Hey Mits, Huts, thanks for your responses, I'm glad you feel you can understand her a little better Huts👍🏼
This is my response to my own question I guess 😳LONGGG ANSWER, caution has been given!
Yes she is selfless. Yes she is naive. Yes she easily forgives and puts others before her. Yes what she strives for doesn't always get accomplished.
But I like that she tries. Here is a girl that just wanted a normal married life with her husband out there, with no romantic fairy-tale-like expectations. Just a guy who was faithful to her and had a practical outlook to life. Which she thought she found in Varun and later in Suresh, but both turned her down for either greed or unreciprocated love. When Rockstar's rishta came around, she was shown to feel apprehensive throughout the process, even rejecting his proposal twice, once to her mom and then to Abhi himself. But due to the stress and pressure placed on her by her ailing mother, she decided to go ahead and give this relationship all she could.
Its weird, she was raised in a household full of women. She doesn't seem to have a father-figure in her house for an extensive period in her life. Yet, A LOT of emphasis is placed on being married in this family. Maybe its because of all the struggles Sarla faced as a single mother? Or RoDaadi seeing this family try to meet ends without her son being there for them? But yeah, until this recent track, they've placed GREAT emphasis on Rockstar and Pragya being the perfect bahu/wife to him. Maybe they were so focused on her not growing up living a lonely life and have Abhi has her companion in this journey called life that they overlooked priorities-like is this marriage really keeping Pragya better off? Initially it wasn't na?
Without talking much about other characters (trying to keep this Pragya-centric), day one, she followed her husband to where he might have left off to and she FOUND him in another woman's house. Would he have told her the truth the next morning had she not questioned him what the heck was going on? Maybe, maybe not. But it was her confrontation the next morning that led to her finding out what this marriage was actually about. And she decided to go home. And when she did, she saw her mom and her family FINALLY happy. Finally stress-free. Finally feeling less burdened about getting her married off. And rather than unleashing herself from this marriage and stressing everyone out again, she decided to battle it out and pretend she's okay.
And then we know everything that happens afterwards. Sure, she didn't tell Abhi about not being the girl that Purab loves. Like he didn't tell the rest of the world that he was faking a happy married life with her. And he didn't want her to tell anyone. He was petrified she'll tell someone.
She's never needed someone to love her to love someone. She has that big heart to look through a person's flaws and still see the goodness seeping through the cracks. She never needed him to tell her he loves her to love him back. She saw that there was humanity in a guy who tries to make life harder, and that was all she needed from him. Which is a stark difference from the Pragya at the start of the show, that wanted a practical life with her husband. I guess with time, her expectations fell and she was happy with whatever she was getting?
When she confessed she loved him, she didn't push him to love her back. Yes, not getting a single response to her confession did put her in a lot of confusion and apprehension about where this relationship was going, but she was very straightforward about not expecting a guaranteed yes from him. And she knew he felt awks about it. She was then told he loves her too TWICE, each time taking his confesion back, second time telling her to leave him alone. And then she found out Tanu's parents were the business partners from Lohri and that Tanu was pregnant. A girl that practically lives in their house 24/7 since the day she was married to Abhi, a girl that is purposely flaunted around in front of Pragya's face-how could Pragya NOT think Tanu was pregnant with Abhi's baby? Yet she still didn't believe it until a few pregnany tests at the clinic.
For the record, he has still never denied he could have been the baby daddy. He denied Tanu could possibly get pregnant. He never doubted she could be pregnant with anyone else. And he never told her he loves her, he told her to leave him alone that very morning, and she did what she was told-she backed off and to make him feel less awkward about her confession, she said it was just a joke (that was a dumb move, but I still understand why she did it).
And then she, with the help of him, tried to keep Tabhi baby a secret for as long as they could. In a phase where Abhi really got to find out how amazing she was and started getting really attached to her. Attached enough to propose to her. And she said no because she didn't want to come in the way of a baby's happiness. And no alternate choices were explained to her by anyone for her to give a second thought to this decision. She wasn't advised what else they could DO instead of breaking up. She wasn't told "Hey, you know what, I've broken up with Tanu, we'll battle for child custody but lets stay together."
