TAKES TWO TO TANGO
The TRPs for Kumkum - Pyara Sa Bandhan (Star Plus) are going through
the roof. Not that the ratings have been anything other than
excellent but last week, for the first time, the serial catapulted
into the Top Ten programmes on Star Plus just behind the big three,
Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Kasautii
Zindagii Kay.
An afternoon soap thrashing primetime biggies like Des
Mein Niklla Hoga Chand, Kehta Hai Dil, Saara Akaash and a host of
other shows was unheard of until Kumkum came along. All credit to
producer Anurradha Prasad and director Ashish Patil who have steered
the soap to unprecedented success.
Ashish Patil has a fine flair for drama and knows how to keep viewers hooked.
He is equally adept at portraying romance and Kumkum has had
some of the best romantic scenes – sometimes intense and sensuous,
sometimes cute and playful - ever seen on television.
Juhi Parmar and Hussain Kuwajerwala, the
lead pair, share amazing chemistry and this was in evidence in
abundance last week when they took to the dance floor in a
strikingly choreographed number that captivated all Kumkum fans.
Lost in each other, they swirled and swayed, supremely unaware of
onlookers and the rest of the world.
