Ok jaate jaate one more short story of Tagore here please bear with me.
The story deals with a man starting to love the woman with whom his marriage is gonna be fixed, but he and his mother are in shelter of his Mamaji who is a money-lover. On the wedding day, Mamaji doubts the bride's father on the quality of Dowry (Setup of 1900's) after which the bride's father feeds the entire baraati but takes a call on behalf of his daughter and calls off the wedding. 🥳 It reminded me of Bijoy Bose - the right time for a father to take a stand for his daughter 🥳. Oh btw, before the wedding was called off, Baba gives a chance to the groom to take a stand for them instead of calling them thief. The groom doesnt.
Years later, the couple meet each other and he apologizes to both father and daughter and tells them how he remained unmarried and always thinks of her in last 2/3 yrs. Baba forgives but tells him that it's his daughter's decision. 🤗 Right kind of Bijoy Baba. Anyways, thegirl refuses and informs him that now she works for orphan kids and found the meaning of her life and holds no grudges against him, but she cannot marry him 👏.
What makes the story special is - the guy decides to join hands with her in her charity works and spends his life like this although he knows they can never get married. He doesn't wait for her but simply finds happiness in hers.
❤️ Lovely story based in early 1900's where a father takes a bold step when the would be in-laws calls them thief and gold-digger. 👏 I am appalled to see that almost ALL the issues addressed 100 yrs back, are still being worked on and STILL we have so many bias against women as a whole and against such fathers who feel and stand strongly with their daughters. Bijoy has to be the STRONGEST father I have seen in entire tellyworld. Hope in our society we get more fathers like Bijoy for whom daughter's marriage is not the ultimate goal and that they can find a new meaning of life outside marriage. They know when to stand up and when to let the girl take a lead in her life 👏. And people like the hero of the above story is my kind of lover. Call me romantic, but my kind of romance is strongly limited to the idea of this quote - Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale. Such filthy rich, arrogant men like Dev dont trigger the idea of fairy tale in me at all. May be I am more practical than Sona and definitely not an emotional fool. 😆
Edit - Good night guys. 😳 Please continue on the lovely discussions and ideas on Dev's double role. 😆 Rocking fellas 👏.
