Episode 1:
As the scene unfolds, a make-up man is busy giving final touches to the make-up on a model, who is wearing noodle straps. As the make-up progresses, the camera rolls around to reveal her cheeks, eyelids, eyelashes, eyes and lips (her face is not shown as yet). Finally, the make-up artist gives a sigh of satisfaction. Now, the hair stylist takes over. At that moment, there's a knock on the door. "Come in" a very soft pure (the model's) voice says.
A spot boy enters and says , "Madam, the shot is ready". He is instantly dismissed by a slight nod from the model. Finally the hair stylist ties a scarf around the model's hair.
The model is shown walking gracefully towards the sets. As soon as the director sees her, he asks, "Nidhi, ready?'. She nods her head. "please come and stand here" he says as he delicately guides her to the required position. The fan is placed directly to her back. "All ready? Action!" Nidhi smartly unties the scarf on her hair, thus causing her silky and beautiful hair to fly around lavishly in all directions. This is also the first time her face is shown.
The shot is okayed after 2-3 takes. The next scene shows her dressed in casuals and walking towards her car, followed by her secretary. As soon as she is seated in the car, she asks the secretary, "what time is my next shoot" The secretary consults his diary and says "Ma'am, 8:00 pm". She consults her watch, contemplates for a moment, then says to her driver, "To Rohan's place" The drives nods obediently.
Her phone rings and she picks up, "hello mom, how are you?"
A dignified and respectable yet simple-looking middle-aged lady is shown talking on the other side of the phone, "I am good my darling, how are you? Where are you?"
"I am just on my way to Rohan's."
"Nidhi, what have you guys decided about marriage?"
"Mom, what's the hurry? Maybe in a couple of years or so.."
"Nidhi.. what is this beta, don't you understand? You have been engaged for so long - 2 years have passed .."
Nidhi hits her forehead in apparent irritation, "Mom, you don't understand mom.."
Her mother's voice too was laced with frustration now, "Nidhi!!..Do you grasp the seriousness of the issue? We live in a small town here.."
Nidhi almost shouted, "mom, please don't start again..I am hanging up. Have to call up my producer.Bye, you take care, love you ma" and she kissed into the phone .
"Okay, love you too my darling!" , said her mother with a sigh before he line went dead on the other side.
Nidhi wondered how she could explain to her mother, who had typical middle class values, that ashe did not want to get married for a few years at least. She had worked too hard to reach where she was standing today - one of the top names in the modeling industry. Already, she had announced her engagement on her parents' insistence and disappointed many of her fans. But, marriage would ruin her career. A No producer with any business sense would hire a married model. No, she could not put the tag of married and taken' on herself and ruin her image. Taken, she had been, no doubt. She wondered why her mother thought it imperative for her to get married. She and Rohan did not need any marriage certificate to share a no-holds-barred relationship. For all intents and purposes, they were already married, without the unwanted marriage' label attaching to them. Life was just perfect for both of them.
She was jolted out of her thoughts as the car stops outside a magnificent bungalow. "Pick me up after half an hour", she says as she gets out from the car.
As she enters, she sees Rohan at his bar, having a drink. His back is turned to the camera. A mischievous smile light up her face, and she tip-toes to him and puts her arms around him. He is about to turn.

He turns, but his face is filled with anger, when he sees her.
"What happened, sweetheart?" Nidhi asks in a shocked tone.
"Do you need to ask me?" He throws the newspaper "The Screen" at her. The paper touches her shoulders and falls down in such a way, that the front-page headline "Supermodel Nidhi Verma seen hanging around with upcoming model Ashutosh Mathur" along with a very lively and awkwardly close photograph of her with Ashutosh was clearly visible as the paper lands on the floor and Nidhi glances towards it. "You have been painting the town red with every new guy on the block, even after our engagement" fumed Rohan.
"But, you know how the media spreads such baseless rumors. You are yourself in this career" she says pleadingly.
"Oh yeah! So, are you a bigger celebrity than me? Why is the media so partial to you. Have any such news been published about me. There can not be smoke without fire"
"Bbbut listen...!"
"Nothing doing! Enough is enough! I am sick of being the butt of jokes in my friends circle. No Nidhi, you have to choose between your career and our marriage. They cannot go hand in hand".
By now, Nidhi is miserable. She starts crying. The very next moment, a loud laughter resonates in the air. "Come on Nidz, I was just kidding!" Rohan says laughing loudly. "How nave you are! Don't you even know me that much? Do you consider me the stereotype kinda' man? Being in the same field, don't I know to what extent the media can go? Anyways, why blame them, they are here to earn their daily bread". So saying, he goes up to Nidhi and hugs her and kisses her forehead reassuringly.
Nidhi is too astonished to speak for a while. Slowly recovering herself and disengaging herself from his arms , she said with mock anger, "Stupid! If you do that again, I'll rather choose my career to our marriage".
"I'm really so sorry, sweetheart, I didn't know you will take it so seriously". They hug again.
In a lighter mood, he teases her by saying, "But, one thing's for sure, your chemistry with Ashutosh is just sizzling". "Now, dare you say a word more, ..." So saying, she punches his arm. Ouch' he says with mock pain.
Then, he very seriously looks at her and when their eyes meet, he says "Remember one thing, Nidz, nothing and nobody can come between us". They look very earnestly in each other's eyes.
The camera rolls gradually away from them, and towards the newspaper on the floor till it focuses on Ashutosh's photograph.

The same article of the newspaper is shown in Ashutosh's hand and he is reading it with a look of satisfaction. In the meantime, his secretary is shown talking on her cell phone. "Just a minute, I'll ask Ashutosh sir" she says into the phone. Walking over to Ashutosh, she says, "Sir, there's a good offer from Param-eminencebiz'. They have a photo-shoot in an hour's time and their model has backed out. I think you should grab the opportunity of working with such a business giant. It is a company any model would die to work with."
"Have you gone nuts? Do you think I'll devaluate myself by taking a proxy assignment and that too at such a short notice? Just refuse." Ashutosh admonishes her.
"But, sir..." secretary pleads. Don't you hear me, Pinky?" he retorts.
"Yes sir", she says resignedly. "Hello" she talks into her phone, "sir is very busy today with other assignments, .. I know but.. I think he looks equally good with any model - Nidhi or any other ... He would have taken it up, but you see he has a very busy schedule today..'
At the very mention of Nidhi's, Ashutosh starts up and literally snatches the phone from his secretary, "Ashutosh here, who will be cast opposite me?"
He listens for a while, is apparently satisfied by what he hears, then replies with an air of indifference, "Well, whoever it is, I'll not want to miss a chance to work with such a good company as yours .. well never mind her, you know how these secretaries are!..yes right now, I am busy with a shoot.. But will try to make it in an hour's time. . okay" he disconnects the phone and hands it to the confused secretary, who says Sir, I don't understand.."
"Well, you needn't understand! Now leave me alone".
"Yes sir", she walks away still perplexed.
Ashutosh walks over to the bar and helps himself to a pint of whisky, picks up the newspaper again to trace and caress Nidhi's face in the photograph, consults his watch and says to himself, "in an hour".
