ahh awesome responses guys! i feel overwhelmed to respond properly so forgive me! 😳

tia i agree with all your points, a lot!! except i still see it as heroine sacrifice, because even though he's doing it to assuage his guilt, he's also doing it for the self-satisfaction of "doing the right thing" even though it's the complete opposite of what he wants. the whole attitude that "i don't deserve to have what i want" is a heroine attribute in these soaps. not say a hero couldn't have it, just that it feels unlikely!

mini me, agree with your points too! i felt he knew the producer was right and he knows he himself is wrong but he's sticking to his plan nonetheless. it's true his frankness doesn't seem to jive with such an intricate plan - in a way i am grasping at straws :P and in the same vein, though it may be delusional, i want to believe it's not a one-sided relationship; all this is an expression of abhi's...god, it feels deranged to call it love, but that's how i was gonna end that sentence :S

alsooo i don't see how possessive abhi fits into all this. part of me is convinced that if he knew he loved her, he would openly do all he could to keep her. so yeah. idk!

Abhi goes bonkers?

No, both Abhi and Pragya aren't suicidal in my understanding.
It might happen that in her effort to save Abhi from fire, Pragya gets stranded and Abhi saves her. Or just that Pragya saves him.

Mina,
Heroines (not that I have seen a lot of heroines) sacrifice because they don't care about their happiness. BUT, they are very "right" in whatever they have done. Like Pragya here, she hasn't done one wrong thing against Abhi to quote her with.

Here Abhi will also not care about what he wants but will only think of her. But he is so wrong in what he has done. Heroines never wrong the hero na? But Abhi has done horrible things to Pragya.

Heroines find a melancholy self-satisfaction in sacrificing to do the right thing. It's the only kind of happiness they believe they're allowed to have. Pragya shows this attitude too.

Heroines don't wrong the hero in outright ways, but their silence and passivity can be unfair on the hero sometimes, which again is the case with Pragya. However usually they aren't held accountable for that kind of thing (because people who write the narratives maybe don't see those as wrongs??)...and what we're talking about here is Abhi holding himself accountable. Which is kind of awesome, if it happens!
