were even more darkened. A day came, when the boy walked up to him, and said, "I trust you! I know you didn't do anything, I know you love Amala didi," Abeer, who was lying on his bed, sat up on the mention of Amala's name. "How do you know her?" Abeer asked. "I read about you both in the newspaper. I was always doubtful about you having committed the crime since the very first time I saw you here, and that afternoon, you confirmed, that you are innocent," The little boy of nineteen said. Abeer looked at him; he had no answers he could give him. "Won't you tell me your story?" The boy asked. Abeer nodded.

P.S. I won't send anyone the PMs who isn't in my buddy list. It needs a lot of effort to copy-paste each and every name out, and I am too lazy too do that. :)>
