Chapter 1
"Ooty had never been this beautiful", he thought. He was driving to his home enthusiastically. He finally got job as a Manager in a reputed firm. All problems in his life would be solved. He didn't even tell his mom, his only family about getting the job as he wanted to surprise her. He loved his mom more than anything else in the world but he was never good at showing it. He would never pay heed to her words, would get into arguments with her, most of all if she asks him to do something, he would do the exact opposite thing. But that was his way of teasing and irritating his mom. It was time for him to be a responsible son and show his love to his mom. He was imagining how would his mom react if he said that he finally got a job and she need not worry about paying their loans.
He reached his home but found so many people there. He saw his friend Mani among the crowd and decided he was the culprit.
"Hey Mani. I told you not to tell mom. Why did you tell her? You spoiled my surprise and what are all these people doing here? You threw a surprise party for me? But it's not at all surprising you know...", he stopped as he saw his mother inside an ice box.
He tried to wake her up not able to believe she won't able to come back again.
"Is this a prank? It can't be true. Look here..", he took out his mobile phone and showed the text his mother sent him in the morning. "She texted me to come soon just few hours ago."
He sat besides his mom and told her that "I am sorry mom. I didn't listen to your words all these days. But I promise I will listen to you, only to you from hereon. In fact, I already started listening to your words. I got a job. Your son will be a manager in 2 weeks. Please wake up. Don't do this to me. I am not patient like you. I can't bear you not listening to me"
It was difficult to control him and make him come to the cremation ground. He was shouting and crying all the way. But he was completely opposite once they came out of the cremation ground. He didn't cry or shout. No words escaped from his mouth. He started drinking 24/7. He missed his mom scolding him when he came home drunk. Those memories made him drink even more. He went to his mother's room with the appointment letter. He lied on her bed covering himself with her Saree. He crushed his appointment letter and threw it away.

She woke up tired in the hospital bed. Her eyes searched for her baby but there was no cradle around. She was worried whether the baby suffered any problem or was her kid in incubator. As soon as the nurse entered the room, she asked about her baby. The nurse gave her a sympathetic look and went out. Her mom and Rishi came inside.
"Where is my baby? Is my baby healthy? Is it a boy or a girl?"
Her mom pressed her hand tightly. It got her even more tensed and worried. She heard something that she couldn't believe.
"Your son died. He didn't make it alive"
She shouted and screamed that they were lying to her.
Her son's life span was just 9 and a half month. This fact had made her life hell. Since she got pregnant, there wasn't a day without problem. Rishi, her husband was never happy with her not aborting the child. They fought everyday even for silly issues until one day Rishi openly said that his life was becoming miserable because of her. He cited that she wasn't beautiful and classy. That was enough for her. She came to her mother's house though her parents weren't happy with her decision of leaving Rishi. She felt dejected that her own parents didn't like her being with them. The child was her only hope. She thought her kid could make her life heaven and she would finally have someone to love without any fear and be loved. But everything was in vain.
After knowing about her son's fate, she started isolating herself from the world. She stopped talking to any human being. Rishi asked her to forgive him but she didn't have the heart to forget everything. She stayed with her parents but she went home only to sleep and eat. She was roaming around Ooty all day and sometimes night too in spite of her parents worrying for her. They couldn't do anything to make her better.
It was one such day that she was roaming around. The sun had just risen and she found herself in front of a small wooden house. Her sweater was heavy as she had drenched herself in rain the previous night. Her wet red saree made it look like she was covered with blood.
He was drinking when he saw someone standing in front of his home through the glass window. He put his black jacket and went out carrying the bottle of alcohol he was drinking. He saw a lady crying. He remembered what Mani said about her mother's last day. Her mother had received notice from the bank to pay the loan that his father had borrowed in one month or else the bank would take over their house. The news had shook the hell out of her. But it was his fault he shouldn't have lied to her that he was paying the loan interest regularly. It was for this reason his mother had texted him to come soon. It was this shock that gave her heart attack and took his mother away from him.
He went towards her and hugged her. She tried to push him away but his grip was so tight.
"Listen, I don't know you. But I am not going to leave you until you finish crying. I lost my mom but I won't let anyone else lose their mom, daughter, sister or wife in front of my eyes"
She felt better by his words. Even though it was too stupid to let an unknown man, an unknown heavily drunk man to be precise, hug her, she stopped protesting. She put her hands down and continued her cry.
