Amazing update. So Abhi is planning to stop the marriage.

Yipee ! Our lioness has roared, step back Abhi she is a force to be reckoned with, love that she got her spirit back and she is standing up for herself with dignity and pride. Loved this chapter to the core .Waiting eagerly for the next update, wonder how is Abhi going tell Aaliyah that the wedding is not going to happen.

Chapter 7

"Abhi beta, what's wrong? Is Pragya okay?" Dadi saw the worried look on her grandson's face. She knew there were problems in his marriage, but she always had faith in his good hear, that he wouldn't go out of his way to cause her any pain.

Approaching his Dadi, Abhi gave her a reassuring smile before turning to the guests. "I apologize for the confusion. Today has been a very hectic day and as you know, my wife isn't feeling very well. For that reason, today's sangeet ceremony will be postponed. I'm sorry for taking up your time. Good night."

Though the guests were confused at the sudden change in the atmosphere, the quietly shuffled out of the house, leaving the Mehra family to their affairs.

"Bhai, why are all the guests leaving?" Aaliya came down the stairs, her lehnga trailing behind her.

"There are some things we need to discuss Aaliya." Abhi turned to Purab. "Tell me the truth, do you want to go through with this marriage? Not for anyone's sake or to protect anyone, but do you truly want to marry my sister?"

Purab looked at Aaliya and then turned to Bulbul. Staring into Bulbul's eyes, he said "No bhai. This wedding would only result in pain for the both of us and our families."

Both families look astonished at his admission. Dadi stepped forward, "Abhi what is this? What is Purab saying?"

Abhi turned to his Dadi, tears beginning to form in his eyes, "Dadi, I've made so many mistakes, hurt so many people. But not anymore. This wedding is not going to happen. A marriage to be founded on love, not pressure or something as stupid as revenge."

"Mistakes, what mistakes, beta" Sarla asked.

"Ma, the thing is that - "

"Bhai, let me explain" Purab gave Abhi a shake of his head. "The thing is that I don't love Aaliya, this marriage was only for the sake of our families. But we now realize that a marriage shouldn't start with compromises".

"But Bhai! "Aaliya couldn't let her planning go to waste; she had waiting for this day to come for too long.

"Aaliya, we'll talk later. For now I think everyone should go rest. It's been a long day, we'll discuss everything tomorrow." Abhi watched as slowly everyone went to his or her rooms and his in-laws went home. He needed the night to think things through and figure out a plan to fix all the problems he had created.

Purab walked up to his friend and put his hand on his shoulders, "Thank you Bhai. I knew would do right by us. I'm sorry I didn't tell you everything before."

Abhi pulled Purab in for a hug, "There's no reason for you to apologize. I'm the one who should be saying sorry." He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned around to see Bulbul smiling at him.

"Jiju, we're just happy that things can finally go back to normal." She looked upstairs towards her Di's room and an expression of sorrow came across her face. "Pragya Di is the one you need to apologize to. I don't think you understand how much pain she's tolerated in this marriage. She sacrificed her own happiness for our sake. If there's anyone who deserves to be happy it's Di. Promise me that you'll make her happy."

Abhi looked at Bulbul. These sisters were always concerned about each other. How could he have thought that they had bad intentions, especially Pragya? He held Bulbul's hand in his own, "I promise Bulbul, that I'll try my best. This may not be an ideal marriage, but the respect I hold for Pragya now has overruled any hatred I ever held towards her." He dropped her hands and smiled at the couple standing in front of him. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go figure out how to face my wife."

As Abhi walked away from them, Bulbul and Purab smiled knowingly at each other. Respect was something newly formed in Abhi's mind, but they had seen the love that was growing in that marriage.

Oh dear...glad Abhi is turning himself around & Purab & Bulbul will be happy but I think Aaliya needs more careful handling than that...heehee otherwise, great update, loving the story, looking forward to the next turn 😊 Thanks for posting!!!
