You are reading the words of a highly satisfied viewer today. There was so much going on in today's episode that I don't know where to begin talking about it. For now, I will just leave a few points and pick up discussion again tomorrow when I have a bit more free time.
Dev is in a genuinely good place. He is able to look his mother in the face and have a healthy conversation with her, he is able to refer to Sona casually in conversation -- with his comment about never understanding the Bose sisters -- and he is able to call his parasites out on their behaviour. One mention of her extravagant diamond necklace and Mami was silenced -- a new skill Dev has acquired.. He is even happy to share some affectionate words with Ishwari, but shut down completely when she tried to cross the invisible barrier between. And it came up precisely when she said the words that, for me, defined the downfall of their relationship, "my happiness in your happiness." Dev was happy with Sona, but Ishwari was not. Dev is happy now, in a different way, but still Ishwari refuses to accept it. For her, his "happiness" is a state of being that is defined by her, which by total coincidence, just happens to match her happiness. 🤔
Glad to see that Dev can see through her now. She believes he is holding on to Sonakshi, which is why she tries to convince him that she has probably moved on. But the truth is that by separating the couple, what Ishwari stole from Dev was not merely Sona, it was his faith in love and relationships. And since he lives in a house full of people out for their own gain from his work, he has had nobody to resurrect that faith. Even his relationship with Golu is not a selfless one, since it is clear that he is trying to use the kid to relive his own childhood. He recoils at Elena's pressure on Golu to study, because it reminds him of how he was allowed to do nothing else (glad to see Elena take initiative, and the issue of her family cleared up). It shows that he doesn't necessarily have Golu's best interests at heart all the time. This is where I think Soha will play a huge role. She will be the first one to stir Dev's deep, unconditional-type emotions in seven years. He has become immune to everyone else, but Soha will be a curve ball.
Sona and Soha had some adorable scenes today, and I must commend Erica's chemistry with the actress who plays Soha (don't know her name yet). I loved that scene of her being the multi-tasking superwoman, making Soha's sandwich, talking to the contractor about the house, and approving presentations all at the same time. The new and improved Bose house looks very spiffy and those flashbacks got me all nostalgic, as though I too was stepping into the house for the first time after seven years... it's been 5 days, guys. 😆 Suhana's reactions, both to Sona's tears and her laughter, indicated that she is not used to seeing her mother express that much emotion.
In typical Sona style, she has mashed down her feelings for the past seven years, and in typical Sona style, they will burst forth in unsavoury ways, as we saw in the pre cap. I cannot tell you how tickled I am that it looks like Sona initiates the antagonism. There was a high road there, Sona, and you really didn't take it, but I am so very happy to see that! Screw the high road, it got Dev and Sona nowhere in protecting their relationship, and both of them seem to have realised that. Dev is getting exactly the reaction he wants out of Dr. Bose, and once again, I am all anticipation for what is to come. Hats off to the CVs!
