Chapter 3: I'll Stay In Your RoomWhen Preeta came out, dressed in a loose kurti and comfortable leggings, she saw Karan gobbling the pizza.
"That was my Pizza!" Preeta quickly ran towards him, opened the box and found it empty.
"Haww! You ate all of it? All by yourself? Kitne bure ho tum Karan."
Karan only shrugged, munching on the pizza.
She gave him one last upset look before hunting for her phone and calling up the pizzeria again.
Before her call could even get through, she saw the other five pizza slices, in tact, on a plate, in front of her.
She looked at Karan in surprise who just shook his head, as if he were disappointed.
"This woman doesn't even trust me. How will we spend our whole lives together?"
Preeta looked at him apologetically before his words registered. "What?"
Karan seemed to think for a moment before grinning. Preeta so wanted to wipe that I-know-everything grin off his face.
"This reminds me.." Preeta snatched the plate from him, "... You have a lot of explaining to do."
-
"So, you are telling me, that your family went to my family, with our marriage proposal?"
"Exactly."
"You told them, we fight a lot and so they suggested we first spend two months together?"
"Yes."
"I don't believe this!" Preeta narrowed her eyes at him.
"Kyu yaar?"
"Everyone knows my mom is a chalti-firti definition of a typical, overly worrying Indian Mom that, for everyone else, only exists in TV soaps. She agreeing, to a guy staying with me, for two months, without 'ADULT' supervision. Karan, please find a better story."
"Main kya tumhe story teller lagta hun? Ek dum sach keh raha hun. Call Shrishti and ask."
"I won't trust her either."
"Not my fault you have trust issues."
Preeta was quite for a few seconds.
"Accha theek hai, take the other room." Preeta smiled softly. "If you haven't already." She added when she didn't see his luggage anywhere.
"I did that, but don't you think that room is too small?"
"Karan, I had absolutely no idea I will be having you over someday when I was buying the flat. I apologise for the inconveniences caused. You can definitely move out if you want." Preeta started sweetly and ended with a glare.
Karan only smiled. His Dumbo hadn't changed one bit.
"Then I'll stay in your room." He shrugged as he got up from the couch.
"Excuse me?!" Preeta looked at him, wide-eyed.
He looked at her for a few seconds and then smirked. "Baby Doll, what I meant was that you and I swap the rooms. Tumhara dimaag toh alag hi track pe chalta hai."
Preeta vehemently nodded her head negatively. "Aisa kuch nahi hai." Lie. "What I meant was, I love my room and I am not swapping it with you at any cost. Mujhe apne jaisa mat samjho."
"Ab apne hone wale pati ke liye itna sa nahi karogi?"
Preeta was stunned. How was he so sure they'll marry? To Preeta, it was evident that they won't be able to work it out, given they continuously argued and she was probably no match for him.
"Karan, please. Both of us know this is going to end with us not getting married. Let's not talk about it." And don't give time for me to hope, again.
Karan looked visibly hurt but he smiled. "You never know, Baby Doll."
Saying so, he walked to the smaller room, not wanting to argue any further. Yeh Miss Mental ko patana bada bhaari kaam lag raha hai.

Okay, first of all, I am really sorry for the delay in updating. Kal exam deke I was super tensed and then I slept off through the day. Then, sorry for the short update but I just wanted Preeta being introduced to this 'arrangement' of theirs. As for the next update, it probably comes to you on 19th or 20th (no promises as I have another writing commitment that has a deadline 😆)
Cheers,
Krishi :)
P.S. Let me know if there is a particular something you'd like me to write. I only have a basic plotline and a dozen scenarios. Any input is welcome :)
P.P.S Let's jsut blame it on Mana😆 It's her birthday today and in her last cokment she suggested how the next uodate is sort of her birthday gift. Isliye I waited till today ;) [Mana, sorry for a chotu so gift though ;P]
