Before noticing the person at the door, Nidhi ran behind the large computer monitor screen... which Rohan used for presentations.

Ashutosh is hardly interested in acknowledging about it... he is here for some different purpose.

Rohan recognised the person instantly...( who wouldnt!!!... the person who put India on the global map in medicine).. and felt humbled to see a person of that stature standing in the door way and seeking his permission to enter in.

Infact, Rohan was astonished to see the way Baba was treated just for the sake of the severity of his illness and not because of his position as Dr.Ashutosh's father or social worker himself... and hardly anybody..even Nidhi knew that her father-in-law (should I say ex??) is here for the treatment.

It is hard to digest the fact that celebrities (in their own way) operating at an insignificant common man level rather than exhibiting the extra pomp.

'She is my fiancee' ..he mumbled apologetically.

'I take you are Mr. Rohan... I understand that you are working with the strategies of promoting KGH ..but hardly see any involvement with my father's cause... I want more details about it'

Rohan is a bit irritated now... to answer a stranger ( he may be Ashutosh..but still..)..demanding for one of the many things he working on...
just the way.. a hindi film's hero ordering police commissioner to arrest the thug he caught...

' India is suffering with many problems.. and we are doing our bit to do justice to each one in our most possible ways' .. trying to keep sarcasm out of his tone.

'I would like to get involved in my father's cause and do the survey on site.. I am going there today... I have come to tell you that... and..

by the way, Mr.Rohan!! please donot add one more problem to our country's sufferings by romancing during the duty hours.. we may not be answerable to anybody..but surely answerable to our own conscience..'

Rohan rooted to the spot.. staring at the back of retreating Ashutosh...

Behind the screen.. Nidhi could bring herself to control only now and could hear only the last sentence properly of that person... she came out slowly.

Rohan turned towards her... 'Hey!! please stop... he doesnt belong to this hospital... he is Ash...'

'Its OK Rohan... he may not belong here... but what he said is correct... we are answerable to our conscience'...and left..

For a moment, Rohan considered kicking the table hard... but quickly remembered that it is not ideal to play football with a broken toe...

Suddenly it occurred to him.. does Dr.Ashutosh know about the timings of the blasts they do at the mining site? ... In case, Dr Ashutosh is starting now... surely today's dust clouds will be adultered with Dr. A's blown up micro particles...Oh! God .. he must search now and warn...

came out of the door... ever busy cell phone rang... picked up the call impatiently...

'Rohan!! what is stopping you? we are all waiting for the strategy discussion here'.. coach is thundering over the phone...momentarily Rohan forgot about Dr A...and proceeded to the waiting team.

Ashutosh went to see Baba again... Suddenly it is important for him to make his father know that he has a heart which cares for others... may be in an invisible way...

'Baba!! I am going to the mining site now...'

'you can request the dean to make arrangements.. they know when it is safe to go there...'

'OK'

'Baba are you sure.. about the treatment here?... I would like to shift you to Delhi'...

also, mentally Ashutosh started comparing the hospital with the ones in west... an unavoidable problem with all NRIs... a quick memory loss about the conditions here.

'I am very fine here... and I am here because... Dr.Nidhi is working here'

If even for a fraction of second he had hesitated ...to get involved with the health hazards at the mining ... now completely vanished into thin air...

Certainly mining has some rules.. but with the same certainty not the illegal mining... in a moment, ...Ashutosh found the dead body of his vehicle's driver next to him... The sharp and spiking pain in the lower parts of his body said.. he is still alive...

and his legs are trapped under the mangled rubbish of stone and metal..that had a shape of a land rover a few minutes ago... The single narrow road which he travelled is now completely cordonned off with the boulders...

under the hot afternoon Sun, the shock and exhaustion are hovering over him to take a good hold of him any moment... He desperately reached to the cellphone... fortunately still there is some signal... called KGH...

Immediate alerts all over... but it is a kind of well known fact.. that by the time they mobilise the helicopter teams and search ..they may well bring two dead bodies...even for a reigning cheif minister, it took two days to locate the body... and then the cold and hyena infested jungles...

'Do you wish to connect me to any body Dr Ashutosh??' the kind operator's voice...

It is said, you see everything so clear in the death... the same is happening with Ashutosh... 'Dr Nidhi... at KGH'

'please wait...'

'Hello Dr Nidhi!! Dr Ashutosh wants to talk to you.. he is met with a near fatal accident... please make it fast'

'Hello...hello... Dr Ashutosh'... shocked..or double shocked... or what.. no idea

...she couldnt make it up to the football match for a medical emergency... but surely not this emergency...

'I love you Nidhi'... looked at the phone with disbelief...may be glad to hear those much anticipated three words of her life time... but in this condition ...cant even react ...

'I...I love you too Dr.Ashutosh.. you will come back'..she is crying...

Rohan is back from the game... they won this match and tomorrow is the prestigious final match.. which will be covered by an international sports channel... straight away started to Nidhi's cabin... dean called him and told him briefly about the situation...

Oh!!! the shock of his life... he spoke to Dr A just that morning... he ran to the operator and removed Nidhi's connection...

'Dr.Ashutosh.. please hang on... please save your cell phone charging... we are reaching you.. we can locate you fast with your phone signal'.. he cut the phone...

Ashutosh is annoyed... he couldnt express himself to Nidhi throughout his life... and now in his death he couldnt because of this fellow coming in between them !!!

What happens if Ashutosh comes to know about Rohan is indeed coming in between them???

Mudraji,truely you are a beautiful writer.I am not surprised for Ashu's reaction.And Nidhi,hide behind the Monitor?i am waiting for the next chap that i want to know what Nidhi want really?Ashutohs and nidhi told I Love you each other.I just love your ff Mudraji. Beautifully written
