But how much are others responsible and how much she is responsible?
Pragya is roughly 30 year old woman. She has had double masters degrees and a job! She is from a middle class family living in a metro city. Let's not forget that. All this makes her previlged to know the world better and know her rights better! She is not a uneducated, illiterate fool from a dark corner of the world whom everyone tortures.
I personally detest the portrayal of a woman like that and set her as an example of an ideal daughter in law.
So someone mentioned how every character tortures Pragya. But it's one thing if someone catches you offguard and it's another thing you let things happen around you even when you can stop it.
Maa forced her to marry Abhi. Pragya had it in her mind that Abhi won't be right for her. Yet, she agreed to please Maa. She would have known the marriage won't work give the differences she recognized. When you know that, was she foolish to expect a all happy marriage?
Agreed what Abhi did was cruel! But he did tell her the reason why he did that. Once she knew it, why did she tolerate the marriage without telling him the truth?? Her Maa was fit and fine and supported her whenever Abhi was wrong to her (MMS, TaBhi pregnancy issue etc.). Goes to show Pragya didn't know her mother or had it in her to fight Abhi. So even when Abhi started being nice to her in some ways, even when she realized and fell in love thinking he is not a bad guy, she chose to not tell truths.
Whenever she was accused of things she didn't do, such as MMS, theft etc. she waited for someone to solve the problem for her. She never had it in her to walk away holding her head high.
She knew Mitali put Raj in jail! Instead of trying to help innocent Raj, she chose to not speak up! Later Raj turned into a villain and it's only then Pragya spoke! Where was her inner conscience??
She knew Tannu was a bad woman early on when she caused Maa's heart attack. She never chose to confront her and tell her off but instead supported her duing TaBhi pregnancy as if Tannu was a poor innocent girl who needed all the support in the world. Where was Pragya's good judgement?
Aaliyah was caught trying to kill BB. Abhi wanted to punish Aaliyah.. But Pragya chose to keep her home and later also sent her to Australia! Did she behave like a responsible person here?
Daadi told her to become Mogambo! Why did she have to agree?! When she realized she is not winning why didn't she give up? Did she have it in her to go by her heart or dare and tell Abhi the truth?? She always convinced herself with some excuse to not take risk!!
In the last epi, Daadi tried to blast Abhi and make him feel guilty. He gave back and left because he didn't think Daadi was right. Also he was listening to Taaliyah in the early days of marriage. When he realized their ways are wrong and useless, he stopped working with them. Why didn't Pragya have the strength to stand on her own?
So Pragya as a person makes so many illogical mistakes and ends up putting herself in trouble and others too. People walk over you but if you have inner strength, you stand up and kick them off.
That's something I would like to see in Pragya. Not always hiding behind lies and others' pressures and cry when things get out of hand. I want to see her tackling problems upfront especially when you have an upper hand.
Then Pragya doesn't need to suffer, Maa doesn't need to get kidnapped and beaten up, BB doesn't need to die, Abhi doesn't need to cry while Pragya has truth and power in her hand.
