Plotting sautans, bejewelled mothers, hapless husbands and aggressive wives — they all got together to celebrate the success of doing all that and lots more on our very own tube. Yeah, all the telly stars from daily soaps were readily there — dressed in formals, saris, gowns and suits to bag their honours and party their heart out post the gala show.
With crowds cheering them on amidst all the arc lights, the smallscreen stars merrily walked the red carpet. And while they may be staunch enemies onscreen, off it there was mingling and inter-mingling galore. The saas-bahus exchanged pleasantries, co-actors pulled unexpected fast ones on their colleagues and everyone bonded big time.
Telly's hot attraction Ronit Roy was heard talking about his favourite onscreen saasbahus while Ali Asgar got a bit sentimental as he remembered how his mother's peptalk had helped him sail through his struggling years. "Hard work does pay off," he smiled. Kanwaljeet greeted Rita Bhaduri with a warm embrace, after which he caught up with Neena Gupta. Varun Badola got a bit daring in a red-and-black striped suit as did Urvashi Dholakia in a bareit-all sari blouse. Gaurav Chopraa's snazzy blue sunshades and Akashh Deep Saigal's funky cap and denim jacket added to the funk quotient. Riva Bubber, Rakshanda Khan, Gouri and Yash Tonk and Hiten Tejwani and Gauri Pradhan were among the many others present. Once the buffet was laid out, all eyes and appetites were centred there, with food being topmost on everybody's mind. "I'm so hungry, I can't think of anything else right now!" Juhi Parmar was overheard saying.
WEDDING BELLE
Having won an award for the role of an ideal wife, Juhi Parmar sounded a bit nervous. No, not because she had to say her 'thank-you' speech, but because she was getting the reel-to-real life jitters. "Having won this award, now there is an additional burden on me to become an ideal wife even in real life. Whenever I get married that is," she was quick to add.
