So much resemblence to my own story... What a post Mudraji!! 👏 Really nice!!

I also worked very hard to get into CS... Have worked equally hard for scoring 1 mark as ppl do to earn 1 rupee//$/ etc. Never enjoyed anything in school days - was a total nerd 😳 Was the happiest on earth when I got into CS that too in a highly reputed institution & then started the real troubles 😆 In the very first lecture, one big head of a national level govt. research institute, who was hon. visiting faculty in my institute came & poured all his knowledge of memory, hardware, von neumann architecture, intel pentium chips etc etc onto us in just 45 minutes. 95% of class was like 🤔 Next came Prog. Lang. class. Every statement ended with a semicolon in C. 😲 Everything had a datatype or returntype. Normal & long int or float & double behaved same but took up diff space in memory (Again that buzzword "memory" ) Headers needed be included & at the end of 40 min. Prof. introduced us to "very basic" data structure "Array" The poor us couldnt fathom why we needed to use complicated stuff like array and such tedious prog. lang etc when computers are made to make human life easier

The lab sessions were no less horrible. The first ever program of my life "hello world" in C printed hello world perfectly but Nobody could see it... Program executed & came back to borland C editor I literally had tears in my eyes. Then a kind lab assistant came and put getch(); function before main() ended & included its reqd header <conio.h> I was again all smile smile when I could see "hello world" flashing onscreen!! Chhoti chhoti baaton mein life ki badi khushiyan kaise milti hai - I learnt that day!! Cobol was a nightmare 🤢 A statement had to start from a particular location only & it had to be associated with a number o.w. big fat errors generated and nobody could know what the error msg. meant... The boys in my class too used to be occupied with some or the other "event" only. They always used to copy programs done by orher sincere students. Used to team up with sincere girls for academic projects. Needless to say, we girls did all the hard work but credit was equally given to all team members. Professors never followed any set rules for teaching or paper-setting. Always asked what they taught & taught only what they were comfortable with. Rest all was given as "Self study." For any difficult problem, if we sought Prof's guidance, we were told: "You are engineers; you shouldnt be spoonfed; do it yourself" 😊

Eventually got used to all the troubles, studied very hard and maintained my top rank till I graduated. And finally what... Ek rishta aaya, first ever alliance for me & in just 2 days everything got finalized. We were not aware of each other's existence till day before that day & we were ordained to be lifepartners that day 😳 😃 Hai na kissa kismat ka... 🤣🤣🤣

Here few things I liked to highlight...

First one is, if girls are to be married eventually... with whomever parents wish to... then why the parents have not brought them up to be married only? ... why I am asking this is... girls are facing this discrepancy from boys due to insecurity, social pressures, financial problems...and what not...

Parents love the girl children.. and try to give them good studies... but when the child grows big (from the early teens it self), the tensions about protecting her from the prying evil eyes begins... this is not allowing the parents to let her grow on her own...

A girl may not attend extra classes just like boys. Mom and dad needs to know about her friends.. If there is a boy in her friends' circle.. then 1000 questions are there to answer...

Though the girl stuides enough to clear the competitive exams, later it will get more and more difficult as, the higher studies at these premier colleges are just not ...'by heart and vomit' formula... The lack of application of theoretical studies will pull the girl behind... where as, music, organisation, or sports or any activity not only relaxes the mind... but also, teaches a methodical approach to the problem... those who understand this simple thing properly, will shine in the studies too..
This is the very simple secret of boys getting better and better in the applied sciences or any area for that matter.

Here, I have portrayed Nidhi following every successful person she met in her life. (first her cousin.. and then her classmates)... One thing is lack of judgement...to know what is success and what is not... second thing is lack of guidance... You may tell me this is not the case now a days - in the Internet age... but my answer is NO... few girls may have that luck... but let aside the small towns even in cities, many times girls learn things from the classmates only...

Awesome teacherji..very thought provoking..
Girls are still not given the same freedom as boys.
I was very lucky to have a my dad by me in whatever I wanted to do.. and all I wanted to was to follow him.. and that I did..Of course all that came at a price.. but I would not have it any other way.. I dread to think what it is like to ask someone for any thing or permission to do some thing.

Somehow it is not what parents are directing their child to do also... All parents have good intentions of getting the girl married in time.. Husband has intention giving free rein of career path and all...

But the unseen restrictions posed in the name of society ... social pressures and lack of clarity about various aspects and at time financial dependency are clouding a girl's thought process...
