Yesterday watching bajirao on Sony. Suddenly one thought came is radhabaai (From movie bajirao nd mastani) had some similarities with some differences too.
- Both were respected by their sons.
- Both never acceptable towards son's love.
- Consider their son's love as threat to family or empire.

But the insecurity issue was lesser in radhabaai instead being Rajamata she was more concerned abt family pride nd honour. She was orthodox who never accepted mastani till bajirao's death but ishwari was little flexible in terms of this becoz she don't wanna loose her son. All becoz the royal ppl r little orthodox for whom family pride was even more important than someone's life. But ishu was not that strong she melted after seeing her sons condition.
Baajirao didn't behaved spineless as dev he already told mastani that it wud be difficult for u like dev. Bajirao always being in dilemma of the empire nd mastani but he supported mastani in all ways. However mastani was in more harsh conditions than sona but there was support of baaji. He even rebelled against his mother that was not dev.
But the insecurities of mother we can also see in radhabaai too.

There are many such past characters and present characters in shows and movies we can draw similarities to... But there are differences in the Eras... Circumstances and the exact personality of the characters. They cannot be compared to one another.

I think generally mothers do become insecure when their sons marry
I somehow feel its up to the son to bring both women together and them both one is mother and the other is my wife both positions cannot be altered and both needs respect and should respect each other

I don't know about other Indian shows or movies I've never watched them
