I don't know why I see no excitement in the forum because what we saw today was surely something I have never seen in any Indian show before this. I mean we all have said this many times but today clearly fits the bill for its story and concept if nothing else. Wow! The level of maturity (again said many times) was on some other level today. I am again feeling the same amazement as a felt during ishwari's chori issue because I have never seen such sensitive issues handled on TV before. A mother who always has been bias towards her son. Though her eldest daughter had been first hand privy to all this at a very young age.. The two younger ones were, well, still smaller in age to understand. To them their father figure, brother and guardian was always dev. And their relation with their mother always being distant... He was the only chord. And thus truth came out more bitterly once sonakshi left. She took dev the man with her. All what was left was the shadow of a man who once was. So literally the backbone of the household broke... Not only because of dev himself but also because of his broken relations with his mom. As Nikki said. Once dev went into depression and distanced himself, ishwari did the same as if they didn't matter to her. Only they three were left all alone so they made their own lives.
I loved loved this conversation just for its subtleties, as well as depth. How differential treatment effects relationship, how one relationship affects all others, and how such closed relations (like dev and ishwari) may effect the whole family. I have never seen these issues brought up on TV before.
Even more, I loved how they have characterised Nikki. So strong, mature and clear headed she has become! To have the guts to say everything to sonakshi!
Her every dialogue was on point today.
Sona then was at fault too. She not only left dev but them too. If no one else Nikki loved her lie her own. I do understand how difficult it was for sona and how she coudnt call to maintain relations with them, but I understand Nikki too. Sona never tried to contact them in these seven years. So she can't just waltz back in their lives right?
And as for her family... That's a completely different ballgame. As Riya said they lost their bhai when sona left. And dev too stopped paying them any heed. Clearly ishwari did the same and everyone forgot about the daughters. So her words jinko pata hona chahiye unko mera pata pata hai...however bitter were true. Leaving dev aside for the moment, it seems ishwari niether cake to share her sorrow with them not shared their pain. They literally had no one.
The creatives have brilliantly woven this issue of ishwari's biases with the separation. That was the main reason for the family's breakdown not sona. And I am glad they brought it up! That is what we had wanted right? So ishu will know this was not only because of separation but how she had treated them their whole lives. It is clear from both riya and nikki's words. Both are angry at dev and ishwari.. And sona because her leaving triggered this so it's very natural.
The other thing that impressed me today was this idea of a live in relationship. Not only the fact that it is a completely different concept shown, but also the reason behind it. Nikki finally understood what we always knew about the dixits. The slightly dysfunctional family, dev and ishwari being a core with everything else on the fringes, where people hardly spoke their true mind nor did they have the opportunity to, and relations could be maintained or not as per convenience. Her own bitter experience with her family led to her disenchantment such it as well with marriage. So she finds living in, without marrying, just the two of them, in close connection a better option. Now of course it is a schock to sona and dev and the family but why not. After all she is an adult, has been taking decisions for herself for so long, and lakshya seems to have been beside her when no one was. And I loved how she pointed out... Kya aap aur dev bhayiya ke room me aur bhi koi rehta hai? Right isint it? They are the same... A couple in love, each others partners only having not gone through some rituals. So why would anyone else stay with them? Now myself and many of us have no problem with it but of course the elders so. Both dev and sona's reactions were very real today! Sona trying to convince that what is the harm in marrying and dev being angry and slightly uncomfortable. Very natural. But ask yourself dev.. Why would she have informed you! And when you were not there she has made her own life so you can't just barge in on her life and point fingers at her now.
Nikki is right when she says no one will try to understand her and instead will ask questions and judge lakshya. When in fact her fears about marriage, about love are all very real. After all she saw her ideal relationship break down before her as well as the consequences it lead to.
So as you can guess I loved the entire episode and special the conversation! Loved the story, concept, how they have incorporated the theme of the show, the reactions and emotions of the characters...everything!
I can't wait to see how the sisters mend their relation with their brother and mother. And how ishwari realises where she went wrong!
Anyway she seems to be still learning! I liked how she worded her insecurities, how she stood between dev and sona, how every relation should have a boundary etc all of which we are saying from day one.
And bonus, she also is now realising the void it would leave in her heart and how she needs to invest her time in something else!
It seems like every characters is growing, and how beautifully!
Sona will fully realize the implications of her leaving and dev of what he had done then. And now that they have each others back they will together make up from and mend all mistakes of the past! And that would further strengthen their relation. The resolution of all these matters are required before they can move on with normal lives. And I for one can't wait to see how they progress this track!

