Do you recall my post on balance way back when Dev was using the same line on both his mother and wife without any modification?
Yes, today's episode is going to remind you of that same point I made.
At that time, some people were confused that why a mother can't be considered above everyone and why the wife can't just take backseat in the priorities, yet make her husband her top priority and be understanding?
I understand that in our culture the minute Maa enters a discussion, everyone else is automatically a non-existent entity except if Dad also enters the discussion. Then the Mother is not as much of a supreme being.
But here, the question arises for a nephew who were treated like an only son and the only friend and the only blinking star in the whole universe vs. newly formed strong attachment to a girl who will turn out to be a more closer relationship than that said nephew.
So then who should be "understanding" and step back? And if their relationship deteriorates trying to fight for their individual rights, then who should we blame? The child whose expectations were set so high that now he can't let anyone in or the daughter who came recently but is a much stronger bond or the person who didn't BALANCE his relationships?
Now you know what you will pick. Why don't we ask ourselves now that when the same situation happened earlier because of the same man, why the fingers were pointed to the wife? The new member in the family? And what does it tell us for our mentality when it comes to value of a woman when they managed to produce kids vs. woman without children?
Think about it.
Today's episode starts with, Dev and Sona come face to face in the office. He opens the door for her. She is surprised. Dev says that their destination is the same. Sonakshi says that just because they are walking together, that doesn't mean that they have the same destination.
Dev says that she has arrived at her destination. But he is all alone. Sonakshi is puzzled.
Me: Bhaiya, I told you before. Vinegar doesn't catch Queen Bee, you need honey for that. Yet you continue your stings. You are asking for the Queen's zinger.
Dev's employee asks him to sign a document. He takes out Soha's pen and thinks of her. Dev can't concentrate on work and keeps thinking of Soha. He is wondering why he can't get her off his mind?
Me: Bhaiya, because she is tiny Sonakshi. Your obsession was always with Sonakshi in all her manifestations. That's why.
At school Golu offers Soha a deal. He tells Soha that he will never bother her and never irritate her. She can tie him Rakhi and he will protect her like a brother. Soha tells him that she doesn't need his protection.
Me: Bachhe man ke sachhe. Truly God speaks through children.
Golu warns off Soha that his Bigcha is his and she doesn't have to try to be over friendly with him. Soha says that she will do as she pleases. Golu tells her to stop matching his BigCha's picture with her father. Soha denies it.
Me: Aha, baby Ishwari and baby Sona, just cuter and much more palatable. Baby Ishwari is still giving deals to Baby Sonakshi and over the same man. Yes, this is the kid version of that adult conversation. Same man, same high expectations, same tightrope and same situation.
Dev sends Sonakshi flowers and congratulates her for moving on and having a new husband. Sonakshi fumes.She decides to give it back to Dev.
Me (slurping pepsi): Yes, yes, yes... Ab aayega mazaa...
At Dixit house, Mamaji reprimands Ishwari for lying. She says that she did it for Dev's own good so that he gets settled and move on. Mamaji tells him that she is doing wrong. Ishwari says that she is seeing signs of getting everything back. Dev shared his feelings with her. So no one can stop her from getting Dev married. Mamaji tried to stop her, but she ignores him as usual.
Me: Yep, Dixits and their mission to do other's good. Same family, same excuse, same result. Didn't I say that Dev should never have encouraged psycho Ishwari?
Radha and Vicky are worried that Ishwari is trying to get Dev married. Then he might have children and Golu will not be their key to Dev's wealth anymore. Vicky thinks Dev was better off with Sonakshi. At least she could not have children.
Me: Vicky, you don't know how much blessings you are going to get from fandom today for that sentence.
At Dev's office he is waiting to see what Sona does. He knows that he dropped a bomb and he is just waiting for explosion.
Me:Dev, I think you are enjoying the explosion. That's why you keep on adding oil to the fire to see how big the blast is this time.
Ishwari knocks and Dev cheerfully thought Sonakshi came so he goes, "Welcome"... Ishwari comes there and his face changes. She tries to convince him of marriage (Jaise Dev ka bedroom walk-in-closet tha, ab office bhi public garden hain. Koi bhi muh utha ke ghoos aata hain). Sonakshi barges in at Dev's office with full-blown temper.
