Mini me, the summary is: Yes, I think it's possible he's doing this out guilt and a wish to make him hate her, but I don't think it's likely!

GUys, do you think pragya throws herself into the fire? That she rather kill herself than be married to Suresh?

Abhi goes bonkers?

For me, Pragya =/= self harm. I can never see that for her. Mostly because I don't want to see her characterized that way. But I guess to be honest I wouldn't put it beyond the CVs. And it would totally extend the "dramatic" tone of the show, which seems to be a goal/desire of the production team, at least by Shabbz' indication -_-

Mina, redemption it is! That is what made me feel this way.
The moments of closeness he is trying to spend with her could be, according to him, the last moments he will have with her. So, he is trying to live them in his own way while still making him hate her.

It's not a heroine kind of sacrifice. It's not exactly sacrifice. Heroines sacrifice because they believe in their hero's happiness. Here for Abhi, it would also be his way of dealing with the biggest wrong step he took. He knows Pragya had feelings for Suresh. He does not know Suresh didn't love her. He does not know Suresh loves BB. There must be a reason why they never made Abhi aware of these things.

Today it all stuck me because if not anyone, Abhi could not hurt Ro Daadi. But he did. He did "bhangra" in front of her. The tear I saw in Abhi's eyes while he ties the gathbandhan (as long as it is not Shabbir's irritated eye), could be that pain of letting her go.

It will certainly make a great redemption track though.

We all know the marriage won't happen. Nor will Pragya get separated from Abhi. They are tied by destiny. And destiny voids Abhi's efforts of separation by burning him.

If Abhi only comes to know about the truth through a third party, he will have to stop the wedding. But it would be so awkward for them to live together. And their relationship won't grow a bit.

If Abhi is doing it to get a love confession from her, it's fine. But he does not seem to be ready to do the same. So again, it gets complicated.

If Abhi is to expose Taaliyah/Bhabhi, it does not make sense that he put Pragya (especially her family) with so much torture.

But if Abhi is trying to make her hate him, it all makes sense.

He blackmailed her. He blackmailed Suresh. He hurt Sarla/Ro Daadi.

He did it all alone.

He dressed her up for her wedding with her new guy. A disgusting thing to do.

He takes her mangalsutra off- knowing how precious it is to her.

He is doing it all before Daadi is awake so that he can get it done in one go.

He threatened to upload her MMS. I will never believe Abhi will really do something like that. He went to that extent to get PraSu hitched.

So, once Abhi catches fire, may be Pragya saves him. Or Abhi saves Pragya. He might tell her to just get married and get away from him. Because that is the best apology he can give her.

But Pragya will stay with him. She will tell him she always understood his motives that made him behave against her. He will perhaps slowly forgive himself with her by his side.

If they don't deal with Abhi's guilt and redemption now, when will they deal with it? So the more I think about it, the more it looks like a possibility to me.

It can definitely make a nice fic if not a scenario in the soap. It gives me a poignant insight into Abhi's heart.

Tia!!! Unfortunately when I read it, I thought with a sinking heart "acck, it is all too possible!!" I believe I saw someone else mention this idea in another thread too, or a version of it. And yeah I think it is possible - what you've been saying about his guilt makes sense to me. Moreover it would explain his determined OTTness the whole time and how that contrasts with the odd quiet/serious moments we have seen here and there (I had to skip a bunch of pages - what did everyone think about the bits with Mr. Producer?! Can't get out of my mind how quietly and coldly he told Mr. Producer to not interfere in his personal business. Also, it may not have been that moment specifically, but Abhi today was giving me strong Aaliya-feels, in terms of how she gets when she's plotting and doing nautanki...here's an idea, Mummy and Papa Mehra are travelling actors and got lost at sea while abroad doing a play of authentic nautanki madness XD)

He resepects the producer if nothing else. There was almost a sense of regret having to tell him to not interfere but he heard him out, which is more than I can say for him listening to anyone else. Deep down he probably knows what the Producer mentioned is right, but he doesn't want to acknowledge it, because that would then mean that he is wrong?

@bold - lol Mina di!!! Maybe Nautanki parents will make an entry(kidnappers?)

However, here is the saving grace/silver lining I am holding onto - Abhi's double-edged words this week have me convinced that he sees himself as saacha pyar karne waala and he wants to hold Pragya to his own standard of truth-telling in love. He knows he loves her, he loves her back, he wants everything between them to change, and this is his twisted-as-eff way of setting his world to rights.

However however...I think as a rational person I must admit there's been precious little clue that he does know much of the truth, and he would have to know at least some of it in my scenario. Also from a genre perspective, it doesn't make sense for him to suddenly turn around and be in love with her; the conflict would end in a heartbeat once his "setting of the world" all worked out.

He is determined to have her open up to him you mean? If that was the case, his character is very frank, why doesn't he just ask her. He likes the flare of drama, but he is very straightforward, he's not the kind to beat around the bush so why take it to this extent if he doesn't want her gone? Is it because like he says what Dadi thinks of him makes a difference to him and since she's currently unconscious, come what may he doesn't give a flying ... about what anyone thinks about him.

BUT, another thing that occurred to me - if Abhi was doing all this to make her hate him, if he was sacrificing her "for her own good" - that would be a complete heroine move. And I'm not sure the CVs are so groundbreaking to give us a hero that does that...at least not on this particular show!!

For this just one thing - I doubt it. CVs are not that creative.

Then again, if they did, it could lead to an interesting redemption track? Like if Pragya doesn't marry Suresh but he still manages to push her out of his life this way (she gets angry and leaves to punish him for his planning?), but then somehow decides to get her back. The audience wants to see guilty, repenting Abhi, and a MU with Pragya would be of interest to an extent...but not to the extent that he becomes heroine-like in his self-sacrifice...and also I have no idea what would make him decide to get her back in this case XD.

For any of this to happen the below should have happened first and considering where the track has moved since the wedding there has been no growth in the story apart from the lost in each others eyes (Eyesex!) That is not enough to have a redemption track, no matter how guilty he feels. The redemption will not move their story anywhere at this stage because it is a very one sided relationship.

Finally, my biggest sticking point is, I can't decide how Abhi feels or what he knows about Pragya's feelings towards Suresh. I want to believe that he could never actually force this shaadi because he must know Pragya's happiness and welfare does not actually lie with Suresh, that she does not actually love him. But the show hasn't given me much clue really

And yeah anyway as I mentioned upthread, this mention of kidnappers and fires makes me think that whatever Abhi's planning is, it's not gonna turn out to be sophisticated or thoughtful, and it is gonna be overshadowed by stupid drama 😕

@bold - Same
Whoa, that turned into an essay!! 😳 Didn't mean it to lol 😆