Nicely written⭐️
Episode was beautiful...and so relatable...it is fact younger siblings do take decisions seeing / experiencing older ones life. Nikki 's argument on marriage was her experience from devakshi marriage...she was right at her place.. 😳

Agree with you. The episode was wonderfully done. The emotional trauma everyone undergone is slowly peeled layer by layer. Once thy sort out all these differences and the bigger picture of mami nd vicky manipulations unravels... i can imagine how dev will be an unstoppable raging bull

It was a wonderful episode. Niki was so on point today. She made all the correct points and thanks to the CVs for subtly portraying how dysfunctional the dixit family was. Excited for the upcoming track!

Lovely post and very well written as usual.👏👏..I do agree that Nikki has no reason to accept Sona or Dev unquestioningly back into her life that she has so carefully built. It is also quite natural that she would be scarred by the trauma that marriage might bring on families and people concerned.
But to to be frank my sympathies for Nikki end there...I think she and Rhea should have stepped up and taken responsibility when the house was falling apart.Instead they chose to wail and cry for the attention that apparently went missing and then Nikki walked out of the house on one fine day when the tide was in her favour...I would have respected her if she had stepped up and helped Dev manage his business...or manage the house..or been a pillar of strength to her brother and mom...I see the two sisters as utterly selfish who used the Dixit mansion to their benefit and walked out when they felt they had no use for it...My views in detail here😳

For all Nikki's frankness,I wonder if she would have an answer if someone asked her why Nikki was fiddling when the Dixit mansion was burning😉😆

Nikki n Ria's main issue is that for Ishwari its only Dev who matters. If dev is happy everyonr shud be happy n if he is not everybody should sulk. Neha was veryupfront about this fron the start that Ishwari was always biased towards dev but nikki n Neha realised this after devakshi seperation fiasco. When dev went into depression instead of taking carw of house n her daughters Ishwari too neglected them. House was in cobtrol of ex gkb and office in vicki's hands. We all know how capable vicki n mamiji are of humiliating anyone. Ria and nikki must have gone through a lot before leaving the house n breaking all ties with dev n Ishwari. They must have tried a lot but dev chose not to come to IN for weeks and ishwari was living there like a zombie with no love n affection for daughters. I know dev love his sisters a lot, but i think they all have also given him equal love n respect, so it was always mutual.

sheetal this is where i disagree. Dev and sona had a bitter separation even before they married. at that time, Dev put on a facade and hid his hurt , he was shattered inside but his outside core remained in tact. that point in time , nobody had tried to feel his misery. they were in their own la la land that all is well. during the post marriage breakup , dev could no longer hold himself, his facade too broke and his shattered self came out in the open. this time none in the family could accept him. This shows that as long as Dev is around to provide for them no matter whatever be his state personally, they are happy, contended and feel loved/cared. the minute he exhibits his inner emotions, he is unacceptable and feel neglected. may be this is the very reason that Dev used to resort to sleeping pills, he knew how opportunist his family was. May be that is the very reason why he distanced himself from them, in order not to become a point of their ridicule while he sorted out himself.

@randomramblings-- i agree with what all you are saying and i m not saying Dev was wrong when he distanced himself from everyone after break up. His endurance level reached its peak and he gave up on evrything which is understandable. I do feel his pain, he has always done everything to keep his family happy as per his capacities. I m just trying to say that if the sisters have stopped talikng to them there must be some strong reason behind it. They all have always loved dev n i belive it must not be like they left very next day after devakshi breakup. They must have tried but without ishwaris support, gkb n vickis hold on house n office they just gave up. Neha n ria got married n dev didnt attend thier marriage. Its obivious they will feel sad and have rights to be miffed with dev.
Why we are bringing the money issue here. Our parents always spent whatever they have on us but that doesnt make us indebted to them for lifelong and we cant be upset with them for any reason. This is exactly same thought of ex-ishwari that as she has invested time n money on Dev so he shud listen to her always.
And as i have mentioned earlier also, i think thier main issue is with ishwari that she has always been biased to Dev which is true to large extent.