Me (clutching popcorn bag): Oh mi God... (slurps pepsi some more)
Sonakshi comes and Dev says that she must have loved the flower since she likes flower stories. She very politely says thank you. Dev says that she is his friend now. (Me: Leg, meet the Axe)
Dev tells her that his mother came to talk to him about his marriage since she also is getting married as his mother said. Sonakshi realised that Ishwari lied. Sonakshi says to Dev that as his friend she suggests that he should get married as his mother says. Because then at least he will have some other understanding person? Ishwari didn't like the idea of some other understanding person in Dev's life. But there's the chance, so she strikes back that she was saying the same thing.
Dev asks what she is saying? She always speak in confusing language. Sonakshi reveals the truth. But he should believe his mother blindly always like he always had done. Ishwari starts to interject. Sonakshi continues by thanking Ishwari for reminding her why they broke up and widening the rift between them. She accuses Ishwari that when she very well knew that Jatin is his friend and business partner and she knows that Sonakshi is not getting married, not now and not ever since she told Ishwari that, yet she is spreading lies about her. They are all the same people still arguing about lies.
Dev glares at Ishwari. Sonakshi continues her accusation that Dev still can't see the truth like always. Since the situation has changed, what's the point them changing?
Me (hyperventilating): I think I just fell in love with Sonakshi... Guttermind people, get your mind out of the gutter. I am straight, not that kind of love. I think I have major girl crush on her... <Insert Heart, flower, unicorn here >. Definitely going to watch this scene on repeat.
At school, the teacher deems Golu's assignment wrong because he drew only his Bigcha on his bike as family. On the other hand, Soha didn't draw her father so teacher asks why. Soha says that her parents are separated and she has never seen her father.
Me: Different teacher, same question. Why doesn't the principal inform the teachers about student's family situation to be mindful of?
Golu realises that Jatin is Soha's uncle. So he asks about Soha's dad.
Me: Soha is secretive like Dev and who probes secretive Dev better than anyone? That's right, Golu. I said before that for Dev and Soha, you will have to know the answer before you probe with the question. Otherwise, they will sidestep you with tricks and excuses. Unlike adult, children are naturally curious. So Golu is doing the probing and if I have to guess, he will relay them to his BigCha.
Dev confronts his mother about her lies. She starts emotional blackmail and conveniently turns the lies to her favour and asks him if he will throw her out of his life and get Sonakshi back?
Me: Typical blackmail material by Ishwari. Which son will throw their mother out and specially a son like Dev. She knows it. And that is precisely why she continues to play her game. If you had severed all connection from your mother except her upkeep, Dev, today you won't have to deal with her lies anymore.
Sorry but every time you give her your fingers, she grabs your throat. Yet, you continue to extend that finger. Had you done the same to Sonakshi, you won't have been alone. But then as people say, women are like trains. One goes, the other will be around the corner. Except when that woman is a mother, then she is Taj Mahal re-incarnated even if she buries her child underground.
Precap: Golu tells his BigCha that Jatin is Soha's uncle. Dev goes to school and sees Sonakshi picking up Soha. He wonders why Sonakshi came to pick up Soha alone? He decides to find out the relationship between Sonakshi and Soha.
Me (spluttering pepsi): Seriously, Bhaiya? Are you deaf?
Okay, clue time again.
Soha says that her mother is coming to pick her up.
Sonakshi says that Jatin is her friend and business partner and they are not getting married.
Golu says, Jatin is not Soha's father. He is Soha's uncle.
Then you see Sonakshi picking up Soha.
And you are freaking wondering what is their relationship? Are you seriously that dumb?
Even if you had reached a respectable conclusion like Sonakshi might have adopted Soha that's why there is so much similarities with Sonakshi, I'd have still thought okay, may be for you 7 pepsi is equal to 0 pepsi. But at least your brain cells knows how to tango. But no. Your brain cells are like international students. They don't even talk to each other.
