I have a few concerns about this track and some things I actually really admire.

First let's talk about things I think should have been different.

The distance between Sona and Dev would have been more believable if more time had passed. Why couldn't they have made the kids 11-12 years old instead of 8? That way, enough time would have passed for me to think, oh hey yeah this makes more sense. I especially do not believe how distance these two are based on the track of Dev being a stay at home dad and understanding how difficult it was for Sona to handle being a working mom. You can't give me the Dev that is super empathetic and then Dev who is emotionally distant and overlooks his wife. It does not make sense.

Ishwari doing a complete 180 isn't super uncharacteristic. It has happened before. She was okay with Devakshi getting together but then was super jealous, then essentially ended their marriage, and when things got back to normal, she was still hesitant about Sona working so much. That part isn't unrealistic but what irks me the most is that Ishwari has SO much to say about the kind of mother Sona is while being completely oblivious to the super weird emotionally incestuous relationship she has with her own son. This woman's lack of self-awareness is mindboggling. And when Sona shows her the mirror, ofc she feels like she was disrespected.

I don't know if i'm in the minority here but Suhana's reaction is 100% normal. Suhana'srelationship with her parents is much more unique than other kids. Even tho Suhana is not an only child now, she filled that role for YEARS. And not only that but Dev and Sona FOUGHT for her. They expressed so much love on her, all the family members did. So of course she's going to feel threatened, because the kind of love Aayush is recieving is something Soha feels was her thing, a special kind of love. Thats why she doesn't threatened by Shubh, because she doesn't have to worry about Shubh replacing her. Plus the age difference is also a factor.

Besides Soha's misguided yet justified feelings, I think the communication between Dev and Sona is also impeccable. Honestly I admire their non-verbal communication more that their verbal. Dev bringing food for Sona, Sona giving Dev a message, them speaking with their eyes, giving each other hugs and relying on each other even though they may not be on the same page is very good to see. I still see the same Dev and Sona as the last few seasons. Sona still expresses her feelings, whether she feels heard or not. Sona's perspective is still so refreshing to see because she has a way of really getting to the root of things. And same with Dev. Dev will forever be in the middle of his mom and wife.. that will never change. And people are angry at him, which is understandable but I empathize with him. It's hard to seek balance with so many different personalities expecting so much from him. Sona, Soha, Ishwari, now Aayush. He's being pulled from so many directions and all h wants to do is make sure everyone is happy.

I am also extremely happy about Sonakshi's dad and Ishwari's borther being the voice of reason in all of this. A lot of the times the older men make the decisions and usually misogynistic one at that so it's good to see them thinking clearly and supporting Sonakshi and Aayush the most.

What are your thoughts?

You're so right about Dev's distance being hard to believe, but in my opinion he's always been a little oblivious- which becomes a cause for distance. Dev has always been dismissive of Sonakshi when the matter had anything to do with his mom, he would be quick to shut anything down as a misunderstanding or just distract her with a grand gesture. That can get old very quickly, and it makes sense to me that Sonakshi is frustrated and doesn't feel heard or understood just a year or two into their (re)marriage.

Things had fallen into a routine in devakshi land. When couples realise that the other one is tied with them for the rest of their lives and not going anywhere, they start taking each other for granted. Happened to dev and sona too until ayush rocked their boat and sent ishwari into frenzy to make up for lost time.

Before they could sit down and talk and decide the plan of action dev sprung into action for a immediate fix, ishwari started pointing mistakes, sona froze and soha turned brat. Caught in the midst of this chaos is ayush who is unaccustomed to such dysfunctional family. Dixit family needs things to spiral out of control. Only then they would stop and start fixing things within reason.

But boundaries are non existent in dixit family and now a new added member has to fit in this mess. Maybe he is brought in to detangle and set things straight

Agreed with the majority of your thoughts. Enjoyed reading your take.

Given Devs nature and how they both struggled during the separation, this distance just does not make sense. If it were a separation of a year or two, this would have made more sense, drifting away emotionally due to the mundane nature of life. Especially seeing a Dev who cannot even gauge that things are not the same between the two. Say what may about the old Dev, he was protective about his relationship with Sona. This whole thing feels a bit jarring.

Ishwari cannot be giving lectures on motherhood to anyone let alone Sona. She conveniently forgets she has three daughters as well, who have voiced on multiple occasions that they are in fact second-class citizens in the house. Sona reminded her that she is not perfect but somehow Ishwari conveniently ignored that aspect.

Sona had originally wanted to give time to Ayush, Dev agreed with her. That was good communication. And then when Ishwari comes into the picture, Dev tends to side with her decisions. Sometimes out of will, or maybe he is just conditioned to always say yes to her.

Dev always had Sona as the sounding board, someone who listened to him. When he doesn't share the problems and chooses to block out her concerns, is when I feel they do a disservice to Devs character.

About Soha, her concern of being elbowed out of the priority order was right. However, it was unnecessary to portray her as a semi-bully, great that they have taken some remedial action on that.

The equation between Bijoy and Dev, maybe it is supposed to be the funny track, but I don't think it is handled well by the makers. Bijoy is not evil and Dev is usually respectful towards elders, but their equation was tempered by Asha, who is sadly missing.

I so agree with this post in its entirety, especially the bold parts!
