Author's note: I have tried my best to translate the following song but I think it's not close to the original lyrics. The beautiful composition of 'Mera Pyar' is by Amir Zaki.
Chapter Twelve
Abhishek Mehra realized that life was getting even with him for the sins he had committed, knowingly. He was being recompensed for looking for love where there was only duplicity.
As he sat in his green room, he heard the crowd cheering for him. The world seemed hollow and the noise only sounded from a distance. He looked at his reflection in the mirror and saw only the face of a murderer. He had brutally killed dreams of a bride when he had walked out on her on their wedding night.
He saw the phone ringing on his vanity table but decided to ignore it. The announcement was to be made soon, he better focused on the show tonight. He drank water and waited for his cue to resume the concert after his break. The last time he had looked forward to his performance had turned out to be his worst nightmare. He still remembered his wife's face. She was too shaken, inside out.
He leaned forward on the table and this time he saw a douchebag in the mirror. He had had several opportunities to tell her so many things yet he kept mum. He continued to play her for a fool after their marriage, yet she never turned her back on him whenever he had needed her.
The walk from his green room to the stage seemed like a chore, how he wished he could lose himself in the oblivion, his alcohol offered if not in the arms of his love.
He continued singing his famous songs but as they reached the end, he ended up playing the following composition.
Mera, tumhara, woh gher, hamara..
Toota hey, bikhra hey, jaisey sitara
(Mine, yours, that home was ours)
(It's broken, shattered like a star)
He had broken her heart, time after time but never realized what she had gone through until he tasted the taste of his own medicine. For the first time in his life, he had lost hope in her and their marriage.
Meri awaaz sun lena merey geetoun main tum
Woh alfaaz chun lena jo hojatey they guom
(Hear my voice in my songs)
(Choose the words which were lost)
Forgiveness now seemed like a long lost idea for being a cheat throughout their relationship, he realized as he pondered over his own words. He flaunted his girlfriend in front of his wife when just the thought of her being with someone knocked the air out of him.
Mera pyar tum hi ho, tum hi to ho, Jana
Merey saath tum hi ho, tum hi tu ho
(You are my love, will always be)
(You are with me, will always be)
May be that was the price he had to pay for being in love with somebody whom he will never have.
Bhulana na,
Mera Pyar tum hi ho..
(Don't forget)
(You are my love)
He only hoped, someday. Someday she would know how much he loved her, because it hurt too damn much to not be with her.

The walk from the vanity room to the recording room was not an easy one. She was uncertain of so many things but it was a bit too late to leave them all stranded in the middle of a live show. How she wished Abhi was here to take care of things, just be by her side while she faced her combat.
"Ladies and gentlemen, we have with us the famous Abhishek Prem Mehra's wife. Just yesterday we were informed of the relationship status change but it seems there was some confusion and so here we have with us ms-"
"Mrs."
"Mrs. Abhishek Mehra, it's a pleasure to have you on our show."
"Thank you for having me here." She replied with a polite smile, fighting the urge to fiddle with her sari pallu or the earrings or wrist watch.
"Viewers we promised you last night that we will have an interview recorded with the rockstar today but we present today his wife. So Mrs. Rockstar what do you have to say in response to miss super model's claim on your husband."
"As you must have checked by now, the divorce deed has not taken place and nor will it ever because I and Abhi are in this for real. Ms. Ahuja had gone too far this time I'd say. It's true they both were going out before we got married but their relationship ended just as Abhi being a gentleman that he is, valued our marriage."
"You knew they were in a relationship when you got engaged to the rockstar?"
"Everyone has a past and I don't blame him because I knew his intentions were pure. Even before he agreed to marry me, he had asked her to marry him but she refused because of her career."
The anchor was taken aback by the revelation so she leaned forward in her chair and asked, "so he married you because Tanushri Ahuja had turned him down?"
Here pragya found the cue she had not hoped for, she shook her head and smiled. "He married me because I loved him." She twisted her answer, only a little. The truth was she loved him now and that's what mattered in that instant.
"The rest of the girls must envy you now! But, let me bring one more important question that has been playing in our minds, Ms. Ahuja has proclaimed about the baby and their forthcoming wedding, what do you have to say about it?"
"Our wedding took place in front of everyone, the clipping must still be with you. And I'm not the person who would go about making people believe about my own life. I and Abhi know we are still married and will always be and that is enough for me. The real reason I'm here is to set ms. Ahuja's rumour to a stop. Since Abhi is not around, I think it was imperative to clear the air before it fogged his image. He is a celebrity and he respects his fans and their love. It is inappropriate to create rumours specially when Abhi is not in town and ruins his image in the eyes of his loyal fans."
She paused for only a brief moment and then said what was not to be disclosed on a forum without consulting her husband. She was ready to mark her territory, in every sense.
"As for the baby, I'm delighted to announce that the only baby that concerns Abhi is.. With me."
It took the news reporter a while to grasp the meaning, her eyes widened. "Well.. Um. Congratulations to you and your husband Mrs. Abhishek Mehra." She deliberately took her given name then turned to another camera which zoomed in and said, "that's, that's more than proof that we were hoping for. We congratulate the parents to be and wish them luck. It's time for some commercials, see you after the break."
P. S you know the drill guys! What do you think of pragya's comeback?
