All Television and Film fraternity does is entertain audiences worldwide and try their level best to send out the right social message. But, there is no written rule that every soap or program telecast should leave a lesson to be taught and learnt. I completely disagree. Take the good from it and leave the rest. Television fraternity and writers are not morally inclined to give audience a lesson on 'how to make your relationships work'. Period. If serial watchers are turning to telly medium to learn lessons, well, I have to call them 'educated fools.' 😃
Am sure everyone knows that Cigarette packs come with a warning and so does Alcohol and there are scores of advertisements on the damages due to its usage. Does that stop people from adopting these vices? If people are supposed to be influenced by telly serials, then why is child marriage still prevalent in India? And child trafficking? Though it's a known crime and a highly punishable offence! I conclude that Television is a medium of entertainment and nothing else. There are some influences from real life and some fictional characters too. How the characters manage to tell a story defines the influence on me and helps me decide whether I need to continue to watch the soap or not.
I have stated in my earlier posts that the Creatives have a story to tell. Audience would always retain the right to criticise it or love it, depends on how they perceive it.
It's not what one says, but how you say it that makes all the difference. Dev is not God, so let's not expect him to behave like one. His arrogance and aggressiveness has been seen in many episodes. He is extremely devoted to his mother, to a fault, I would say. And I would like to see him rise above this flaw and address his personality issues. Otherwise he is a good boss and is loved by his employees. He has created a billion dollar turnover company on his own which is admirable. His mother is his weakness which am sure the Creatives will help him resolve.
Why a SIL slapped a FIL? Would it influence all SILs around the globe to do it, is a laugh-worthy question. 🤣 Then Balika Vadhu and Udaan etc, though path-breaking have not stopped the practice of child marriage/labour completely, have they? I would call the slap as a backlash. Dev did not realise till he threw his hand around. It's definitely a lesson for Bijoy to stop interfering in his daughters life. He was calm and then got provoked. Why wasn't he calm like Asha. Why did he keep yelling at Ishwari despite knowing that his SIL has a raw nerve when it comes to his mother? Because the script demanded it. When the Creatives show Dev's remorse and Bijoy's realisation, the scene would be complete. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction, right? 😃 Why are people concerned about Dev ignoring GKB? If Mamaji couldn't tame her, why should Dev?
If audiences starts defining characters and what they should do and not do, then Darcy would have been single and Rebecca would not be one of the inspired characters till date. Let the writers go berserk and tell their story. Let's wait for the next chapter...

@Bold - This in BOLD is like worse than the slap. Can't argue with you on this, except to say that I would love to have a father like Bijoy who would 'interfere' in my life.
Bijoy stood up for himself there, because he was being called a thief, cheat and a liar. He was being screamed at, insulted and disrespected to no end. He was subject to the torture and his anger was justified. He was provoked and not Dev, Dev is the one who caused all this mess.

Wrong again. Bijoy's anger was misdirected. He was provoked by GKB. He should have silenced GKB but, strangely no one knows how to do that. 😃 Bijoy should have listened to the wise words of Asha when she calmly said that this issue can be discussed later amongst the elders in the family. Instead, he barged ahead at Ishwari. 😕 If he had excused himself and walked off, then Ishwari and Dev would have gone to their residence and apologised. Here, he lost his face, though he was only trying to defend his family! Reason - he lost his cool and misdirected his anger at Ishwari, with Dev around. What you reap is what you sow. He sowed anger and contempt and got a backlash in return. Look at Asha. Though she was with Bijoy, she walked away with a lot more dignity, esp. after advising Bijoy to stay quiet.
