I cannot get Abhi. He is so hurt and upset at Pragya's dhoka, he burns all his yaadein (did he have any except the constant telling her he hated her, loved Tannu?), yet even in his innermost thoughts is convinced Tannu is his true love.

What does it matter then to Abhi who Pragya has an affair with? How can he be in love with Tannu and have feelings for Pragya? Is he just a macho regressive male who believes he can fool around with whomever he wants, and openly at that, but his ghar ke rakhwale has to be pure as virgin snow?

The shoving and pushing turns me off but today Pragya's confession of love (kinda) was not overtly abnoxious.

I hope when Tannu's fake pregnancy is out, there are no long, yearning looks bet Abigya but that Pragya maintains her dooriyaan in a cold and dignified manner. Btw, does Abhi sleep with Tannu, nothing has been shown except for that wedding night when he was spotted in that blue robe at Tannu's apt. Why is Tannu a permanent fixture in the Mehra household, how come daadi has not put her foot down? Sarla today with her unreasonable demand to see that video clip was the limit.

Getting back to the original question, my opinion is that Abhi is a dhokebaaz and a hypocrite and I am going to enjoy seeing him squirm when the truth outs.

He is neither of that. He is not in love with Tannu and he knows that. His overt confessions of love for Tannu have been in front of Pragya and not Tannu. That is to make himself assured not to fall for Pragya which he has been.
He is attached to Pragya and has strong emotions for her. That is why all this rage. If you follow his eyes and not mouth throughout his time with Pragya, the answer becomes clear.

In my opinion he hasn't slept with Tannu since the wedding night. They've kissed and all but haven't been able to hook up. We keep seeing that everytime he legit tries to hook up with her, fate intervenes somehow and he can't. Daadi shows up or he has a car accident or Pragya is forced to accompany him. That partially accounts for Tanu's desperation. But that's just my opinion.

As to the rest, a thought occurred to me today and I can't let it go now. Abhi likes being right, which is obvious, but he also enjoys being wronged. Because no matter what the situation is, he puts himself on the side of being the victim, failing to see how much he victimizes others. It's honestly insane how he flipped it all around so that he's the wronged husband. Someone mentioned that he's acting like he and Pragya had this great relationship. Not only is he delusionally doing that, he's convinced himself that she, not he, damaged this great relationship they had with her actions. It's absolutely ridiculous. I just...it's so nuts. 😆

So yes, huge, huge hypocrite. I want him exposed to his Daadi desperately.

Tia, he puzzles me, a grown man not knowing which way the wind blows. He should have figured it out by now.

@bold i almost feel like abhi looks at pragya like a toy, a belonging; "oooh daadi brought me a biwi! let me play with her, let's see how far i can tease her, surely she won't break. oh wait, what, excuse me, why is my biwi-toy doing something i didn't expect???? haaye she is betraying me! doesn't she know no one else is allowed to touch her! she is my biwi!"

ok i know that's a bit much but something about his biwi biwi mantra yesterday really makes me think he sees pragya in this particular category...and it's an objectified one.

not to say that he doesn't have any normal appreciation with her. just that that's the predominant tone i'm getting during this track.

for the rest, i haven't seen the full ep yet. i truly hope he does not in his innermost thoughts think he loves tanu - that's one thing i don't want to believe. and in my opinion we haven't seen anything to definitively say they've been sleeping together after the wedding.

i actually quite like your thread title. my vote is for enigma rather than hypocrite. i like the spin that abhi's had all these secret unrecognized feelings for pragya but we hadn't seen it because it was hidden inside him. i mean now it's manifesting as gross possessiveness rather than genuine feelings, but i'm willing to believe there is something not-gross there. the beginnings of attachment and love - the very very beginnings.

and to circle back to my point...i don't think it's that he necessarily thinks mard does whatever/aurat stays pure. he's not upset at pragya's characterlessness - though he is throwing that at her - as much as the idea that she betrayed him by a) supposedly being involved by someone else b) behind his back. he's not taking kindly to the idea of sharing - let alone the idea of pragya being entitled to her own agency and her own satisfaction, however she might define it.

I have the same opinion that he hasn't been sleeping with Tannu at all, perhaps not even on the wedding night (one can hope).
Yes, he is highly delusional and that is a great observation that he likes to play victim. He does, he is he bully but acts like he is the one being clobbered. And this whole reaction is way out of proportion. Are the CVs trying to paint a complex character for us? Not the usual hero type but a childish man, immature, egotistic, with a constant air of self aggrandizement about him and with no reasoning capacity whatsoever? Freud would have loved to analyze his psyche.

He is a grown man but not a sorted out one. He is very raw. And he has issues here. He never wanted to marry Tannu or anyone and settle down but when Daadi was on his head, he proposed to her.
With Pragya, the MUs stop him from nurturing the emotions he feels for her. Sometimes things go out of his hand but other times he operates under MU and misbehaves with her.

Just like we were discussing last night. 😲 Soapwatcher, funny you should mention Freud because we were playing armchair psychologists last night and considered various reasons why Abhi is so juvenile at times and why he resorts to violence so frequently.

so ok, they did have a relationship. their weird extended nok jhok thing? i'm convinced he saw that as a special relationship that he actually kind of liked. he kept her around and he defaulted back to this type of interaction with her when there wasn't some big tamasha keep him riled up on some supposed fault or other. so i think that he does see damage to their relationship, and he resents it, and he feels a loss.

none of this to defend him - only to explain what i think is in his heart, and how that filters through in his head. it's not that he's lashing out at her for destroying a good or real pati-patni dynamic. it's that she's stepped out of the role he thought she was playing; it's that she's apparently so close to someone else, sharing something that he's never asked of her or offered to her but that he assumed she wouldn't be sharing with anyone because of this thing she has with him.

if that didn't make sense...what i mean is that abhi did feel a closeness to her, despite all his words to the contrary. and he feels she violated the terms they had between them.

whether those terms made any sense or are the least defensible, that's another question :P
