I think it's sad that you all feel this way. I have explained the routine before. It was a miss on our part that we missed mentioning that only the 10 best banners would be chosen.
What are best or what arn't many times vary from person to person. The problem is that we can debate on that whole day. All the banners in my eyes are beautiful, and if I had my way I would have all of them up. But that cannot be done, can it? In fact even the choice of which is the best banner out of these 10 has been different. I think banners 1 and 5 are the best, yet not everyone thinks so. For me, Banner 1 scores more because it's more artistically presented. So in the long run, whichever banner comes first might not mean that it is the best, just that it got the max votes because it appealed to most for whatever reasons. We have seen all the banners, and all of them were chosen carefully, keeping in mind certain guidelines that we have followed in every section and dev team's decision has always been deemed as final. Again, I am sorry that was missed in the announcement.
But yes, again, our choices could be different. But would it really be so different? This is not the first banner contest, and this won't be the last. It might be the first in this section, but it's certainely not the last. Banner contest also happens to be a way to promote the show to other members. And does any of you really think we would choose bad ones? In fact two banners I liked more didn't make the cut either,just because they were basically the same banner with different colours. Because when you sit down to give points, you find they are coming short somewhere.
Nausheenghtfan,I don't want to hurt you or sound bad, but what makes you think that your banners were better than the ones which have been posted ? In your eyes, they might be,beacuuse you laboured hard at creating them but at the time we were selecting, we were not looking at the names of who posted them, but which banners suited the bill.As far as we were concerend, everyone worked equally hard. The choice was already difficult, and few banners missed the cut by a mere .5 points !!!! You weren't the only one whose banner missed it. Some of them didn't make it because they were larger than the dimension mentioned, many of them were just the same banners in different colours,so we chose which we thought looked best, some didn't look striking enough, some were low on clarity........
Posting all the 30+ banners only compounds the confusion. Not everyone who votes, especially those from other sections, want to go over pages of images (as it is they take ages to upload,especially on dial up connections )and vote. They want the dev team to chose what we think are the best and upload,so that they can easily vote. Had there been 15-20 banners, we might have posted all of them; But 30 odd banners are too many.
Also, if all of you want this contest all over again, please do tell. I am sure we will have quite a few changes in the story, and new frames will come up. So we can have the banners again after a while.
We did our best, and I am sorry if our best was not good enough for all of you. I on behalf of KHNK dev team apologise for that. We will try harder next time and try to make all of you happy.
