The year 2011 has seen some sizzling and some not so sizzling couples on TV.Some made headlines with their on screen chemistry and the TRPs soared new highs,while some disappeared even before they could get noticed.As the year inches to a close,Ahmedabad Times takes a dekko at some of the red hot telly jodis.

CAMPUS ROMANCE

If you look back and remember your college days,you will instantly relate to Anant Bajpai (Shaheer Shaikh) and Navya Mishra (Soumya Seth) from Navya.A perfect college love story thats got a happy-ever-after for the romantic leads after all the tiffs and parental disapproval,the protagonists are finally getting married.What began as a typical boy meets girl and goes through the first flush of awkward situations of not being able to share the true feelings made youngsters connect to the show.And heres what keeps the show getting,er,spicier the cute couple have even kissed each other (on the cheeks only silly!) a few times on the show and have expressed their love in Bollywood style (complete with film songs playing in the background).

OPPOSITES ATTRACT

People say opposites attract.The adage seems to be gradually turning true in Bade Acche Lagte Hain.Ram Kapoor (Ram Kapoor) and Priya Sharma (Sakshi Tanwar) belong to complete different backgrounds,education qualifications,families and social background.Their marriage was one of convenience an educated girl marries a rich,overweight man just for her brothers happiness.The sparring spouses gradually become friends and their love is brewing gradually.A typical arranged marriage which has its share of compromises,misunderstandings and adjustments,this is a mature romance with a difference.

PATI AUR WOH

Anandi (Pratyusha Banerjee) and Jagya might have made headlines in the past,but now Jagya (Shashank Vyas) and Gauri (Anjum Farooki) from Balika Vadhu are grabbing eyeballs as the new couple of the tellytown block.Unaware about their past (can you believe these two were even married to each other) Jagya and Gauri fall in love.Their relationship hits some rough patches and then they finally got married to each other.The main ingredients of love jealousy,insecurity and possessiveness are evident and prominent in their relationship.Gauri loves Jagya to the core and wants him to be dedicated to her completely.And Anandi Shes not even in the picture anymore !

MILLS & BOON ROMANCE

This one could be straight out of a Mills & Boon romance.Rich and arrogant biz tycoon Arnav Singh Raizada (Barun Sobti) is deeply attracted to a middle-class girl (Sanaya Irani) from Lucknow in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon.Well,their love story hasnt yet taken off (Arnavs just broken off with girlfriend Lavanya Kashyap),but you can predict the future all the eyelocks and the flying dupatta scenes are leading to one thing a ride in the sunset for the lead pair.Of course there will be lots of hurdles coming up to keep the interest alive,but Barun and Sanaya are turning the heat up already.

AGE IS JUST A NUMBER

It may not be love at first sight,but then its a daily soap,so youve got to be patient.Dr Nidhi Verma (Kritika Kamra),a cheerful and bubbly girl who is interning at Dr.Ashutoshs hospital (Mohnish Behl) falls in love with senior doctor who is quiet and serious.In the show Kuch Toh Log Kahenge,Nidhi wins over patients and the hospital staff with her humour and kindness,and slowly falls in love with Ashutosh and changes his and her own life.Both of them love each other but are scared to express their feelings.Nidhi keeps thinking about him and want to know what he feels about her,while Ashutosh has suppressed his feelings for her because of the huge age gap.Once again,here theres plenty of eyelock sequences which will finally lead to the grand confession scene very soon.

KNOTTY LOVE

An honest lawyer,Viren Singh Vadhera (Karan Tacker) started liking Jeevika Singh Vadhera (Krystal DSouza ) a lot and their relationship developed gradually.They have finally got married and have proved their love for each other.In Ek H a z a a ro n Mein Meri B e h n a Hai,Jeevika is a simple and mature girl who loves Viren and gradually the way their relationship is progressing,the audience is getting attracted to the lovey dovey relationship.Not just on screen,Viren and Jeevika are making headlines off screen too.But thats another story.
