I think this whole story is based on stressing the importance of mental illness awareness which is a taboo topic in India. Dev seems obsessed with her, a bit depressed, and going crazy with negative thoughts. I think the bus situation has been so traumatic that he feels he needs to control every situation. I think his his childhood is what is making him act the way he's acting.

I know most people on here are hating this track, but I am enjoying it. I think it's to see how far Dev goes before he breaks down. Even Sona talking to Ishwari about it was her just saying this is how Dev loves people.

This statement echos the excuses of Indian parents not being aware of mental illness or do not know much about it. I think Sona will either leave because she cannot handle it and will eventually get him some help.

In the end it's the shows way of showing how mental illiness can harm a person and make them something they are not.

Thoughts?

Wrote almost the same thing in another post...(will copy it here)
You wrote exactly the same thoughts which were going in my head😊

Everybody is busy bashing Sona or sympathising with Dev but noone is focusing on the actual issue.

Focus should be on Dev and his actions.I am getting scared for Dev.I am glad Sonakshi is noticing the changes.Such deep psychological issues need to be addressed sooner.Just loving Dev won't solve the problem.

May be all this is heading towards a track where Sonakshi will want to consult a psychologist/psychiatrist(whatever it is - i don't know the difference) which will not go down well with Ishwari initially (to old generation- having psychological issues = madness) - one more new generation issue addressed 😳 like' Live-in track','old generation (Ishu's job)wanting to make their own identity' track.

I thought Sona addressing the issue with Ishwari and Ishwari justifying it by saying that's how Dev loves was such a big hint.Dev fear is too much.It is not good for his own mental health. If he continues like this,he'll go insane. Sonakshi's worry is valid. And how is Sona supposed to know that he has deep-rooted abandonment issues.

Thank you for raising this concern.
I have posted my thoughts on Dev's trauma will copy it here.

Impact of childhood trauma is very difficult to understand, it impacts ones adulthood, relationships, behaviour, and overall cognitive functioning. Adversities faced in childhood cause disruption of the child's stress hormones - leading to chronic hyper-arousal and ongoing sensitivity to stress. Children, who are threatened with adversities, adapt a stress response in form of fight, flight and freeze, in an extremely prolonged and repetitive fashion.
Dixsit family lived their lives in a survival mode. Dev fought with his circumstances, against all odds he turned around his life for his family and mother. During his journey from rags to riches, he formed a toxic relationship with his mother, which dominated his life.
Sona's presence in his life brought considerable changes in Dev's life. But time and again when he is reminded of his trauma, his mind reminded of his maladaptive coping mechanisms. For instance,Dev was reminded of his childhood when he found out about Ish job, thus, he showed his agitation and frustration. Likewise, 'bus incident' and 'fire incident' has triggered him and he is responding and coping in ways he has been, his signs are similar to 'hyper arousal'.
I could be wrong. Just expressing my POV

It will not be surprising if something like this happens given the number of social issues the show has taken up post leap be it the live in track, life of a single mother or Ishwari's working track. But even if they take it up I would want them to explore this properly as all the above mentioned tracks according were not at all handled properly by the makers, they could have explored it in a much better way. So if something like this happens I hope it would be explored properly and will have a proper closure.

Just my POV, no offence.
