Hai Doc Lovely chapter... I personally thought Ashu should have accompanied Nidhi for the ultrasound.. after all he was in the same building.. and not in surgery so... But Loved the baby doc part... and Nidhi's fear when he said the same thing he did while dropping her to JS...

👏 Awesome update...

Doc, I understand that part...there is such a thing as professional etiquette too...and this is not even his specialty...I have a friend whose mom is a gynecologist...but when her daughter had to have a CS, she refused to operate on her..and had a colleague do it...

I meant as a doc husband...you don't show him too involved during ultrasounds, doctor visits etc...he must have busy schedules...but still, as a husband and a doc, I thought he would have made it a point to be with her at all times...hence my question if docs don't get involved too much with their wives' pregnancies...

My doc would take off on my husband, who btw is not a doc, every time he missed a visit...unless it was an absolute emergency...she once even asked him if I got pregnant all on my own...and when there were complications, she just tore into him for not taking adequate care...although there was nothing much he could have done...
Well, I think Ashutosh has been a caring husband first...he played violin for her when she could sleep, sat the whole night with her head in his lap, treated her to Pizza etc...
I feel that he has been a bit scared of Dr Bharati, due to her acid tongue and no-nonsense attitude...he has a reputation to maintain at KGH. So he tried to avoid even talking to her and asking the basic doubts...I am sure they would have had several offline discussions when Nidhi was not around.
My own experience is plenty in this direction...one of my colleague (cardiologist) wife was in my care throughout her pregnancy and he was there for the ultrasound only once...then asked me to make a DVD of the scan which he could watch at leisure. Of course, he would catch up with me later on and we had many offline discussions...he was a very busy man with a 12 hour a day schedule...I believe Ashutosh also has such a schedule, wherein he just cant take time off from a surgery/meeting...

That was my whole point...your experience indicates the docs are so busy they don't have the time to spare...I did not mean to say he was not caring...just that he did not seem as involved as a normal husband is these days with the medical aspects of her pregnancy!

Will make sure my daughter thinks twice before marrying a doc 😆

Suja...you should have found yourself a doc like Dr Bharati...my doc was sixty plus when I had my delivery...she was a very senior surgeon and a no-nonsense type...you can imagine when I say she even had dress codes for her patients during check up...and yet she was very modern in that she expected the husband to be involved in every aspect of the pregnancy...she would ask my mother why her son-in-law could not be bothered to acccompany his wife...the way she took off on my husband the day of my delivery, he has not dared to go anywhere near her since then...unless it is an absolute emergency, I would expect a man to be actively involved in the pregnancy process...like my doc said, she did not get pregnant all by herself!

What else to say? Yes, Drs are very busy...on my surgery days, I ended up having lunch at 4 pm, then for rounds and consultations..the day will start at 7.00 AM and end at 11.00 PM plus any night time calls.
I had once commented on the post which said Nidhi should hit back at Ashu as he walked out of their SR to attend to a surgery...this is very normal in a dr's life. The comment which came from one of my friends when I told them about this post was "Unke phere to un-interrupted the na? wahan par to aisa nahin hua ki aadhe phere abhi, phir ek emergency aur uske baad remaining phere?...
Hope this helps.

Since I have one of each, I would ask my son to be involved in his wife's pregnancy and also ask my daughter to make sure her husband was involved...all this assuming that they are actually going to take my advice on such matters...the norm is to be asked to steer clear of private topics...I feel like DB at times...except that my daughter is not as rude as Nidhi is...!
