yup.. That is pretty much the USP of the show.. the old school story-telling.. the good old DD feel to it.. when even light romantic shows like Kashish or Kashmakash had such enigma (was privilieged to see the re-runs of some of these) and legends like R.K Laxman..those days tv brought out the best from literature/fiction for adults and comic strips for kids.. the malgudi days, vikram betal to mythologies like mahabharat.. I pity this generation.. LOL..coming to this show.. I am mighty pleased that there are people today who can pull off this style.. and make it a respectable adaptation.. just got done watching this show called mukti bandhan where the creative team were a bunch of stalwards attempting to go against the tide.. but to no avail .. 😕 so am just hoping this show has a tangible storyline coz sooner or later it will also be made to wrap up.. not many seem to appreciate honest and genuine story-tellingI was willing to overlook the silly use of bg music to suit the definition.. 😆 just coz there were engaging bits.. even the ranganathan character didn't go OTT altho I was waiting for it.. and little things like the cook was disappointed too at the decision while only the bua upheld it.. those were intriguing.. and like I said Nidhi's dad.. I was itching to find out if he was tenalirama and looks like he was.. i opened a can of worms here.. didn't know YT had them.. there goes my weekend..😆

^^ oh Zainab told you abt MB forum😆.. yup it was a small click.. of objective people (hard to find on IF)..
at the end of the day It boils down to what one finds a connect to in a show.. MB worked for me .. for the protagonist.. an anti-hero capitalist.. whose convictions made you look up to him.. like straight out of Ayn Rand's books or for that matter with shades of Heathcliff.. I wont say the show lost its way in the end.. but yup I didn't relate to the end they chose.. the story-telling still retained the dignity..I havent really seen Gulal barring the first bits when I was home after Rahil dies.. and it didn't appeal to me.. that phase at least.. all I gathered was it was like Lamhe the movie flipped in gender..I know its probably trivializing it.. 😆yup in case of KTLK its decent story-telling style makes it a winner just coz the most other shows (generalizing) are pretty much the same in terms of treatment.. glossy exterior, zilch substance..

Actually that's not just trivializing it, it's off the mark as well😆...It was not Lamhe in reverse...there are far too many layers to the story to really sum it up in one line...it is one of the most brilliant scripts I've ever seen. Rahil's character was but one angle or layer to the story...the real story was always about Gulaal and Kesar and no other show has managed the kind of brilliant foreshadowing like this show did.
As for MB...yes I know the character sketch of the protagonist...but like I said...the acting of the cast didn't really impress me...the actor playing IM Virani didn't impress me much and neither did the rest. ...atleast that's what I felt. So yes, we all connect to different things in our own ways.

LOL.. about Gulal Its quite possible I am off the mark.. I only saw the bits where she was being mistreated as a young widow by some people and she decided to marry her young brother-in-law to get out of a situation.. thts all I remember from watching it in passing.. but its funny.. I think I'll end up describing MB the same way you describe Gulaal.. in the layers and hard to sum up the story, etc.. It stems from this strange protectiveness we end up harboring for a show we so like.. at least that's how I see my unhealthy MB fascination😆I can also see you not getting impressed by Shiv Sir.. he is no actor.. at least not a conventional one.. and his dialogue delivery takes some getting used to.. but there was this dimension he gave IMV.. this underplayed portrayal.. his rawness added tht edge IMO.. such that he became the irreplaceable face of iMV.. so coming back to the same thing.. it's about what you end up looking at in a show.. but for now.. looks like we are looking at the same thing in KTLK in terms of acting nuances in Nidhi's father or Mohnish Behltalking about trivia.. the random ones tht pop in my head😆. the actor playing Malika did some movies too- one was rather famous, yaad rakhegi duniya or something.. where she played a terminally ill girl as I vaguely recall
