He respects her is clearly eveident from his dialogues and actions.

He did not respect her initially when he thought her to be a gold digger but now he does respect her and knows what kind of a person she is.

Deeps I think people have varied perceptions of what they see; many times the mind is made up within the first few episodes and its hard for people to deviate from that train of thought.

Also people see what they want to see and block out the rest..

Yes, in their personal space, Abhi does not recognize Pragya as his wife..but his taunts and digs at her are not out of disrespect but of affection.

He is just a guy who needs to be understood and he makes no effort to be understood.

Ya he speaks that way but he doea not mean it and he talks that way to many others as well and not just Pragya. Since the beginning he was never a character to be hated at all. But I donno how can somebody not see the good and positive side of him. 😕 Atleast Pragya has understood him well.

Deepu, most people who can't stand Abhi look at him from the POV of what happened with Pragya. She still got into a hate marriage and she still has no love from her husband. So there is a huge gap/ imbalance in that relationship. I feel that way too if you look from Pragya's eyes... Especially the first few days of marriage.. But Abhi was oblivious...

SO TRUE abhi has absolutely ZERO angst about whether or not people understand him. no insecurity on that front. he really does not care.

when people he things are close to him get him wrong and betray him (AALU), that's when he hurts, and then only because he doesn't understand how someone he believes in could go so astray.

but otherwise yeah...abhi doesn't need anyone to understand him, in the sense of psychological neediness.

of course everyone becomes stronger if they have those one or few close people in their lives who understand them on a deep level and support them and compensate for their shortcomings sometimes - pragya eventually becoming that person for abhi, and abhi for her, is really a beautiful love story in my opinionnn
