I think what dheeraj meant is he feels that amar's character was brought in to make ashu jealous. Characters change based on the audience's reaction. So he may have come as a distraction but could turn out more.
It is a matter of interpretation...on the face of it, he seems to say that he wants to make Ashutosh jealous...and my understanding of KPji is that he does not go for the ordinary,,,,he will always give it his brand of twists,.!
